Florida football leads the recruiting battle for this 4-star defensive lineman
Four-star Parker (Birmingham, Alabama) defensive lineman Vodney Cleveland was one of the many recruits in Gainesville this weekend for the Orange and Blue Game, and he left The Swamp with Florida on top of his list, according to On3 Gators Online.
'I would probably say Florida is No. 1,' Cleveland said to Gators Online. 'Actually being able to get there to kind of get a game-day experience and seeing the guys compete against each other and work stood out."
Cleveland already thinks highly of several Florida defensive linemen. He mentioned Micah Boireau, Caleb Banks and D'antre Robinson by name, and he's forming a connection with several members of the staff. D-line coach Gerald Chatman is naturally a big part of his recruitment, but running backs coach Jabbar Juluke is also stepping up. He enjoyed the game day atmosphere in The Swamp and so did his parents.
Official visit coming up
This was Cleveland's third visit to Florida, and he already knows when he'll be back. Cleveland has penciled in the weekend of May 30 for an official visit, one of six he has on his schedule. Auburn, Georgia, Miami, North Carolina and Texas are the others.
Auburn is probably the biggest competition for Florida right now, but the cycle doesn't end for another 8-10 months. Those official visits could loom large when Cleveland makes his decision.

Guardians-Royals game postponed due to weather

The first game of a three-game series between the Cleveland Guardians and the Kansas City Royals scheduled for Friday night has been postponed due to inclement weather. The game will be made up as part of a split doubleheader on Saturday. Cleveland's Tanner Bibee (6-9, 4.27 ERA) and Kansas City's Kris Bubic (8-6, 2.38) are expected to start the afternoon game, while the Guardians' Joey Cantillo (2-0, 3.91) is scheduled to start against the Royals' Noah Cameron (4-4, 2.61) in the nightcap. The Guardians took three out of four from the Orioles in their most recent series and have won seven of their last nine games to climb back to .500 (51-51). The Royals (50-53) have won three of their last four games. ___ AP MLB:

Former Texas A&M Edge officially signs 4-year rookie deal with the Cincinnati Bengals

The drama surrounding former Texas A&M edge Shemar Stewart, who was selected 17th overall by the Cincinnati Bengals in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, is finally over, as ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter has announced that Stewart has finally signed his four-year rookie deal with the Franchise, accepting a fully guaranteed $18.97 million contract that includes a $10.4 million signing bonus. Over the last few weeks, one of the craziest rumors regarding Stewart's offseason workouts in Texas A&M's facility involved the former five-star prospect potentially returning to the team for a final season if the Bengals has not come to an agreement, which was swiftly denied by head coach Mike Elko, who was likely in constant communication with his former starter during the entirety of the frustrating process. Stewart's workouts with the Aggies have been beneficial during his time away, but it was absolutely vital for the Bengals' front office to sign him this week, just a couple of days after the start of training camp. The Miami native is in the developmental stage of his NFL career, after recording just 4.5 career sacks in three seasons at Texas A&M. New Bengals defensive coordinator Al Golden has his work cut out for him to turn Stewart into a premier pass rusher. At 6'5" and nearly 270 pounds, Stewart is an athletic freak after running a 4.59 40-yard dash, a 1.58 10-yard split, and recording a 40-inch vertical and a 10'11" broad jump at the NFL Combine. These measurements are a huge reason why he was a first-round selection, and, outside of his already established work ethic, is already one of the better rookie run defenders. The drama is over, and we can all be thankful for that.
