Suspect sought in death of 80-year-old woman struck by hit-and-run driver in Broward
Deputies with the Broward Sheriff's Office responded shortly before 8 p.m. to reports of a crash in the 3800 block of North Powerline Road.
Investigators said Barbara Price, 80, was crossing the street outside a designated crosswalk when she was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene.
Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded and pronounced Price dead.
Detectives later determined the vehicle involved was a light blue 2005 to 2009 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SUV.
Investigators say the SUV's front passenger side struck Price, projecting her off the roadway.
Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact BSO at 954-321-4841 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
The investigation is ongoing.

Binghamton man accused of attempting to abduct child from inside Price Chopper
A Binghamton man has been charged with attempted kidnapping after allegedly trying to abduct an 8-year-old girl inside Price Chopper. The Binghamton Police Department responded to a report of an assault and an attempted abduction at about 6:15 p.m. on Aug. 1 in the Price Chopper at 10 Glenwood Ave. in the City of Binghamton. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Donald Beetlestone, 37, of Binghamton, was being restrained by others in the store. He was taken into custody by police. Through the investigation police were able to determine that the child had been shopping with her mother and was alone in the produce section when Beetlestone approached her. He allegedly struck her with a bottle and attempted to forcibly remove her from the store. A female employee heard the struggle, intervened and attempted to stop Beetlestone, and a male customer assisted by physically restraining him until police arrived. Beetlestone was charged with first-degree attempted kidnapping, first-degree assault, forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child. He was remanded to the Broome County jail. Car was found in an Everglades canal. Hours later, Broward cops found dead body
A man's body surfaced in a west Broward canal in the Florida Everglades early Thursday morning, prompting a swift response from rescue divers and drones. Deputies responded to reports of a submerged vehicle near Krome Avenue and U.S. Highway 27 around 9 p.m. on Wednesday and found a Chevy Tahoe underwater, Broward Sheriff's Office told the Miami Herald. The agency's dive team, missing persons unit, marine patrol and drone unit were deployed to locate the SUV when, hours later, the dead body turned up. Marshall Jones, owner of Mack's Fish Camp, an air boat tour business located on the same stretch of canal, was the first to phone authorities and guided rescue crews when they arrived. 'I saw fresh skid marks and disturbance on the side of the levy and bubbles in the canal,' Marshall Jones told the Miami Herald. Jones described the body as a man in his 30s. He told the Miami Herald he thinks the body was the driver and that he had been ejected from the SUV before he was found. Body found in Broward Everglades canal identified as Hialeah man from Mexico
Authorities are releasing new details on a body that surfaced in a Florida Everglades canal early Thursday morning. Broward County officials say Ramiro Gomez-Diaz, of Hialeah, was discovered hours after they found his car submerged underwater. Deputies responded to reports of a sunken vehicle near Krome Avenue and U.S. Highway 27 around 9 p.m. on Wednesday and found the 27-year-old's 2007 Chevy Tahoe underwater, the Broward Sheriff's Office told the Miami Herald. The agency's dive team, missing persons unit, marine patrol and drone unit were deployed to locate the SUV but saw no trace of the missing driver. A family member was the first to spot a lifeless Gomez-Dias after returning to the canal early Thursday morning, BSO reported in a statement released Friday afternoon. A GoFundMe page for the Hialeah man said he was originally from Chiapas, Mexico and migrated to the United States 'with dreams of building a better future.' The posting said proceeds would help pay for his funeral and transporting him back to his hometown in Mexico. He guided rescue crews to Gomez-Diaz's SUV after spotting tire tracks on Wednesday night.
