About 1,000 supporters travelled to the island for the inaugural festival last year, featuring Chester, Lancaster City and Radcliffe.Organisers have urged local fans to show their support for both the home side and the visiting clubs.Former Altrincham co-chairman Lawrence Looney was recently appointed to the Ravens board following his departure from the Greater Manchester club in May.The Ravens' first competitive match took place in July 2022, after the team's membership was suspended from the 2020-21 season due to the island's coronavirus border restrictions.Starting out in the First Division South, the team secured promotion to the league's Premier Division in its first season, where the club has remained since 2022-23.

England to host next three World Test Championship finals
England will stage the next three World Test Championship finals, the International Cricket Council has announced. All of the first three showpieces have been held in England, most recently last month with Lord's the venue as South Africa were crowned champions for the first time by defeating holders Australia. Nearly 110,000 people went through the gates of the so-called home of cricket over the course of a Test that lasted four days, although India were reportedly keen to stage the next edition in two years' time. The influence the country wields in global cricket affairs led to the assumption India would get their wish but England have instead been awarded the finals of the 2027, 2029 and 2031 editions by the ICC. At its annual conference in Singapore, the ICC noted England's "successful track record in hosting recent finals", even though Ben Stokes' side are yet to reach the one-off, winner-takes-all showdown. England finished fifth in the 2023-25 cycle although they were deducted 22 points - by far the most of the nine teams involved - for slow over-rates. Without those punishments, they would have placed third. England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) chief executive Richard Gould said: "We are absolutely delighted that England and Wales has been chosen to host the next three ICC World Test Championship finals. "It's a testament to the passion that fans in this country have for this treasured format of the game and the willingness of supporters from around the world to travel here for these games. "Hosting these finals is a privilege, and we look forward to working with the ICC to build on the success of the previous editions." Also on the agenda for the ICC in southeast Asia was an update on the support for the displaced women's cricketers of Afghanistan, many of whom were forced into exile when the Taliban returned to power in 2021 and effectively outlawed female sport. Amid increasing political pressure for the global game to act, the ICC formed a task force in April also involving the ECB, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Cricket Australia (CA). The ICC confirmed the programme "aims to deliver structured support through high-performance initiatives, domestic playing opportunities, and engagement at key ICC global events". It is understood Afghanistan women's cricketers, many of whom are now living in Australia, could attend this year's 50-over World Cup in India and the 2026 T20 World Cup in England and engage with the teams there, although details are still to be ironed out.

Ex-New York Giants player retires from the NFL four years after being drafted
Defensive end Elerson Smith has announced his retirement from the NFL four years after being drafted by the Giants. Smith, a fourth-round pick by New York in 2021, began his career with Big Blue as he appeared in 13 games for the franchise over two seasons. He was waived by the team in July 2023 before spending time with the Jets and Raiders, though he didn't play in the regular season for either of them. The former Northern Iowa player was a practice squad player for the Jets in 2023 before moving to the Raiders in the same capacity and playing for them in the following preseason. He was released by Las Vegas last August before being scooped up by the Browns and playing two games for the team last year. And despite signing a fresh one-year, $1million deal with the Browns in January (per Spotrac), he announced on Sunday that he was hanging up his cleats ahead of training camp beginning this week. 'What this game has given to me cannot be measured. So many of the best relationships in my life are connected to this sport. It allowed me to be a part of so many great teams and organizations,' he wrote on Instagram. 'It's put me in rooms with some of the most dedicated individuals I've ever met. It gave me space to push the limits of what I thought I was capable of. Though I never reached all of my goals, I am happy walking away from the game. The chase of greatness was intoxicating. It will be truly missed.' Smith went on to say that he was 'fortunate enough to have played this game as long as I wanted.' 'That would not have been possible without the work my family, teammates, and coaches put into helping me achieve my dreams,' he concluded. In 15 career regular season games, Smith totaled 13 combined tackles and one forced fumble. He finished his career with $2.348million in earnings.
