The best hot hatches of all time: six used classic cars we found this week
You know the one. Though not that one – the version we found this week for the frankly bargain sum of £16k is the 1.6-litre GTI, not the more sought-after 1.9. It matters not. What you're getting is a crisp, beautifully proportioned car that weighs under a tonne and will lift-off oversteer to your heart's content.

The Fiesta ST lives! Sort of! Ford stopped making one of the best small hot hatches of all time a couple of years ago, but the classifieds are full of the little 1.6-litre tykes. Like this one, for just 5,568 of yer finest English pounds. Five-and-a-half grand! Just remember to lift off once in a while. Not mid-corner, mind.

During this car's lifetime, Williams F1 was busy sweeping up all before it in Formula One, and eventually all that glitter and (literal) gold found its way into this Nineties gem. A 2.0-litre nat-asp engine, sub-tonne kerbweight and trick chassis helped cement its place in history, as did that gorgeous blue and gold livery. And would you look at that – here's one we found for just £15k! Possibly!

No, 120-odd horses from a 1.4-litre engine hasn't travelled well through the years. Yes, 120-odd supremely turbocharged horses carrying a metric tonne of turbo lag has travelled well through the years! This one's a rare Dimma-kitted 5 Turbo (anyone old enough to remember Dimma?), and… ok yes, it's very expensive. Still, you would.

You'd buy it for the stance alone. Ford doesn't tend to get its fast cars wrong, and this Mk1 RS is just so, so right. 2.0-litre turbo four, 212bhp, front-drive, proper diff, proper wheels and a proper lairy drive. Here's one for £16k.

Yes, what you really want is the FL5 Type R, but that's a new car, and this is a list about old cars. So here's an old Civic Type R that looks like a tarted-up shoebox able to scream its hearty little VTEC lungs out. Also came with one of the finest manual gearboxes ever fitted to a car, too. And look! Here's an old one for £15k!

Verstappen confirms he will stay at Red Bull next year
BUDAPEST, July 31 (Reuters) - Max Verstappen confirmed he will be racing for Red Bull next season, ending speculation that the four-time Formula One world champion could join Mercedes for the start of a new era in the sport. "I think it's time to stop all the rumours. For me, it was always quite clear that I was staying," he told reporters at the Hungarian Grand Prix on Thursday. "And that was the general feeling in the team because we are always in discussion about what we could do with the car and when you're not staying you stop talking about these kind of things. And I never did." Formula One starts a new engine era next year in a major shakeup that could change the pecking order, with Mercedes expected to be strong while Red Bull are making their own power unit after a split with Honda.

Max Verstappen finally confirms Red Bull decision just days after Christian Horner was ruthlessly sacked by F1 team
MAX VERSTAPPEN put the rumours to bed once for all and confirmed he is STAYING at Red Bull. The four-time Formula One world champion, whose deal runs until 2028, had previously held talks with Mercedes over a potential move with Red Bull struggling again this season. 2 2 Merc boss Toto Wolff confirmed the talks at the Austrian Grand Prix in June with Verstappen, 27, open to considering his future options. The Dutchman finished fourth in the Belgian Grand Prix last time out, meaning he can no longer trigger a release clause that relied on him being outside of the top three going into the summer break. Ahead of the Budapest Grand Prix, he said: "I mean, it's quite interesting to follow all that and the amount of nice stories that came out of it. "But yeah, for me, I've never really said anything about it because I was just focused on talking to the team about how we can improve our performance, future ideas for next year as well. "I think it's time to basically stop all the rumours. "For me, it's always been quite clear that I was staying anyway." He continued: "That was also the general feeling in the team anyway, because we were always in discussions about what we could do with the car. "I think when you're not interested in staying, then you also stop talking about these kinds of things. "And I never did." Christian Horner was ruthlessly sacked by Red Bull two weeks ago, but Verstappen said in Spa that the 51-year-old's exit did not influence his future plans.
