Meghan Trainor shares update on new music and reveals which pop divas she is taking inspiration from
The 31-year-old pop star - who is married to 'Spy Kids' actor Daryl Sabara and has Riley, four, as well as 22-month-old Barry with him - released her sixth studio album 'Timeless' just over a year ago but is already back in the studio working on her next record.
She told Reader's Digest: "I like to put on my list one thing a year that scares me, and then I want to make more babies. As crazy as that is, I want more children because I'm not tired enough. You know, bring it on.
"My husband, he's got a new manager, and he is going to get in to the acting world more again. And that's very exciting. So I'm going to be No. 1 supportive wife, and I'm writing an album now. I'm in the studio, and I'm writing a lot."
The 'To The Moon' hitmaker - who shot to fame with her signature hit 'All About That Bass' in 2014 and has since released tracks such as 'Made You Look' and 'NO' over the course of five albums - doesn't mind at all when "haters" try to compare her work to Christmas music but is also taking inspiration from the likes of Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan.
Meghan - whose festive album 'A Very Trainor Christmas' was released in 2020 - said: "I've been in the studio. So far, I've only had one session, but I always see people try to hate on me and go, 'Your music sounds like Christmas music,' and I'm like, 'That's my favorite.' I don't know—I'm trying to find a new pocket that's still my doo-wop, but it's also like how Sabrina Carpenter bringing the full band or Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan. I'm so inspired by all these amazing women taking over and just running the game, and I want to bring an instrument, man. I want to bring the band back. It's been me and my track and dancers for a minute, so I think I want to bring the band back."

Rocking on: How GemLife's musical residents are making life sing
When you think about retirement, what comes to mind? For GemLife Gold Coast resident Guy Scruton, it's starting a three-piece rock band dubbed The Gemtones. The best part? He doesn't have to imagine it – he's already living it. 'The Gemtones get together every Wednesday afternoon, but these days we're also meeting on weekends, so the community can come down and enjoy their time with us,' explains Scruton, who performs out of his garage alongside bandmates Trevor Rix and Mark Parry. Although he dabbled in music all his life, it wasn't until Scruton and his wife Cathy moved to GemLife Gold Coast, a luxury over-50s resort in Pimpama, mid-last year that he picked up the keyboard and saxophone once more. When Scruton discovered that Rix, his next-door neighbour, sang and played guitar, and that Parry, who lives across the street, was also learning guitar, sparks began to fly. 'Rehearsing became a feature in the street,' Scruton says. 'People within earshot would come and sit down with their eskies, then people from other areas got wind of it and started coming too. We've now performed for larger celebrations like Christmas, New Year's Eve, Australia Day, Melbourne Cup and Easter.' While The Gemtones may have found fame as a garage band, the trio (who cover hits from the 1950s through to the 2000s), will soon take centre stage at GemLife Gold Coast's new multimillion-dollar Country Club. 'We'll start doing rehearsals there and once a month we'll rock on in the club, so everyone gets to dance and have a good night,' Scruton says, adding that the band has become quite the social movement. 'Creating new friendships has been a delight,' he says. 'We all have different stories and interests and come from different walks of life, but we're all like-minded people.'

Dave Grohl led the A-list celebrities braving the rain on day three of Wimbledon. The Foo Fighters frontman, 56, looked the part in his glistening suit as he walked through the All England Club gates alongside wife Jordyn Blum. Last year, the rock star admitted to fathering a love-child with another woman as he was accused of having 'a 15-year affair with a porn goddess'. But he and wife Jordyn were all smiles as they made their way to Centre Court for the day's action. And it was case of music greats past and present in attendance as play on the outside courts was delayed by the bad weather. Think ‘Untouched' shouldn't have been in the Hottest 100? You may just be out of touch
It's December 2014, somewhere in the days after Christmas. I'm 21 and in the passenger seat of a friend's old Daewoo, taking turns to drive it up to Byron for that year's Falls Festival. It's a stinking hot afternoon. The windows are down. We are approaching turn-offs for Forster and holding mild concerns about how our Korean chariot will handle the rest of the long trip. Its tiny back seat is packed to the brim — bags, tents, and another friend stuffed in among them. We should have left earlier, we say. Tired and sweaty, morale is sliding. Then, we hear the violins. When Untouched by The Veronicas ranked third in yesterday Hottest 100 Australian Songs Countdown, ahead of more obviously 'Aussie' classics like Beds are Burning, You're the Voice or Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again, it took some by surprise. But, as someone who has scream-sung every word — including the harmonies — to the 2007 song while driving up the highway to a music festival, the placing could not have made more sense. After reaching number two on the ARIA chart as the first single off their second album, Untouched has emerged as Brisbane-raised duo Jess and Lisa Origliasso's most enduring track. Loading The song is loved by the LGBTQ community, particularly as Jess identifies as queer. As Triple J has reported, the sisters introduced Untouched as 'the national gay anthem' to a crowd of expats at Los Angeles Pride in 2019. And, on any weekend across the country, Untouched will bring the girls to a wedding dance floor. Making it through the song's four minutes and 14 seconds is an endurance event: memory, stamina and diction are all required to keep singing the right – 'or wrong, or wrong or right' – repetitious words at 177 beats per minute.
