CMU-Q welcomes first students in the class of 2029 at Early Decision Dinner

Doha, Qatar – Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q) celebrated the first students admitted into the Class of 2029. The Early Decision dinner was an opportunity for 29 students and their parents to meet some of their professors and mark the beginning of their journey at CMU-Q.
This year saw a record number of applications for Early Decision, which is a category of admission for students whose first choice of colleges is CMU-Q. Early Decision applications are due November 1, and decisions are sent to students in December.
'Early Decision is a category for students who have already chosen their top pick of university,' said Michael Trick, dean of CMU-Q, who personally welcomed the students and their families at the dinner. 'We are delighted to welcome this notable group of students. This is the most competitive year ever for admission, and I am very excited to welcome the Class of 2029 this fall.'
The admitted students include 11 Qatari citizens. A total of 12 nationalities are represented among the new students. Decisions for the Regular Decision round will be sent to applicants on April 1.

The voluntary tender offer by Q Logistics Holding, a wholly-owned indirect subsidiary of Abu Dhabi's ADQ, to acquire 100 per cent of the issued and paid-up share capital of Aramex, has become unconditional from Tuesday, 22 nd July. Q Logistics Holding said that it has now received all required antitrust and foreign direct investment regulatory and statutory approvals, exemptions and waivers from relevant governmental authorities within and outside of the UAE. ADQ subsidiary completes Aramex acquisition deal All other conditions of the Offer Document have now been satisfied or waived in accordance with the requirements set out in the document, which was published on 10 th February. It is expected that payment of consideration to Aramex Shareholders and the registration of the Aramex Shares in the name of Q Logistics Holdings will take place on 25 July. Post 25 July, all Aramex shares will be registered in the name of Q Logistics Holding LLC. On 13 January this year, Q Logistics Holding had announced its intention to acquire up to 100 per cent of Aramex's issued and paid-up ordinary shares, not already held by Abu Dhabi Ports Company. On 9 February, Aramex received the SCA-approved offer document from Q Logistics. Its Board of Directors convened on 11 February, considered the offer to be fair from a financial perspective for its shareholders, and approved it for recommendation. Under the terms, shareholders of Aramex who accepted the offer were entitled to receive AED 3 in cash for each of their shares. Q Logistics Holding obtained acceptances representing 40.57 per cent of Aramex shares. Abu Dhabi Ports Company owns 22.69 per cent shares. The aggregate acceptances, together with the shareholding of AD Ports Group, amounted to 63.26 per cent of shares, which exceeded the minimum acceptance conditions for the offer.

Emirates boosts services to Dublin with a third daily flight

In a significant enhancement to its Irish operations, Emirates is set to operate a third daily service to Dublin this winter starting from 26 October 2025. The world's largest international airline will offer customers more travel choices to Dubai and beyond, as well as increased cargo capacity to/from Dublin. Emirates flight EK165 will depart Dubai at 02:10hrs and arrive in Dublin at 06:25hrs, local time. The return flight, EK166, will depart Dublin at 08:25hrs and arrive in Dubai at 20:00hrs local time. The additional flight will provide Irish travellers with an early morning departure option, complementing the existing afternoon and evening departures offered by the airline's double daily service to the country. The third daily flight will operate utilising a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft set in a three-class configuration, offering customers 8 private suites in First Class, 42 lie flat seats in Business Class and 304 spacious seats in Economy Class. The added service will also provide travellers with enhanced connectivity to popular destinations across Emirates' network including Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Bangkok. Last month, the airline officially introduced its newly retrofitted Boeing 777 on the Dubai to Dublin route, offering Irish passengers an upgraded experience with its four-class configuration, featuring its award-winning Premium Economy cabin and latest Business Class experience. The airline has also announced it will deploy its second refurbished Boeing 777 to Dublin starting from 16 October.
