Eurovision 2025's final brings in two million more viewers than FA Cup Final
The grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 brought in two million more viewers than the FA Cup Final, the BBC revealed. On 17 May, millions of fans gathered with their friends with snacks and drinks to watch a night of camp performances, tear-jerking ballads, dance tunes and quirky dances.
Unfortunately, the UK's entrant, Remember Monday, was dealt a huge blow and left the competition with only 88 points, while Austria's JJ, real name Johannes Pietsch, won the competition with their incredible song, Wasted Love. The event received a peak of 7.9 million viewers, with an average of 6.7 million viewers.
However, it was a decline on the viewing figures from last year's competition in Malmo, Sweden, which saw 7.9 million tune in with a peak of 8.5 million.
Many fans chose to boycott the last two events due to Israel's controversial participation in the show amid the country's ongoing bombardment of Palestine, which is seeing Palestinians starving to death due to a blockade of aid.
Meanwhile, UK's Remember Monday recently spoke out about their doomed performance with a statement on Sunday morning.
They said in a statement to the Mirror: "WOW - what a ride! Three best mates walked onto the world 's biggest music stage and came out with a Top 10 Jury score, massive streaming numbers, and memories that will last a lifetime.
"Performing at Eurovision was one of the most surreal and emotional moments of our lives. The love we've felt from fans, our incredible team, and everyone who streamed, voted, and believed in us has been overwhelming.
"This is just the beginning for Remember Monday. We've got new music coming your way, a UK & Ireland headline tour this year, a summer packed with festivals, and we'll be hitting the stage at Wembley Stadium for the Summertime Ball… no big deal!
"We're so grateful for the platform, the media support, and every single new fan who's joined us on this wild journey. Eurovision? Completed it. Let's go! Charlotte, Holly and Lauren x."
Speaking on the night of their performance, commentator Graham Norton said: 'We couldn't have asked for more."
Over on Twitter, viewers were picking up on the West End vibes the girls gave off. 'Say all you want about this song being just a random West End number, you cannot deny that Remember Monday's chemistry together on stage is immaculate,' one wrote.
'They really look like they're having the time of their lives on the #Eurovision stage!'
Other notable performances included Maltese singer Miriana Conte with Serving, which was renamed from Kant due to its resemblance to a swearword, and Switzerland's Zoe Me with the powerful Voyage.

It comes as the strongest sign yet of the agreement of both parties to resolve their bitter feud which has now spanned on over the course of five years, the Mirror reports. A royal source told the Mirror: "The King has consistently shown he loves both his sons and as he has done in the past is prepared to meet Harry when their diaries allow such an occasion. "It's not unusual for aides from different households to meet, especially when there is a new influx of staff starting their roles, but of course this is a significant moment. The monarchy has spent years dealing with the aftermath of Harry and Meghan's decision to quit the Royal Family in 2002 after the two hit out at the Firm with public attacks and left their royal duties behind. Most recently, Harry did an interview with the BBC in May and said he "would love a reconciliation" with his family but confessed that the King "won't speak to me because of this security stuff". Harry was referring to the removal of his police security detail in the UK which he branded an "old-fashioned establishment stitch-up" as he hinted that his father could have resolved the situation. In the bombshell interview, the duke even said: "I would like to get my father and brother back." However, Harry's 2023 memoir Spare was said to be the final straw for the Prince of Wales as it made many shocking accusations against not just William but also his wife Kate and the rest of the senior members of the Firm.

Line of Duty star's 'challenging' new BBC drama gets exciting update
Praised by critics for addressing one of the most important issues of our time, Jimmy McGovern's latest series has been hotly anticipated by viewers. The Time writer is no stranger to taking difficult topics and unpacking them in an engaging manner to audiences. Whether it was Sean Bean's character going into prison for drunk driving or a priest dealing with his childhood trauma in Broken, the writer has earned a loyal fanbase. And ahead of the release of Unforgiveable airing on BBC, the excitement around his work certainly does not seem to be dying. Now, however, fans can expect to get even more excited after an exciting update was revealed. Starring Bobby Schofield as Joe and Line of Duty's Anna Maxwell Martin as Katherine, an ex-nun and therapist working at St Maura's, the series features an all-star cast. The first trailer for the series shows us Joe, a man who has served his prison sentence after committing an act of abuse, having a therapy session with Katherine. After being released, he also has to come face to face with his family once again. A description of the series reads: 'The Mitchell family deal with the devastating aftermath of an act of sexual abuse committed by a member of their own family who, after two years, is about to leave prison.' But, in an exciting update, we now know exactly when the series is going to air. Following an announcement from the BBC, all three episodes will be released on BBC iPlayer at 6am on Thursday July 24. The first episode will then also air on the same day from 9pm. When the cast for the series was first confirmed, McGovern told Radio Times: 'I can't believe the cast and crew that have been assembled for this production. It's a challenging film, yes, but I can't wait for it to be shown.' This comes after Netflix added all four episodes of a 'gripping' spy thriller starring another Line of Duty star.
