'Seriously injured' person rescued in Cumbrian valley
Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team was called out on July 13 after the person fell from steep ground, sustaining multiple injuries.
Seventeen team members responded, prepared for a combined medical and technical rope rescue.
However, the North West Air Ambulance Charity's helicopter, Helimed 75, landed close to the casualty, allowing the crew to access and begin medical assessment and treatment.
When the rescue team arrived, they assisted in carefully helping the casualty into a stretcher before transferring them to the helicopter.
The casualty was then flown to the hospital for further treatment.
A spokesperson from Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team said: "We wish him a quick and speedy recovery."
They also thanked the crew of Helimed 75 for their support.
The incident lasted almost five hours, with the team finishing at 8.11pm.

Law will change to stop attackers fixated on violence, says Home Secretary
Yvette Cooper has pledged to change the law to treat people fixated on violence as seriously as terrorists in the wake of last year's Southport attack. The Home Secretary said she would address a 'gap in the law' against planning mass casualty attacks that had no ideological basis, but could be 'just as serious' as terrorism in their impact. She said: 'We have to make sure that the system is able to respond to violent fixated individuals. We will tighten that legislation so that that is taken as seriously as terrorism.' Her commitment, first made in an interview with the BBC, would implement a recommendation from the independent reviewer of terrorism legislation, Jonathan Hall KC, who examined whether terror laws needed to be changed to deal with people such as Southport attacker Axel Rudakubana. The review was prompted by revelations that Rudakubana had been referred to the counter-extremism Prevent programme, but his case had not been followed up as he lacked an ideological motivation. He went on to murder three young girls and seriously wound 10 other people at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport last year and is currently serving a life sentence. Mr Hall's review recommended against widening the definition of terrorism to include individuals such as Rudakubana, but suggested creating a new offence to deal with people who plan mass casualty attacks motivated by personal grievance or an obsession with violence for its own sake. Ms Cooper said there was now a 'pattern' of teenagers being 'drawn into extreme violence and extreme ideologies' in their own bedrooms thanks to 'a really distorted and warped online world'. She said: 'The sorts of things that we're now increasingly seeing online with violent fixated individuals, where there may not be a clear ideology, it may be a fixation with violence, or they may switch between different ideologies.'

Council investigates new park tree branch collapse
A council will investigate how a tree branch collapsed in one of its parks three weeks after a falling branch killed a young girl, its leader said. Seven-year-old Leonna Ruka suffered a fatal head injury and four other children were injured when part of a cedar fell at Chalkwell Park in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, on 28 June. On Saturday, a large fallen branch of a fir tree was discovered in the city's Priory Park, which is also maintained by the city council. "Tree specialists have been working in Priory Park all week carrying out inspections and maintenance, and we're working to understand what happened in this case," said Daniel Cowan, Labour. The council's tree surgeons removed the branch and inspected the rest of the tree on Saturday, he added. Further pictures on Your Southend showed some of the branch had collapsed on to a cycle path. Last month, up to 50 people tried to lift part of a 350-year-old tree when it trapped five children underneath it in Chalkwell Park. They included Leona, who was on a day trip from Dagenham, east London, and her six-year-old cousin, who remains critically ill in hospital. The remaining three had minor injuries. An inquest into Leona's death was opened and adjourned on Wednesday, with Essex Police and the Health and Safety Executive continuing to investigate the incident. (Image: Submitted) "Fortunately, it is believed that the weapon is an imitation, but our communities can be reassured by the swift response from our officers and the arrests that have been made.' Traffic slowed at 5pm around the city centre as armed officers and two reported dog units parked outside St Martin's Gate Car Park during the incident. Crowds of onlookers lined the street as police attended the scene and other shoppers stopped to take pictures of the police helicopter circling overhead. One eyewitness on the scene said they saw police take three people in handcuffs after several officers were seen entering an alleyway off St Martin's Gate. He said: "Three men were arrested and taken out of a property in handcuffs. Two of them were topless. "There were five police cars and two dog units outside the car park. 'I would estimate around ten armed police officers.' Another eyewitness added: "There were two officers with machine guns, who were talking to a man sitting on the floor on the roundabout next door to Pure Gym." All three men remain in custody as enquiries continue.
