Forty years ago in the village of Chandarpur, a newborn girl was sacrificed to Maa Kali—an offering meant to appease an ancient demon known as the Daitya, who resides in a cursed tree at the village's edge.
Ambika (Kajol) and Shuvankar (Indraneil Sengupta) belong to a family bound by this dark legacy, where each generation is cursed to offer their daughters to the demon. Determined to break the cycle, the couple flee the village to raise their daughter, Shweta (Kherin Sharma), in safety.
But after Shuvankar's sudden and mysterious death, Ambika is forced to return to Chandarpur with Shweta to sell their ancestral home, unaware that the past they escaped is ready to awaken. Could have been better…
The film does drag a bit in the beginning! While most of the visual effects land well, a few moments clearly need a bit more finesse.
The climactic showdown with the demon packs intensity, but surprisingly, it doesn't feel as gripping as you'd expect given the life-or-death stakes. One major miss is the Shaitaan connection — it feels like an afterthought. Had that thread been woven more tightly into the narrative, the impact could've been far more powerful.
Nevertheless, it's a good watch.
