Chairman of the Carnew Agricultural Show committee Alan Kinsella, said the community support was fantastic. 'We were pleasantly surprised at the turnout on the day, despite it being a maybe damp morning and the forecast giving rain - but it didn't dampen our spirits.
'This year the ground conditions were very hard, but we still had a spectacular day. The crowd really hit the field around half two when the dog show and the ferry wagon took off,' Alan said.
As the show has evolved over the years, some things never change. The fan favourite events including the Pony Club games and the popular dog show returned for another year, with dogs dressing fancy for the special occasion.
Other events held on the day included the pet and poultry corner, the carriage driving competition and the main attraction, the many horse show competitions. Alan said that entries for the competitions increased from previous years, which he hopes will rise again at next year's show.
Alan thanked the community for supporting the show for another year. 'I want to thank the sponsors, a lot of local businesses in the area sponsor every year without fail - we wouldn't be able to run the show without them.'
He also thanked teams from other local community shows which helped out for the running of the Carnew Agricultural Show by proving equipment to support the smooth running of the day.
Last year, the Carnew Agricultural Show celebrated its 80th birthday and 75th birthday, marking the day with special guests including founding members from the committees beginning in 1944.
Alan thanked the landowners; Kinsella Estates, Carnew Limited and the Stephen's family in Umrigar for their support. 'Without them, we wouldn't have a show,' he said.
