Epic Games offers 20% back in rewards, Eyes Fortnite's return to iOS in the US

In a move that could reshape in-game purchase dynamics,
Epic Games
has announced a major upgrade to its rewards program, offering players 20% back in Epic Rewards for all purchases made via Epic's own payment system. The offer applies across popular titles like Fortnite, Rocket League, and Fall Guys, and spans multiple platforms including PC, iOS, Android, and the web.
The timing of this update is significant, as Fortnite prepares for its long-awaited return to Apple's App Store in the United States.

While Epic's battles with Apple have played out in courtrooms for years, the latest turn appears to favor Epic - enough for the company to resubmit Fortnite for review by Apple.
A bigger slice for players, but not Apple
This revamped rewards initiative is designed to incentivize players to bypass third-party payment processors like Apple's in-app system. Players who opt to purchase V-Bucks or other in-game items through Epic's own portal will now receive 20% of their spend back in Epic Rewards, a sizable increase from the previous 5%.
These rewards can then be used for future purchases within Epic's ecosystem, including new games on the Epic Games Store. However, players won't earn any rewards if they complete transactions through Apple or other third-party payment systems.
The underlying message is clear: Epic is encouraging its user base to steer clear of Apple's payment platform, especially as it prepares to re-enter the iOS market in the US after being removed in 2020.
Epic's decision to boost its rewards offering coincides with a recent legal win, where a court ruled that Apple could not prohibit app developers from guiding users toward alternative payment options. While Apple largely won the broader case, this one provision has opened a strategic doorway for Epic.
To sweeten the deal further, Epic has also extended the 20% rewards to all purchases made via the Epic Games Store until August 31 - even for third-party titles. That means users eyeing popular titles from other developers can also benefit.
Whether or not Apple approves Fortnite's return, Epic's message is loud and clear: players should buy direct. For frequent Fortnite shoppers and loyal Epic Games fans, it's a welcome bonus. For Apple, it's another thorn in a long-standing rivalry.
With Fortnite's iOS relaunch likely just around the corner, Epic has fired yet another shot in the ongoing battle for digital storefront supremacy.

Eric Trump for US President? Donald Trump's son reveals his plans for White House
Eric Trump, the 41-year-old son of U.S. President Donald Trump, has indicated that he may one day pursue a bid for the nation's highest office, potentially paving the way for a second-generation Trump to enter the political fray. In an interview with the Financial Times , Eric Trump suggested that his personal experience over the past decade in the spotlight has prepared him for a possible political journey, though he expressed concern about the impact such a decision might have on his family. And by the way, I think other members of our family could do it too', as quoted in a report by USA Today. These remarks mark a rare moment of direct contemplation from Donald Trump's son about his own potential in politics. While often appearing at campaign events and rallies, Eric Trump has largely remained focused on business, steering clear of day-to-day political strategy, unlike his older brother. Live Events Businessman with Political Roots Eric Trump currently serves as co-executive vice-president of the Trump Organization, which recently entered the mobile communications sector. He manages the family's expansive real estate and branding empire alongside his brother Donald Trump Jr., who has himself expressed a tentative interest in running for public office. In May, the elder Trump sibling noted he 'maybe one day' could seek the presidency. Married to Lara Trump, the current co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC), Eric has remained influential behind the scenes in Republican circles. However, his public posture has been less politically charged than his brother's, who is frequently vocal on conservative platforms and active in rallying support for his father's ongoing political career. As early as the 1988 election cycle, grassroots efforts attempted to draft the New York businessman into the race, with Trump exploring campaigns under both Democratic and Reform Party labels. He officially entered and later withdrew from the 2000 presidential race before launching his successful 2016 bid as a Republican. Eric and Donald Jr.'s musings reflect a continuation of that legacy, one that has now been cemented by Donald Trump's return to the White House in 2025. The elder Trump's political brand remains dominant within the Republican Party, giving his family members a prominent platform from which to contemplate public office. Apple spends half a billion dollars on California real estate in a week — is Tim Cook planning something big?
Tech giant Apple Inc. has made headlines this week with a massive real estate buying spree in California's South Bay, spending over $517 million on commercial properties in Santa Clara County, underscoring its deepening roots in Silicon Valley. Major Sunnyvale Acquisition Caps Week of Aggressive Expansion In its latest move, Apple purchased a prominent two-building office campus in Sunnyvale for a staggering $350 million, county records filed on June 26 confirmed. Located at 615 and 625 North Mathilda Avenue, the 382,500-square-foot complex—known as Mathilda Commons —was previously leased by Apple from real estate heavyweight Jay Paul Co. This deal represents one of Santa Clara County's costliest office acquisitions in 2025 so far and exceeds the campus's most recent assessed value of $292.8 million by nearly 20%, signalling a significant vote of confidence in the area's commercial property market, as per a report by Silicon Valley. Cupertino Deal Adds to Weekly Spending Surge Just two days prior, Apple completed another major transaction, acquiring a three-building office campus at 10200 North Tantau Avenue in Cupertino for $166.9 million, also transitioning from tenant to owner. With both deals combined, Apple has secured five office buildings this week alone, taking its South Bay property purchases to over half a billion dollars in just seven days. Commenting on the acquisitions, Kristina Raspe, Apple's Vice President of Global Real Estate and Facilities, stated: 'The Santa Clara Valley has been home to Apple for more than 40 years, and we're proud to continue investing in world-class facilities for our teams here.' Live Events Mathilda Commons Could House Nearly 2,000 Employees The recently purchased Sunnyvale property, besides being one of the priciest in recent memory, could also become a vital operational hub. Experts estimate the campus has the capacity to accommodate between 1,500 and 1,900 employees, bolstering Apple's presence beyond its famed Apple Park headquarters. The move reflects Apple's long-term real estate strategy of converting leased spaces into owned assets, a trend that the Cupertino-based firm has followed consistently in recent years. A Pattern of Strategic Acquisitions Apple has been steadily expanding its footprint across Cupertino, Sunnyvale, and other parts of the South Bay by acquiring properties it already occupies. Notable past purchases include: A $450 million acquisition in 2021 of a five-building campus near North De Anza Boulevard and Mariani Avenue. A 10-building campus known as 'Apple Results Way' in 2023, with the transaction value kept confidential. A $70 million office building at 10200 North De Anza Blvd. in 2023, reportedly acquired at a 35% discount on market value. Interestingly, Apple also sold one of its South Bay holdings this year—a property in north San Jose, offloaded to Samsung for $27 million in February 2025. FAQs What did Apple purchase most recently in Silicon Valley? Apple purchased a two-building office campus known as Mathilda Commons at 615 and 625 North Mathilda Avenue in Sunnyvale for $350 million. How large is the Sunnyvale property Apple just bought? The Sunnyvale campus spans 382,500 square feet and has capacity for 1,500 to 1,900 employees.
