AYODHYA
: CM Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said that Ayodhya has transitioned into a global symbol of 'Atithi Devo Bhava'. "It was a city where once Ram devotees faced bullets but today they are being welcomed with flowers," he said at a public event in Ram Katha Park.
Highlighting the significance of Pran Pratishtha ceremony held in Ayodhya on Thursday, chief minister Yogi Adityanath said the grand temple of Ram Lalla is a powerful testament to the enduring strength of Sanatan Dharma.
"After a wait of 500 years, the Pran Pratishtha of Shri Ram Lalla was performed with great devotion by PM Modi on Jan 22, 2024. Today, the consecration of the divine idols in the Ram Darbar and
Ram Mandir
has also been accomplished," he said.
'Blessings of revered seers guiding New India'
Mentioning Ayodhya's spiritual and cultural resurgence over the past 10 years, Yogi said it was under PM Modi's leadership that the vision of Viksit Bharat, rooted in Sanatan Dharma, was becoming a reality, with Ayodhya reclaiming the divine aura of the Treta Yuga.
The CM also attended the 87th birthday celebrations of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust president Mahant Nritya Gopal Das at Mani Ram Das Cantonment.
The occasion also coincided with Yogi's birthday on Thursday.
Calling it a privilege to be part of the celebrations, the CM said it was the divine spiritual practices and blessings of revered seers that were guiding the transformative journey of New India. He also highlighted the legacy of the Mani Ram Das Cantonment, saying that it boasted over 300 years of intense spiritual practice.
'From the 18th to the 21st century, this sacred site has been a centre of unwavering devotion.
Legend says that Mata Janaki once appeared in a divine vision to a saint of this tradition, blessing and strengthening its spiritual lineage," he said, crediting Mahant Nritya Gopal Das' leadership for the success of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.
Mentioning the redevelopment of pilgrimage centres like Kashi Vishwanath, Mahakaal, Kedarpuri, and Somnath, Yogi said these temples served as the spiritual pillars of a new, empowered India, which was emerging from the roots of Sanatan traditions.
Describing the changes being implemented in Ayodhya, Yogi highlighted the efforts to develop it as the country's first solar city. "The once stagnant waters at Ram Ki Paidi now flow clean and pure, capable of accommodating over 5 lakh devotees for a holy dip.
A new stretch of ghats, from Naya Ghat to Guptar Ghat, has been developed to enhance the pilgrim experience," the CM said.
Highlighting the significance of Ganga Dussehra and World Environment Day celebrated on Thursday, the CM said it had deep spiritual and environmental significance.
"It is on this auspicious day, through the penance of Maharaj Bhagirath, that the river Ganga descended to Earth. Ma Ganga is a symbol of devotion and liberation, she is the lifeline of our spiritual heritage," he said.
Among other projects to develop Ayodhya as a global spiritual and cultural hub, the CM highlighted an international airport in the name of Maharishi Valmiki, a community kitchen named after Mata Shabari, a pilgrim guest house named in honour of Nishadraj, and temples dedicated to Maharishi Vashishtha, Vishwamitra, and Tulsidas.
Referring to the installation of a statue of the Vulture King Jatayu in the temple complex, the CM said that vultures were a species critical to ecological balance but were facing extinction due to food scarcity and environmental degradation. "They serve a vital role in nature and are beneficial to humanity. Jatayu, who valiantly fought Ravan during the abduction of Mata Sita, is a symbol of ultimate sacrifice and courage.
That is why his magnificent statue now stands at the Ram Janmabhoomi," he said.

Urban local bodies should function like Parliament to resolve civic issues: Om Birla

Gurugram, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Thursday said urban local bodies should function on the lines of Parliament with regular Question Hour and Zero Hour to raise issues concerning citizens. Urban local bodies should function like Parliament to resolve civic issues: Om Birla He was addressing the first National Level Conference of Urban Local Bodies in States and Union Territories. "I am pained to hear about meetings of ULBs getting adjourned amid pandemonium and key agenda such as budget getting approved without any discussion," Birla said. ULBs should also function on the lines of the Lok Sabha and state assemblies and find solutions to civic issues through regular debate and discussion in Question Hour and Zero Hour, he said. Birla also said parliamentary proceedings, which were drowned in ruckus in the earlier Lok Sabhas, were witnessing fewer disruptions in the current Lok Sabha due to the efforts of leaders of all political parties. "Changes were witnessed in the 18th Lok Sabha, when political parties agreed to allow the House to function to raise issues of the people," he said. He said ULBs should also adopt a similar approach as public representatives in such bodies are the closest to people and understand their issues better. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan and other dignitaries were present at the inaugural session. During the National Level Conference of Chairpersons of Urban Local Bodies in the States and Union Territories, delegates from across India will deliberate on critical subjects such as developing model practices and procedure code of conduct of General Council Meetings of ULBs, making municipal governance more effective in fulfilling the constitutional mandate. The conference will also deliberate on the subject of the contribution of ULBs in helping achieve the goal of 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047, their role in grooming women for leadership positions in society and polity, and improving public delivery and the quality of lives of citizens. UP Cabinet approves formation of Rozgar Mission

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Cabinet on Wednesday approved a proposal to constitute the UP Rozgar Mission to help find employment for the state's youths in India or abroad. UP Cabinet approves formation of Rozgar Mission The decision was taken at the cabinet meeting chaired by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. State Labour and Employment Minister Anil Rajbhar told reporters after the meeting that the mission would enable the state to bypass third-party recruitment agencies. "With the formation of this mission, we have set a clear target. We aim to send 25,000 to 30,000 unemployed youth abroad and provide employment to nearly one lakh youth within India's private sector in a year," Rajbhar said. Earlier, Rajbhar said, the state government had to rely on external institutions with RA to send workers abroad. "Now, with the mission in place, the state will obtain its own RA, enabling us to directly arrange overseas placements, particularly in high-demand sectors such as nursing, paramedical, skilled labour, driving, domestic work, and other manpower-intensive roles," he said. Rajbhar said the demand for the mission was made imperative by a rising global demand for Indian manpower. The cabinet Thursday also approved amendments to labour regulations to increase women's participation in factory work. Until recently, women were barred from working in 29 categories of hazardous industries. The government lifted restrictions from four such industries in December last year. "At present, only 5 per cent of factories in the state employ women, and excluding Noida, the figure drops to about 1 per cent. With advancements in technology and our goal of women's empowerment, it was necessary to revise these outdated norms," Rajbhar said. The minister said the changes will support the state's broader target of becoming a 1 trillion dollar economy. He called the day's decisions a "big step" towards economic transformation and social empowerment in Uttar Pradesh. Akhilesh Yadav alleges conspiracy behind govt school mergers, targets BJP

In a post on X, Yadav claimed that the BJP is systematically undermining the education system to deprive future generations of their fundamental right to education Press Trust of India Lucknow Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government, alleging a deep-rooted conspiracy behind the recent move to merge government schools in rural areas. In a post on X in Hindi, Yadav claimed that the BJP is systematically undermining the education system to deprive future generations of their fundamental right to education. "Education is the truest measure of development. The continued neglect of education and educators under the BJP government raises serious concerns that this is part of a larger conspiracy," he said. He alleged that the BJP wants to keep the coming generations uneducated because educated individuals are likely to be more positive, tolerant, and resistant to the kind of "negative politics" of the BJP. "Education brings awareness, and with it comes the courage to stand united against exploitation and oppression. The self-confidence gained through education poses a threat to authoritarian parties like the BJP," he said, adding, "If there are no schools, there will be no opposition to the BJP." The former chief minister expressed fears that closing government schools in villages could pave the way for BJP-affiliated organisations to open their institutions "under the garb of service," where they could allegedly propagate "divisive ideologies." Yadav further accused the ruling party of fostering a crowd of "uneducated, superstitious, and unscientific minds" that could be easily manipulated. "A truly educated and socially conscious person can never support an ideology like that of the BJP," he said. Highlighting the symbolic importance of having schools within sight, he said, "It is well known that what disappears from sight disappears from the mind. If schools are no longer visible in villages, the very inspiration for education will vanish." Questioning the government's priorities, Yadav argued, "If a polling booth can be set up for a single voter, why can't a school be run for 30 children?" Calling it a part of a broader "conspiracy to further marginalise the already deprived PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) communities," Yadav urged for resistance against the move and demanded the protection and expansion of government-run schools across Uttar Pradesh. According to sources, the Yogi-Adityanath-led government decided to merge schools to rationalise educational resources and address issues such as low enrolment, teacher shortage, and duplication of infrastructure. The move, officials claim, aims to consolidate small and under-enrolled schools and merge them with nearby institutions. There are about 1.40 lakh primary and upper primary government schools in the state, out of which 29,000 have 50 or fewer students, an official said, adding that around 89,000 teachers are posted in these schools. Yadav also posted a news story from Kannauj, which alleges 38 schools in the districts are facing fear of merger.
