German utility RWE and tech giant Amazon announce partnership
RWE
and tech giant
Amazon
announced a strategic framework agreement on Thursday, where the utility will provide clean power delivery and in exchange receive cloud services.
The cloud services cover artificial intelligence and data analytics in exchange for electricity supplied from RWE's wind and solar facilities, some of which are already in operation and some are under construction.

RWE is a major utility in Europe with a large portfolio of
renewable energy
both in operation and in development which it can then sell to Amazon or other data centre hyperscalers to help companies reach green energy targets.
The partnership announcement is a start, with ties expected to develop and deepen between the two companies, RWE said.

"Advancing digitalization and electrification are also driving up demand for electricity," Chief Commercial Officer of RWE Supply & Trading, Ulf Kerstin, said.
"Our competitive portfolio of renewable and flexible energy generation is ideally suited to meet this demand," he added.
By the numbers
Amazon has contracted around 1.1 gigawatts of renewable energy across seven power purchase agreements with RWE in the United States, the statement said.
RWE's Supply & Trading division has also migrated mission-critical applications to AWS cloud services, including their
Energy Trading
and Risk Management platform enabling 30% performance improvements with end-of-day runtimes, it said.
What's next?
Going forward Amazon will support RWE's continued innovation in trading, commercial asset optimization including renewables, and energy AI applications, the announcement said.
The collaboration will deepen ties to RWE's AI Research Laboratory in Seattle to accelerate the development of advanced AI forecasting models through large computational power and cloud elasticity, it said.

The exam covered 37 subjects, including 13 languages, 23 domain-specific subjects, and one general aptitude test. This marked a significant change from the previous year when students had more flexibility in selecting papers. In CUET UG 2025, candidates were limited to choosing a maximum of five papers, regardless of their Class 12 subject combinations. Exam format revised and cities reduced This year also saw changes in the examination pattern and logistics. All papers were conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode, with 50 mandatory questions in each paper. The number of exam centres was also reduced from 354 cities last year to 285 cities across India. These adjustments aimed to improve operational efficiency and reduce logistical challenges faced during the examination. Delayed subject papers included in results The final CUET UG 2025 results will include the accountancy/book keeping paper and the Tamil and Urdu language papers, which were initially postponed and later rescheduled by NTA. This ensures that no student is left behind due to administrative delays and that all subject scores are considered in the final rankings. Limited use of CUET scores in certain institutions While CUET UG is being adopted widely, a few institutions continue to use alternative admission methods. Political Science, BBA, and BSc Mathematics at JMI still rely on other entrance examinations or Class 12 results for admission. BMW India posts 10% sales growth with 7,774 units in H1 2025
German luxury automaker BMW Group recorded a 10 per cent year-on-year growth in sales in India, delivering 7,774 BMW and MINI cars during January–June 2025, up from 7,081 units in the same period last year. The group also retailed 2,569 motorcycles under the BMW Motorrad brand in the first half of the calendar year, reports PTI. Electric vehicles continued to be a strong growth driver, with BMW and MINI EV sales surging 234 per cent year-on-year to 1,322 units. EVs now contribute 18per cent to the group's total car sales in India. The BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase emerged as the top-selling electric model, followed by the flagship i7. Long wheelbase (LWB) models across sedans and SAVs (Sports Activity Vehicles) saw a remarkable 159 per cent growth and now contribute 47per cent to BMW Group India's overall car sales. Key LWB models include the BMW 3 Series, 5 Series, 7 Series, and iX1. 'Our long wheelbase luxury models continue to be in high demand,' said Vikram Pawah , President and CEO, BMW Group India, adding that strategic product positioning has helped the brand align closely with evolving customer preferences in the premium mobility segment.

Madhya Pradesh rolls out INR 239 crore laptop aid for over 94,000 high-scoring Class 12 students
BHOPAL: In a major push to promote digital learning and reward academic excellence, the Madhya Pradesh government will distribute laptops to 94,234 meritorious students under the "Pratibhashali Vidyarthi Protsahan Yojana" on Friday, July 4. The initiative, aimed at empowering students who have scored 75 per cent or more in the Class 12 board examinations conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE), involves a financial outlay of Rs 238.98 crore. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will preside over the state-level distribution ceremony in Bhopal. He wrote on his X handle: "I'm delighted that on 4th July, we will extend financial incentives of Rs 25,000 each to 94,234 students who have scored 75 percent or above in the Class 12 MP Board examinations." He further said "this reflects our commitment to nurturing a generation of empowered youth who will contribute to realizing the vision of a developed India under the leadership of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi". Under the scheme, each eligible student will receive Rs 25,000 directly to their bank account to purchase a laptop of their choice. The eligibility threshold for general category students is 75 per cent, while students from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes qualify with 65 per cent marks. The initiative aligns with the state's vision of building a digitally empowered generation and complements national efforts under the Digital India campaign .
