Lionesses announce first Wembley fixture since Euro 2025 triumph
England celebrated their Euro 2025 triumph with a memorable homecoming outside Buckingham Palace on Tuesday but Sarina Wiegman is already looking ahead to the start of England's World Cup qualifying campaign.
The Lionesses will play China at Wembley on Saturday 29 November, in their third match at the national stadium this year. England also played at Wembley for the wins over Spain and Portugal before the Euros.
England will arrange fixtures for the international window in October, while details of a second November game have also yet to be announced.
England played China during the group stages of the 2023 World Cup, winning 6-1.
'After an incredible month and the celebrations this week, we are already planning ahead,' England manager Wiegman said. 'It will be special to have a final visit to Wembley this year and something for us all to look forward to once the new season starts.
'Even though we have just finished the Euro, our World Cup qualifiers are not too far away. There are not many opportunities for us to play non-European opposition in the calendar, so I am happy we have been able to secure a top Asian side like China for this Fifa window.
'I'm sure China will give us a very different game to what we experienced in Australia. Whenever we face a squad where most of the players are based away from Europe or the United States, it is a new challenge. And with the start of the qualification campaign soon approaching, this will be valuable experience with the 2027 World Cup in mind.'

Around Europe, the likes of Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen and Napoli have shown interest in the forward. However, it is understood that Garnacho would prefer to stay in the Premier League, with moves to Chelsea, Aston Villa and Tottenham on the cards. Garnacho sparked controversy this summer by posting a picture of himself wearing Rashford's No.9 Villa shirt after the England star spent the second half of last season on loan at the Midlands club. But his future at United really became precarious after their Europa League final defeat by Tottenham in May. Amorim told Garnacho to find a new club as a result of his reaction to being benched. The Argentine international said after full-time: 'Until we reached the final, I played every round. And I played 20 minutes today – I don't know. I'm going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens next.' Garnacho also stole headlines on United's post-season tour in June for all the wrong reasons. Lastly, Antony enjoyed a rejuvenated loan spell at Real Betis during the second half of last season, but the club did not activate his £35m buy option. That's what did for Barry Robson two years ago as his side fell off a cliff in the league. The question is has Jimmy Thelin recruited well enough to deal with it this time around? Monday will give us an indication of where Nicolas Milanovic, Kusini Yengi and Kjartan Mar Kjartansson fit in. All the indications are there will be more new faces to come. But they need time to settle, that's not something teams get a lot of when they are playing Thursday/Sunday/Thursday. Thelin has credit in the bank and rightly so. The Cup win was a remarkable achievement. But he needs to steady the ship and help them be more consistent. If he doesn't? I have a hunch ex-gaffer McInnes and his Jambos will leave them trailing.
