Luka Doncic Has Dropped 'Significant Weight' Ahead Of Revenge Season For The Lakers originally appeared on Fadeaway World.
In the aftermath of his shocking move, Luka Doncic is set to make the Mavericks regret ever letting him go. According to the latest intel out of Los Angeles, the 5x All-Star is in the best shape of his life as he prepares for his first full season as a Laker.

'Doncic has been incredibly committed to his conditioning this offseason," wrote Dan Woike of The Athletic. "He's dropped significant weight and is working on a strict diet and cardio training, according to a source with knowledge of the plan. In a shift from his normal offseason, he spent a month away from on-court work to focus more on his body.'
Luka is notorious for being out of shape, but he's committed to a plan this summer that will keep him active in the weight room and the gym. Of course, he also plans to participate in EuroBasket 2025 this summer, which will add another layer of training and conditioning to his offseason schedule.
"Doncic has looked visibly slimmer in photos and is now back working out with Slovenia, readying for EuroBasket competition later this summer," wrote Woike.
Usually, Doncic spends most of his offseason doing on-court work, whether it's shooting drills or hardcore practice sessions. It's better than nothing, of course, but it failed to have Luka ready by opening night.

This summer, Luka is taking a different approach by focusing more on his body and weight. He's being intentional about shedding any extra pounds and is trading some of his on-court practice time for more exercise on the cardio machine.
Only time will tell if this work pays off, but some fans have already noticed positive results. In the few photos and videos we've seen of Luka this summer, he's looked a lot slimmer and in some of the best shape we've ever seen him.
It's a major contrast from last season, when Doncic was causing concern with his poor conditioning. His weight fluctuated throughout the campaign, frequently exceeding 230 pounds as he struggled not to lose his breath every time he was on the court.
With averages of 28.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 7.7 assists per game on 43.8% shooting last season, Doncic carried the Mavericks offensively until February's deadline, when he was forced to adjust on the fly to his new team.

It was, in part, due to Luka's lack of conditioning that the Mavericks let him go so suddenly. According to GM Nico Harrison, they want players with a winner's mentality, and that means guys who play both ends of the floor while putting in the work to maintain their bodies. The Mavericks lost faith that Doncic could be that guy for them, and now they have those expectations for Cooper Flagg.
For Luka to prove them wrong, he'll have to deliver his best season yet for the Lakers. With a summer of training and working out, Doncic will be more ready than he's ever been to deliver high-quality basketball, and he'll be playing with an added chip on his shoulder after hearing all the rumors that have damaged his legacy.
The Mavericks have awakened a beast inside Luka, and now the whole league will have to deal with the fallout as he looks to prove that the Mavericks made the biggest mistake by trading him with no warning.

Jaden Akins looking for next opportunity following being unselected in NBA Draft

Former Spartan Jaden Akins went unselected in NBA Draft this week -- so what's next for him? Here's the latest on Akins What's next for former Spartans star Jaden Akins? That's still an unanswered question following the NBA Draft. Akins went unselected during the 2025 NBA Draft this week, with the lone Spartan selected being Jase Richardson by the Orlando Magic with the No. 25 overall pick. Akins wasn't expected to be selected in the two rounds of the NBA Draft, but there was always an outside chance someone would take a flier on him. So what's next for Akins now? Well, we should be seeing him picked up by a team as an undrafted free agent ahead of the NBA summer league. Oddly, though, we haven't seen Akins sign anywhere yet -- which I personally expected to happen by the end of the weekend. Akins started all 72 of the Spartans' games over the last two seasons, averaging double-digits in scoring in both years and providing stellar defensive presence as well. He is slightly undersized for the NBA, though, which ultimately hurt his professional stock in the NBA. Akins worked out for a few teams during the pre-draft process, including the Utah Jazz and Milwaukee Bucks, so we should keep our eyes out for either of those teams signing him for summer league play. I anticipate he will be getting a chance to show what he has at the next level during summer league, and we should hopefully hear of a signing in the next week. AJ Dybantsa Reveals LeBron James Workouts And Mamba Motivation

AJ Dybantsa Reveals LeBron James Workouts And Mamba Motivation originally appeared on Athlon Sports. For AJ Dybantsa, his future aspirations are pretty cut and dry. He'll spend the next year at BYU under the guidance of Kevin Young before making a leap to the NBA. That's the plan currently being implemented and will be fun to watch. Advertisement The top incoming basketball recruit recently made the cover of Men's Health with a feature piece as part of the top athletes in the high school class of 2025. Dybantsa shared insight about his future and how he's being groomed as the next NBA star. An amazing factor about him comes after he reclassified up a year to attend BYU early. Dybantsa's game—a mix of above-the-rim finishing, midrange shot making, and elastic defense—is already at a pro level. 'I've worked out with Bron,' Dybantsa drops casually, referring to NBA ironman LeBron James. 'I've worked out with a lot of the top guys. I wish I had the chance to work out with Kobe.' He cites Bryant's Mamba mentality as an inspiration and wears Nike Kobe 5s. If there is one player who fits the mold of the NBA's next generation, Dybantsa has got next. Kobe left us all prematurely, but his top-notch approach still lives on through one of AJ's mentors, Kevin Durant, who is another player helping guide Dybantsa's career. The newest member of the Houston Rockets had Young as an assistant coach during their time together with the Phoenix Suns. Related: BYU phenom AJ Dybantsa shows off Nike 'Air Bakin' KD18 player edition It was widely reported BYU offered Dybansta a $5 million NIL package, but money wasn't the deciding factor. The culture with Young's NBA-ready system spoke volumes to the nation's top talent, leaving him blown away by the direction the Cougars were headed in. Dybantsa also gained deals with Red Bull and Nike before stepping foot on campus. But said he hasn't gotten to the point of splurging yet. Even though, he recently took the title as college basketball's top NIL earner. Advertisement There's no doubt that Dybantsa will be one of the most electrifying players to watch next season. Bucks' Aggressive Stance on Trades Amid Giannis Antetokounmpo Rumors: Report

Bucks' Aggressive Stance on Trades Amid Giannis Antetokounmpo Rumors: Report originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks have had numerous trade rumors since their early playoff exit. Many believe that Antetokounmpo will soon request a trade given the lack of postseason success over the past three years. The Bucks have been unlucky since winning the NBA championship in 2021 and have explored other options to contend. Advertisement However, recent reports show that the Bucks aren't willing to part ways with their best player. The feeling is the same with Antetokounmpo. The Greek Freak hinted that he'll stay in Milwaukee in an interview with Coast to Coast Brazil. However, there has been no official confirmation on a decision. Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo during game five of the first round of the 2025 NBA Ruszkowski-Imagn Images Amid the trade rumors, ESPN's Bobby Marks reported that the Bucks will be aggressive in acquiring pieces that complement Antetokounmpo. That hinted that the organization won't part ways with the two-time MVP and will maximize the offseason to make proper free agency signings and trades. "However, sources confirmed to ESPN that Milwaukee will be aggressively exploring options in free agency and trades to complement Antetokounmpo," Marks wrote. Advertisement Antetokounmpo and the Bucks will enter the 2025-26 season without the team's second-best player, Damian Lillard. He will use most of the entire campaign recovering from a torn Achilles. Marks added that the Bucks are allowed to use the $14.1 million non-tax midlevel exception to sign Gary Trent Jr. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard will be an unrestricted free agent in the summer. Trent increased his value during the postseason, when he became the second-best player behind Antetokounmpo. The ESPN analyst also said that Milwaukee could use the non-tax midlevel exception to sign a temporary guard replacement for the injured Lillard. The franchise has the $5.1 million biannual exception available in the offseason. Marks reported that it could be used to retain big men Brook Lopez and Bobby Portis Jr. Related: Giannis Antetokounmpo Teases Decision on Blockbuster Trade Amid NBA Rumors This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jun 19, 2025, where it first appeared.
