PayPoint offers Counter Cash for free with no ATM fees
Now, convenience shops may have the answer. Around 30,000 shops across the UK now have PayPoint terminals, where customers can pay bills, drop off parcels, use energy credit vouchers, top up gas cards, electricity keys or Smart Meter cards.
Now, a growing number are also offering cash - from 1p to £50 - without a charge, and without customers even needing to make a purchase. It's particularly useful for account holders who may have less than £10 or £30 in an account, as they can get smaller amounts out in coins, a bit at a time.
PayPoint Counter Cash gives access to cash at thousands of shops across the country, as parenting blogger Men Behaving Dadly shared this week.
He said: "If you're anything like me, you really lose your s*** when you finally find an ATM and it's one of those that fleece you for a £1.85 fee before you can get your own money out. Somehow, I've only just discovered that loads and loads of convenience stores with PayPoint (they're literally everywhere, only outnumbered by vape shops and Costa) offer something called 'Counter Cash.'

A spokesperson for Glasgow Fort said: "Costa is getting a makeover! "The store will be temporarily closed from July 1 at 3:30pm to July 25 for refurbishment. "But don't worry — they're still here for your caffeine fix! "You can grab hot drinks and a selection of cakes & pastries from the takeaway hatch, open daily 8am–8pm." Costa Coffee last year announced a string of nationwide closures, as many of the big chains have been facing rising costs and falling footfall across the high street. Costa says it regularly reviews its store estate across the UK to ensure it's right for its communities and teams. This can include the closing or renovation of existing stores, or the opening of new stores. Costa brings back fan favourite drink to its menu TODAY with a Spanish twist – and it's even cheaper than last year
IF you're a coffee lover, Costa has brought back a fan favourite drink starting today. Available in both hot and iced versions, this tasty beverage is perfect for the unpredictable UK weather. 2 And while it may align perfectly with the British climate, this returning menu item now has a Spanish twist. Lattes have become all the rage with coffee fans, with quirky flavours now including matcha, pistachio, and even ube. However, the Spanish latte has managed to fly under the radar despite being a favourite among Costa customers. The coffee giant recently announced the return of the much-loved Spanish latte range. You can opt for a hot or iced version from your local Costa all summer long. Spanish latte flavour The drink is loosely inspired by a Café con Leche drink that is common in Spain. However, it has also been described as the cousin of a Vietnamese coffee. A Spanish latte consists of espresso and milk, with added sweetened condensed milk to make it rich and creamy. If you're a fan of sweet coffee, you'll really like this absolute dream drink. Costa customers can pick up the much-loved Spanish latte from £4.25. You can get stamps for spending in store and using a reusable cup. You get a free drink after collecting ten stamps, or beans as they are called. For a small latte, at £3.50, it's £35 to get a free coffee. Those going to a Costa store can earn an additional bean with a reusable cup, so that cuts the outlay down to £17.50 or buying five coffees. Second biggest energy firm giving half-price electricity to customers tomorrow afternoon
BRITAIN'S second biggest energy firm is giving away half-price electricity to customers tomorrow afternoon. British Gas customers can get two hours of half price electricity through its Green Flex event. 1 The major energy supplier runs the scheme when it's windy or sunny and lots of renewable energy is available. The event will run from 13:30pm and 15:30pm on Friday, July 4, meaning households can charge their smart devices and tackle a load of washing at a discounted cost. To sign up customers need to be a British Gas customers, have a smart meter and then register online for the PeakSave scheme. If you are already signed up for the scheme you do not need to anything extra to cash in on the savings. All savings will appear as a credit on customers' energy bills. These Green Flex events are in addition to the energy providers usual PeakSave Sunday scheme. This offers half price electricity on Sunday between 11am and 4pm. And if you are not with British Gas don't worry as plenty of other suppliers run similar schemes. Stop Making This Air Conditioning Mistake: How to Slash Your Summer Energy Bill Octopus Energy recently brought back its popular Saving Sessions for households. The scheme is a way for customers to earn rewards by reducing their electricity consumption during specific times when the national grid is under pressure. Octopus said the free electricity will be available during one-hour slots that will usually be held in the early afternoon. To be eligible for the scheme, you must be an Octoplus member, which is a free rewards program for the smart meter customers. New customers can sign up via the Octopus Energy app or online. Households will get a notification the day before a Saving Session letting them know the event is about to start. Octopus will use historical smart meter readings to work out a customer's typical energy use at that time of day. MORE ENERGY SAVING SCHEMES ScottishPower offers half-price electricity at weekends to its smart meter customers on both Saturday and Sunday. Those registered for Power Saver will receive the discounted rate every Saturday and Sunday between 11am and 4pm. Scottish Power will then credit your bill with money you've saved. To join the scheme, you will need to have a smart meter and then register for the scheme online. You can register online by visiting / For every month a customer's peak energy usage is less than 15%, they are entered into a prize draw.
