5 reasons to visit Louvre Abu Dhabi this summer
If you're looking for an exciting (and blissfully) air-conditioned thing to do this summer, why not head to Louvre Abu Dhabi? Tucked away on Saadiyat Island and topped with that iconic dome that plays with sunlight like a dream, the museum has lined up some brilliant experiences over the sunny months. From VR time-travel to seeing a historic painting and cosmic fun for the kids, this season is packed with reasons to swing by. Here's why you should book your next outing at Louvre Abu Dhabi. Cheaper tickets for UAE residents First off, there's a handy 30 percent off on online bookings for UAE residents, so tickets worth Dhs65 are now available for Dhs45. That's a decent little bonus for planning ahead. And if you're visiting with kids under 18, even better, there's a cosmic exhibition at the Children's Museum that's completely free for them. VR takes you back in time One of the biggest highlights this summer is the new Quantum Dome Project – a collective VR experience that's like a time machine. This 40-minute adventure lets you journey through Imperial Rome, medieval Baghdad and Mughal India in a race across centuries. Tickets are Dhs95 for Louvre Abu Dhabi's admission tickets holders. It's family-friendly, accessible by wheelchair users and available in Arabic, English and French. On weekdays, the last session kicks off at 6pm, while on weekends, it runs until 8pm. See Una Bulaqueña for the first time in the UAE Art lovers will want to make time for Una Bulaqueña, now on display for a year. Painted by the famed Filipino artist Juan Luna in 1895, this rare masterpiece is on loan from the Philippines and hasn't often been seen outside the country. There are some exciting new arrivals worth checking out as well. From a striking portrait of Kosa Pan, Siam's first ambassador to France, to a dreamy Venetian scene by Canaletto, the latest additions span continents and centuries. There's also a self-portrait by 19th-century French artist Antoinette Haudebourt-Lescot, a bold abstract work by Kandinsky, and a limestone head of a youth from ancient Cyprus. Whatever age of history you want to travel back to, there's plenty to admire on your next visit. Take kids to see a space-themed experience at the Children's Museum There's a must-see space-themed experience called Picturing the Cosmos at Louvre Abu Dhabi's Children's Museum. Spread across three floors, the exhibition invites young minds to think about how different cultures throughout time have viewed the stars, planets and universe. There are plenty of hands-on games and activities to keep them entertained while learning something new (bonus points for that). Go on a Family Treasure Hunt And if you've got young adventurers in tow, don't miss the Family Treasure Hunt. It's a mobile game available in five languages – Arabic, English, French, Chinese and Russian – designed to keep curious minds busy. All you need is your phone. Scan the code, follow the clues, and explore the permanent galleries in a fresh, puzzle-solving way. From Dhs45. Open Tue-Thu, 10am-6.30pm (exhibition), Fri-Sun, 10am-8.30pm. Closed on Mon. Saadiyat Cultural District, Saadiyat Island, .

Who is Constance Marten's evangelical mum Virginie de Selliers and siblings?
Quite possibly. In 2008 — two years after Constance's gap year trip to Nigeria — she enrolled in an undergraduate Arabic course at Leeds University, the chapter in which she featured as Tatler magazine's 'Babe of the Month' and took trips to Nepal and Egypt. After university, she moved to London like the majority of her fellow graduates, working as a researcher for Arabic TV network Al Jazeera and gaining an NCTJ qualification in journalism before enrolling on an acting course at East 15 drama school in Essex. Friends say the young aristocrat was a 'very good actress' and could have gone far, but it was during this time that she started to change. She lost interest in acting and dropped out of the course after a run-in with a course tutor. Around that same time, she began a supposedly turbulent relationship with a man we now know to be Mark Gordon, who she met in an 'Indian shop' selling incense in 2014, and started living with him in Ilford, east London. 'Please respect my decision, I don't want to see any of you any more, please don't try and find me or contact me, thank you, goodbye,' was the rough wording of the text Constance sent friends and family in the summer of 2016. She later claimed in court that she stopped speaking to her family two years before meeting Gordon.

Berlin's Superior Court of Justice agreed to a trial behind closed doors TAY 'BOMB' TRIAL Teen, 15, on trial over ISIS suicide plot to bomb Taylor Swift concert causing UK shows to be axed A TEEN has gone on trial over an IS suicide plot to bomb a Taylor Swift concert that led to three of the pop star's shows being axed and tighter security at her UK dates. The lad, 15, named as Mohammad A, is accused of translating bomb instructions from Arabic and sending them to the alleged mastermind. 2 Taylor Swift's concerts were supposed to take place at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna before they were cancelled due to the terror threats 2 Taylor later said she felt a 'tremendous amount of guilt' and 'new sense of fear' over threats faced by her fans Credit: Getty Austrian Beran A, 19, allegedly planned a suicide blast at an Eras tour gig in Vienna last August. German-educated Syrian Mohammad A was nicked on the day the gigs were axed after his name was found in Beran A's contacts, it was said. Shake it Off singer Taylor later said she felt a 'tremendous amount of guilt' and 'new sense of fear' over threats faced by her fans. Berlin's Superior Court of Justice agreed to a trial behind closed doors. Berlin's Superior Court of Justice agreed with his defence lawyers' request for a private trial due to his age and 'heated press coverage' of the case. Prosecutors say the teen started following Islamic State ideology in 2024 - and pledged loyalty to the terror group in a text. They have also said the main suspect in Austria, Beran A, was still under investigation. After the alleged plot emerged, Home Secretary Yvette Cooper and London Mayor Sadiq Khan were accused of pressing police into giving Taylor, 35, a blue-light escort for her gigs in the capital. The London Mayor was among Labour figures who bagged freebies to her sell-out shows which took place amid heightened security.
