Udaipur Files Producer Amit Jani Granted Y-Category Security with Restricted Movement
Producer Amit Jani of Udaipur Files gets Y-category security from the Central government due to threats. The protection includes 11 CRPF personnel, limited to North India.
Amit Jani, the producer of the controversial upcoming film Udaipur Files, has been granted Y-category security following threats received in connection with the project. The Central government has sanctioned this security arrangement, although it will only be effective in parts of North India.
The Ministry of Home Affairs' Y-category protection includes 11 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel. However, the protection is limited to specific regions, including Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. This means Jani will not have access to the same level of security in other parts of the country.
Confirming the news, Jani expressed his gratitude on social media. Sharing the update on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, 'Heartfelt thanks to Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and Home Minister Shri Amit Shah ji for providing Y category security to the Centre @narendramodi @AmitShah @HMOIndia @PMOIndia".

Udaipur Files is based on the real-life murder of Kanhaiya Lal, a tailor from Udaipur who was killed in 2022 after he allegedly posted content on social media in support of BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma. Her comments on the Prophet Muhammad had sparked a nationwide controversy at the time. Following the murder, the accused had uploaded a video online, claiming responsibility for the act and stating that it was in retaliation for the tailor's online post.
One of the accused in the case, Javed, approached the Supreme Court seeking a stay on the release of the film. Earlier, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) ordered 150 cuts in the film before clearing it for release.
Initially scheduled to hit theatres on July 11, 2025, Udaipur Files: Kanhaiya Lal Tailor Murder will now release on August 8, 2025. The film features Vijay Raaz in the lead role and has faced delays due to censorship and legal hurdles.

Former Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai on Monday slammed Chief Minister MK Stalin after a video, widely shared on social media, showed a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan from Tamil Nadu complaining of inaction after theft at her residence. In a video posted on X, the jawan identified herself as Kalavati, and could be seen crying inconsolably, as she alleged that some jewellery at her house in Tamil Nadu's Katpadi had been stolen in June this year. 'My name is Kalavati. I work in the CRPF in Jammu and Kashmir. I'm from Narayanapuram village near Ponnai, Katpadi in Tamil Nadu," she said. 'We are four members in our family, my parents, my brother, and me. When my brother was out on the 24th at nearly 3.30 pm, somebody broke into our house and robbed all the jewels bought for my marriage," she alleged in the video. 'When my mother returned at 5.30 pm, she saw the locks broken. My father returned at nearly 6 pm and found there was not even a single jewel left in the house. Both of them helplessly cried," she said. 'My brother returned from work, saw them in distress and called the police. Nobody took action because on the 25th, they were busy with arrangements for the Chief Minister," the jawan said in the video. 'The fingerprint analyst came only at 12.30 pm the next day," she said. 'They filed an FIR only on June 28. I tried my best in all possible ways, but they are not taking up the case," she alleged, adding, 'My family is helpless, not knowing what to do." 'Some jewels, Rs 50,000 in cash, and silk sarees were stolen," she said. Taking a note of the video, Annamalai, in an X post, wrote, 'A CRPF jawan from Tamil Nadu, serving with honour at our nation's borders in J&K, is forced to take to social media on police inaction on the case of jewellery theft from her residence near Katpadi in June this year."
