Adair County: Cash and gun taken from an Adair home after Greenfield man was told to leave

Apr. 8—Devin K. Rains, 21, of Corning, was taken into custody 2:30 p.m., March 30, at Elk and 250th Street in Fontanelle on the charge of OWI, first offense.
According to an Adair County report, at approximately 1:24 p.m. a truck was reported in the ditch near the Adair Wildlife Management area on 250th Street.
Deputies located the 2000 Chevrolet S10 in the north ditch and made contact with the driver, identified as Rains. While speaking with Rains, the odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected. Rains also had bloodshot, watery eyes and restricted pupils.
Rains initially said he had not consumed any alcohol and he had been crying because he wrecked his stepfather's truck. Rains consented to field sobriety testing and showed clues of impairment. During the testing, Rains did admit to having one 24-ounce beer. A PBT showed his BrAC to be above .08%.
Rains was transported to the Adair County Jail where he consented to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing, the result of which indicated his BAC to be .117%.
Rains was cited and released on a promise to appear.

Wesley A. Gregg, 42, of Greenfield, was taken into custody 10:22 p.m. March 31, in Creston on an Adair County warrant for the charge of contempt — violation of no contact order.
According to a Greenfield Police report, at approximately 10:17 a.m. March 19, Gregg sent a message to a family member of a protected party in a no contact order against him. The message questioned if the protected party would talk to him. The family member of the protected party stated they believe the intent of the message was to have them reach out to the protected party of Gregg's behalf, which is a violation of the order due to third-party contact.
Gregg was transported to the Adair County Jail and held on $300 cash-only bond.
While in custody at the Adair County Jail, Gregg was served April 1 on an Adair County warrant for the charges of dominion or control of a firearm or offensive weapon by a felon, dominion or control of a firearm or offensive weapon by a domestic abuse offender and theft, fourth degree. An additional charge of theft, fifth degree was added in the case.
According to an Adair Police report, at approximately 2:30 p.m. March 29, a resident in the 600 block of Cass Street in Adair reported Gregg had taken a firearm and $80 cash without her knowledge or permission. The victim stated Gregg had been staying with her but was told to leave after she found drug paraphernalia in the residence belonging to Gregg.
Prior to leaving, Gregg took a 9 mm handgun from the victims bedside table and cash out of her purse. The victim did not know this had occurred until Gregg was gone.
Gregg is a convicted felon and has an active no contact/protective orders against him due to a domestic assault conviction.
Gregg was held on an additional $10,000 cash-only bond in this case.
While in custody in the Adair County Jail, Gregg was served April 2 on an Adair County warrant for the charge of violation of probation.
According to an Iowa Department of Correctional Services report, on Jan. 3 Gregg was convicted of domestic abuse assault — impeding air or blood flow causing bodily injury and sentenced to five years in prison. The sentence was suspended with two years probation.
Gregg was ordered to complete a domestic abuse program and have a substance abuse and mental health evaluation completed as conditions of his probation. As of April 1 Gregg had not enrolled in a program or provided proof of completion of the required evaluations. Gregg was scheduled for a probation meeting March 5 but called and requested to reschedule. He was rescheduled for March 10 and rescheduled a second time at his request for March 18 but claimed he was unable to find a ride to the appointments each time. Gregg also had new charges filed against him in Adair County.
An additional $5,000 cash or surety bond was placed on this charge.
In total, Gregg is being held in the Adair County Jail on $10,300 cash-only bonds and $5,000 cash or surety bond.

Joshua L. Kinzie, 45, of Creston, was taken into custody 12:50 a.m. April 4, in the 1700 block of 310th Street in Orient on the charge of OWI, first offense.
According to an Adair County report, at approximately 11:07 p.m. April 3 Adair County dispatch received an automated alert of an accident involving a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado. Deputies located the accident and made contact with the driver, identified as Kinzie, at the scene. The odor of an alcoholic beverage was immediately detected coming from Kenzie's person and his eyes were observed to be bloodshot.
Kinzie told deputies he a long day and had just left the bar when he believes he nodded off while driving, causing him to drift into the wrong lane of traffic. He admitted to having a few drinks while at the bar. After Kinzie was checked and cleared by medics, he consented to field sobriety testing which showed clues of impairment. Kinzie consented to a PBT, which showed his BrAC to be above .08%.
Kinzie was transported to the Adair County Jail where he consented to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing. The test result indicated his BAC to be .115%.
Kinzie was cited and released from the jail on a summons to appear. He was additionally cited for failure to maintain or use a safety belt and driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway.
