NAREDCO all praise for Bhu Bharati, BuildNow in Telangana
Speaking to the media here, the NAREDCO members asserted that the Bhu Bharti portal will serve as a restructured and more efficient version of Dharani portal, addressing challenges by simplifying processes, correcting legacy errors and improving public confidence in land ownership records.
They said that Bhu Bharati is a modernised Record of Rights (RoR) system that provides clean and verified land titles essential for reducing legal risks and supporting developers in making secure, informed investment decisions.
NAREDCO president Vijaya Sai Meka said: 'The Bhu Bharathi initiative marks a significant stride toward a transparent and efficient land administration system in Telangana. Alongside this, the BuildNow application is set to streamline building and layout approvals, further easing project execution for developers".
"NAREDCO Telangana believes this initiative will bring immense value to developers, investors and buyers alike. The Council is committed to working closely with the government to ensure that the real estate sector maximises the benefits of this progressive reform,' he added.
He further said that the Bhu Bharati portal was a vital reform aimed at transforming the state's land governance framework. The core objective of this initiative is to establish a transparent, efficient and legally robust land administration system that strengthens land security, reduces disputes, and simplifies property transactions, he added.
The Council also urged the government to maintain an open channel of communication with industry stakeholders to ensure seamless implementation, ongoing improvements and user-friendly access to the Bhu Bharathi platform.
Such collaboration is essential to positioning Telangana as a model for land reforms that not only support economic development but also build a future-ready and investor-friendly real estate environment, the members said.

NCERT Class 8 Social Science book sparks royal outrage: Map ‘factually baseless, historically misleading,' says Jaisalmer king
On August 4, Chaitanya Raj Singh Bhati, King (Maharawal) of the erstwhile kingdom of Jaisalmer, raised a pointed objection to a historical map published in the new National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) Class 8 Social Science textbook. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now In a post shared on X, he drew attention to a map on page 71 of the chapter The Rise of the Marathas , where Jaisalmer appears as a part of the Maratha Empire, a depiction he calls 'historically misleading, factually baseless, and deeply objectionable.' 'This issue is not merely a textbook error but appears to be an attempt to tarnish the sacrifices, sovereignty, and valorous saga of our ancestors,' Chaitanya Raj Singh Bhati wrote in a public statement, tagging Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and the NCERT. 'In the context of the Jaisalmer princely state, no authentic historical sources mention any Maratha dominance, invasion, taxation, or authority.' His post also claimed that 'our royal records clearly state that the Maratha never had any interference in the Jaisalmer princely state.' Calling for immediate correction, he urged authorities to take 'prompt and concrete action' and termed the matter one that affects 'historical dignity, self-respect, and the integrity of the national curriculum.' Between accuracy and accountability Chaitanya Raj Singh Bhati's remarks on the map fall within this broader context of curricular changes and evolving approaches to historical content. As of now, NCERT has not made a public statement regarding the specific concern about the representation of Jaisalmer. In his post, he referred to the depiction as one that affects 'public sentiments' and expressed concern on behalf of the 'entire Jaisalmer family.' The post underscores the role of visual elements like maps in shaping how historical boundaries and political affiliations are understood by students. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The ongoing conversation reflects how academic materials are being reviewed, interpreted, and engaged with by a wider set of voices. Whether through written text or cartographic detail, the question of historical accuracy continues to draw attention as part of India's education discourse. NCERT Class 8 Social Science book : Other updates This critique surfaces at a time when NCERT has already found itself at the centre of a larger pedagogical shift. As part of its revised National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF SE) 2023, the Council's new Class 8 Social Science textbook also presents major political transformations between the 13th and 17th centuries, including the rise and decline of the Delhi Sultanate, the Mughal dynasty, and the emergence of Sikh resistance. The new edition notably invites learners to examine India's medieval past with what NCERT describes as 'objectivity' and encourages them not to assign modern-day blame for historical events. 'Understanding the historical origin of cruel violence, abusive misrule, or misplaced ambitions of power is the best way to heal the past and build a future where, hopefully, they will have no place,' the Council said in a statement quoted by ANI. Among the most recent updates in the textbook is the reframing of Babur and Akbar's legacies. The founder of the Mughal dynasty is introduced as both a military tactician and a figure whose campaigns involved the destruction of temples, drawing from Babur's own memoirs. Akbar, often remembered for his policies of religious accommodation, is now described as 'a blend of brutality and tolerance, shaped by ambition and strategy.' His role in the 1568 siege of Chittorgarh is noted alongside his efforts to include Rajput leaders in his court and translate Hindu epics into Persian. Aurangzeb's reign is similarly explored through both political and religious lenses. Students are introduced to his decisions to reinstate the jizya, destroy temples in cities such as Banaras and Mathura, and suppress minority groups. Yet the framing remains focused on helping students interpret history as 'a record of choices, consequences, and contradictions.' Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is noted in some historical accounts for initiating efforts to restore damaged temples and support Hindu cultural practices. Bottom line For students navigating India's evolving curriculum, the debate over how history is represented is no longer just about facts and timelines. It is about the lens through which young learners understand power, resistance, and regional identity. As conversations around historical accuracy and cultural sensitivity gain momentum, the current episode serves as a reminder that textbooks are not just repositories of information. They are tools that shape civic understanding and generational memory. What gets included, omitted, or contested will continue to influence how history is taught, and how it is remembered. Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana forms panel to probe bench-hunting plaints
The Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana has constituted a panel to look into complaints of 'bench hunting' to obtain favourable order at the Punjab and Haryana high court. Council chairman Rakesh Gupta said the privilege committee, headed by Raj Kumar Chauhan, a member of the Bar Council, has been asked to immediately start the proceedings on the same. Bench hunting or forum shopping refers to petitioners managing to get their cases heard by a particular judge or bench to ensure favourable order. Bench hunting or forum shopping refers to petitioners managing to get their cases heard by a particular judge or bench to ensure favourable order. In May, a senior judge of the high court had hinted at a possible case of bench hunting in a matter involving a Gurugram realtor and a former judicial officer. It had come to light in that case that a particular lawyer was taken as the filing counsel only to get the case de-listed from a particular judge. However, Gupta did not confirm whether the same case was being investigated and said, 'A few names have to come to us.' The council is the statutory body with 1.5 lakh members across two states and Chandigarh. It has regulatory control over the Bars and regulates entry into the legal profession and also adjudicates complaints against lawyers. It is established under the Advocates Act, 1961, and is headquartered in Chandigarh. 'The committee is authorised to adopt all procedures, including issuance of notice, recording statement, summoning the record, if any as provided under the Advocates Act, if so required. The said committee is also authorised to collect all the information, data, record from various agencies, including press, high court and other sources, if so required,' the statement put out by the chairman said. As per Gupta, some of the members of Bar Council had pointed out to him that some advocates of high court, to secure 'favourable orders' from a particular bench or avoiding to appear before a bench, are doing bench-hunting. 'This is a serious misuse of the privileges granted to advocates under the Advocates Act. At the same time, it is a responsibility of the Bar Council to maintain dignity, status and reputation of the legal profession,' said Gupta, adding that he had come across one such case. An inquiry would be conducted to avoid such 'unethical activities', he added.

Saquon Barkley rejects Donald Trump's fitness council after being ‘appointed' without agreement
Saquon Barkley Publicly Denies Role on Trump's Council After Being Named Without Consent. (Eric Hartline-Imagn Images) Imagine opening social media and finding out you've been 'appointed' to a government council without ever saying yes. That's exactly what happened to Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, who recently discovered his name listed on President Donald Trump 's newly revived President's Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition. While the White House made it sound official, Barkley says, 'hold up, I never agreed to this.' And just like that, the internet went into full-blown chaos. Turns out, Barkley had been approached months ago about joining but he declined. So, what gives? Either someone messed up big time, or the Trump team jumped the gun. Saquon Barkley says he declined the invitation and was shocked to see his name listed Barkley didn't mince words, he told reporters he was 'shocked' to see his name on Trump's official list for the fitness council. Apparently, he had been contacted months ago to join, but respectfully turned it down due to time commitments and NFL priorities. His reaction? 'I told them I couldn't commit, and I never heard back. So I was surprised to see it go public.' In short: Barkley was never officially on board. And now that his name is being used without consent, he's speaking out to clear the air. Donald Trump's announcement featured big names but not all of them were confirmed members On July 31, Trump proudly announced his new roster for the revamped President's Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition. The list included 49ers star Nick Bosa and Saquon Barkley. The goal? Bring back the classic Presidential Physical Fitness Test and promote health across the country. But Barkley's pushback raises a major red flag: Were all the names on that list actually confirmed? Or was the announcement made prematurely, banking on star power before locking people in? Social media wasted no time turning this story into meme material. Some joked that Trump 'drafted' Barkley like it was fantasy football. Others compared it to being added to a group project without volunteering. A few even wondered if any other athletes would speak up next. Barkley says this isn't about politics, he just didn't sign up for this For the record, Saquon Barkley made it clear: this isn't a political statement. He's not throwing shots at Trump or taking sides. He's simply staying focused on his real job, prepping for a massive season with the Philadelphia Eagles. And he's setting a boundary that a lot of fans are applauding: Don't use someone's name unless they've officially said yes. So while his name might still appear in the official announcement, Barkley isn't playing ball on this one.
