Slovakia continues evacuations from Middle East
Prague, June 18 (UNI) Slovakia is evacuating more citizens and foreign nationals from the crisis-hit region in the Middle East, the Slovak Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs said on Tuesday.
A special government aircraft that departed from Larnaca, Cyprus, will bring another group of Slovak and foreign nationals to Bratislava on Tuesday evening, the ministry said in a statement.
The evacuees were first transported from the Jordanian cities of Aqaba and Amman to Cyprus, according to the ministry. The group includes 18 Slovak citizens, 13 Hungarians, eight Austrians, and three Czechs.
This is the second evacuation flight that Slovakia has organised this week to repatriate its citizens and assist nationals of other countries.
On Monday, a Slovak government plane brought back 73 evacuees from the Middle East, including 30 Slovak citizens along with individuals from countries like the Czech Republic, Poland, and Austria.

Uttam Reddy slams BRS over irrigation project neglect, announces major restoration measures
Hyderabad, June 28 (UNI) Telangana Irrigation Minister Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Saturday strongly condemned what he termed as false propaganda by BRS leaders regarding the condition of old irrigation projects like Jurala and Manjeera. He blamed the current issues on the decade-long negligence by the previous BRS regime, which failed to carry out even basic maintenance. Highlighting the Congress government's commitment, he said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had sanctioned Rs 100 crore for an alternative bridge to safeguard the Jurala dam from heavy vehicular load, and that there was no real threat to the structure. He dismissed concerns over stroke gates and ropes as baseless and politically motivated. Reddy announced Rs 300 crore for a second gantry crane at Jurala, systematic desiltation, and additional works at Rayalampadu and Mallammakunta reservoirs. The Nettampadu project, pending since BRS rule, has now been cleared with revised estimates of Rs 2,753 crore and is targeted for completion by December. He further accused the previous government of focusing on high-cost projects like Kaleshwaram for commissions while ignoring existing assets. Inspections at Jurala revealed no major safety concerns, and maintenance work is ongoing to ensure readiness before peak monsoon. People desperate to oust Nitish Kumar govt: Prashant
Patna, June 28 (UNI) Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor today said people of Bihar are desperate to oust Nitish Kumar government from power in next state assembly elections slated for October-November this year. Addressing a rally during his "Badlao Yatra" in Nalanda, the home district of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, he said that people were fed up with the present dispensation in the state due to rising unemployment, poor law and order. In the name of giving jobs to youths, Kumar was distributing appointment letters among them when election was round the corner, he claimed and said that by his action in last few months of his tenure, Chief Minister Kumar was trying to create an impression of " all is well ". "In last 35 years, Bihar remained at bottom of all development parameters due to failures of Lalu and Nitish regime in the state," Jan Suraaj leader recalled and said that it was time for people to exercise their franchise to oust Nitish Kumar government from power in next state assembly elections due to be held in October-November this year. Despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public appeal during his frequent visits to Bihar in election year, people should not vote for Chief Minister Kumar, he suggested. Kishor said that huge support from people of Bihar in Lok Sabha elections since 2014, enabled Modi to become PM in last 11 years. Despite getting such a vital support from Bihar, Modi was setting up industries in Gujarat, he alleged. The Jan Suraaj leader said that youths of Bihar had no option but to migrate to other states in search of their livelihood and they were doing petty jobs there, even as labourers. Had people of Bihar extended their support to Modi for creating a situation for their children to work as labourers in other states, he asked. There was jungle raj during RJD regime and criminals were striking at their will during that period, he recalled and added that RJD was trying to refurbish its image but the party would not succeed.
