Love is too costly for Gen Z? Teens are spending less on dating, claims survey, reveals reason
adults in the U.S. - those currently in their teens and 20s - are becoming more frugal about what they spend on dates as they contend with higher living costs, a Bank of America survey showed on Wednesday. More than 50 per cent of respondents spent no money at all on dating, according to a poll of more than 900 people between the ages of 18 to 28. Among those who did spend money on dates, 25 per cent of men and 30 per cent of women spent less than $100 a month, the survey showed.
The respondents also said it was important for romantic partners to be financially responsible. "Gen Z is finding adulting to come with a higher price tag, and they're feeling the cost of living overall," said Holly O'Neill, president of consumer, retail and preferred banking at BofA.

"They're dining out less, they're shopping at more affordable grocery stores, and they're using and setting budgets", Holly O'Neill said.
More than half the survey respondents said they were putting more money into savings, while 24 per cent were paying down debt as a way to improve their finances.
Rising prices across an array of goods from coffee to audio equipment to home furnishings pushed inflation higher in June in what economists see as evidence that the Trump administration's increased import tariffs are passing through to consumers.
Live Events
More than half of the respondents said they did not feel they made enough money to live the life they want, and 55 per cent did not have sufficient emergency savings to cover three months of expenses.
However, the percentage of Gen Z respondents receiving financial support from parents and family fell to 39 per cent from 46 per cent a year ago, the BofA report showed. They are also receiving smaller amounts, with 22 per cent receiving $1,000 or more per month, versus 32 per cent a year ago. More than half of the respondents receive less than $500 a month, versus 44 per cent a year ago.
"They're challenging some of the stereotypes of young people and money," O'Neill said. 'Even though they're facing economic barriers and high everyday costs, they are working hard to become financially independent," O'Neill stated.

Techie feels the best companies are dictatorships. Netizens react: ‘Dude has no idea…'
A tech professional who transitioned into entrepreneurship unexpectedly became the subject of online mockery after a controversial LinkedIn post of his went viral. The post, which quickly made its way to the popular subreddit LinkedIn Lunatics, attracted widespread ridicule for its glorification of authoritarian leadership styles. The entrepreneur, Nikunj K , appeared to equate successful leadership with rigid control, using a dramatic workplace anecdote to support his claims. In his now-infamous post, Nikunj recounted an incident from a product review meeting. His team had painstakingly prepared a detailed Product Requirements Document (PRD) over several weeks. But when the company's founder entered the room, he barely glanced at the document. Without engaging in any real discussion, the founder walked to the whiteboard, sketched out three rectangles, connected them with arrows, and then left the room as abruptly as he had entered. The moment left the team confused and demoralized. Despite the effort invested in the PRD, it was cast aside in favor of a spontaneous idea. This situation, instead of frustrating him, became an epiphany. He concluded that truly successful companies don't operate as democratic entities. Instead, he believed they thrive under top-down, uncompromising leadership—a structure resembling an autocracy rather than a cooperative. Nikunj used this story to draw a broader lesson: in his view, great organizations aren't built through consensus but by enforcing singular visions. He compared such leaders to legendary figures like Brian Chesky and Jensen Huang—individuals known for their bold goals and exacting standards. According to Nikunj, many professionals hope to be part of revolutionary companies but also want workplace comfort, flexible hours, and freedom from pressure. However, he argued, these expectations are contradictory. Visionary leaders often demand sacrifice and discipline, not leniency. To him, employees must make a choice: either align themselves with demanding founders who resonate with their own ambition or take the plunge into entrepreneurship and create their own version of a company-led empire. However, not everyone received his message positively. Reddit users were quick to respond with criticism and satire. One person remarked that what Nikunj called 'dictatorship' was more accurately described as 'leadership' or 'decisiveness,' while another mocked the overly dramatic tone of the post, likening it to fiction where the narrator casts themselves as a dictator rather than an inspiring leader. Another critic pointed out that Nikunj seemed to misunderstand the actual implications of a dictatorship. "Dude has no idea what dictatorship actually means lol," said another. In the end, what Nikunj may have intended as a bold commentary on leadership was interpreted by many as a glorification of authoritarianism—and the internet was not kind in its response.

CTI urges Delhi govt to host shopping festivals on lines of Dubai, China
The Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) has urged the Delhi government to organise large-scale shopping festivals and business fairs similar to those held in Dubai and China to boost trade and tourism in the national capital. In a meeting with Tourism and Culture Minister Kapil Mishra at the Delhi Secretariat, CTI suggested that after the success of the Teej festival, similar events could be held around Diwali and other major festivals, according to a statement. CTI Chairman Brijesh Goyal said these festivals would not only promote local trade but also create employment and generate revenue for the government. He added that shopping festivals could be held under the banner of popular markets such as Chandni Chowk, with participation from local traders. Live Events The minister welcomed the idea and asked CTI to submit a detailed proposal and roadmap outlining which festival could feature which type of fair. Goyal pointed out that such events offer opportunities to small-scale sellers and entrepreneurs who do not have shops or cannot afford high-rent showrooms. These vendors can be provided stalls at subsidised rates to showcase and sell their products. The minister also distributed certificates to social media influencers who promoted the Teej festival, it added.
