EastEnders confirms new romance in early iPlayer release as passion erupts
This article contains spoilers for tonight's episode of EastEnders, which airs on BBC One at 7.30pm or can be streamed now on iPlayer.
George Knight (Colin Salmon) has moved on from wife Elaine (Harriet Thorpe) – with an unlikely local.
The two separated earlier this year, when she believed he'd been unfaithful at Christmas with his ex-wife Sabrina. Son Junior (Micah Balfour) dropped the revelation out of the blue, with no real motive to expose his father other than wanting Elaine to know what he'd done.
She was enraged to hear that Sabrina had tried to kiss him, and George didn't exactly make things better when he turned to his other ex-wife, Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins), for a shoulder to cry on.
Elaine contacted old mate Drew Peacock (Paul Clayton) for a pep talk, and when he told her to take consideration of her own self-worth, she made the brutal decision to sleep with a stranger she'd just met moments before.
Guilt-ridden, she couldn't keep quiet any longer and confessed all to George. His attempts at making amends and apologising fell flat, as she wasn't willing to take half of the blame.
In the aftermath, his world has dropped apart.
He's lost his home and job at The Queen Vic after the boozer was sold to Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace), and he's had to move in with brother Kojo Asare (Dayo Koleosho).

George came dangerously close to discovering Harry's secret (Picture: BBC/Jack Barnes/Kieron McCarron)
Little does he realise, Kojo has become entwined in his housemate Harry Mitchell's (Elijah Holloway) drug dealing, after flushing a stash down the loo.
Harry has been forced into selling the narcotics for Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara), as the original lot belonged to him.
To make matters worse, Ravi and his associate Okie (Aayan Ibikunle Shoderu) have begun to use Kojo's flat as a base for their operations – and in today's instalment, which can be streamed now, George came dangerously close to finding out.
He'd announced his intention to leave the flat and move in with best mate Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), but by the time Harry showed up to prepare for Okie's arrival, George still hadn't vacated the property.
It didn't take long for Nicola to seduce him! (Picture: BBC/Jack Barnes/Kieron McCarron)

Thinking fast, Harry told him that his mum Nicola (Laura Doddington) was holding interviews for a new bar manager at her nightclub, and that he should head down and apply.
Upon arrival at Harry's Barn, he discovered that Nic' was actually searching for a bouncer, something which George wasn't interested in.
She knew that she had to buy time, and after offering him a drink and having a heart to heart about recent events, seduced him!
George couldn't resist her temptations, and it wasn't long before they were tearing one another's clothes off.
Is this the start of a new relationship?

Prince George's 'specific dietary request' sees Royal superyacht tender return to mainland
Young Prince George reportedly requested a 'specific dietary item' while sailing with his family between Greek islands Prince William and Kate Middleton's family holiday yachting in the idyllic Greek islands supposedly had an un-royal food request from Prince George. During the family's sailing holiday on a superyacht last month, the future king's eldest son reportedly had a specific dietary request from a particular restaurant on a Greek island. This very particular request was made as the royals left Kefalonia and were sailing south towards Zakynthos, before making a stop in the middle of the Ionian Sea. One of the tender boats was dispatched on a mission to pick up a meal possibly from a famous fast food restaurant for the young prince. It comes after Princess Charlotte sparks frenzy with behind-the-scenes photos from Lionesses' win. A member of the superyacht crew was reportedly dispatched out for a "specific dietary item" not available on the superyacht. A tight-lipped source revealed why one of the tender heads travelled back to the mainland, according to the MailOnline. They said: "George required a specific dietary item which led to the tender going ashore in Zakynthos to purchase it. Nothing extravagant, just something particular." This source did not reveal exactly what was picked up for the prince but Zakynthos is one of the few Greek islands to have a McDonald's on the mainland. The young royal could have ditched the luxury meals on the superyacht for a Big Mac or chicken nuggets and fries. While it is not clear what Prince George's specific request was, some of the royals have been known to enjoy some fast food favourites most people also dig into. Princess Diana was known to sometimes give Prince William and Prince Harry KFC and burgers when they were growing up. Some of Prince George's favourite meals have been revealed in the past, as celebrity chef Aldo Zilli let slip what the young royal's top dinner picks were after a chat with dad Prince William. Zilli shared: "[William's] amazing - I'm waiting for the call because apparently his little boy's favourite is spaghetti carbonara, so I'm waiting for the call to go and cook it for him." The chef added: "If George has my carbonara, he will never have another one, so I need to go and make it, let's get the ball rolling, send me to the palace to cook." It's not just spaghetti carbonara that tickles Prince George's taste buds, the Princess of Wales has said that he and Princess Charlotte enjoy making a 'cheesy pasta' together at home, reports the Express. In February 2019, Princess Kate, 42, visited a school in Enfield, north London, and spoke to Ivy Learning Trust's chief executive Matthew Kleiner-Mann. He said: "She was telling us how much her children love cooking and how they cook for her. "They made cheesy pasta the other day. One stirs the flour, one puts the milk and butter in. And they make salads and stuff."

Chris Hughes dropped from BBC hosting role in huge presenter shake-up
Chris Hughes first rose to fame appearing on Love Island but has since taken on an array of TV presenting duties and even competed on ITV2's reality hit Celebrity Big Brother Chris Hughes has been dropped from his BBC hosting role in a huge presenter shake-up, it has been reported. The former Love Island star previously took on the role of a presenter on the cricket competition the Hundred since it launched in 2021. However, it's thought that Chris will not be returning to the role this year. The Hundred is due to get underway on Tuesday with a derby between London Spirit and Oval Invincibles at Lord's. The BBC and Sky Sports both share the TV rights for the competition. It's believed that bosses are wanting to put more focus on the actual sport of the competition rather than using celebrities to market it as an entertainment show. The Sun reported that a spokesperson from the BBC said: "Chris has done a good job for four years, but we're going in a different direction. There will be more focus on the cricket this year, rather than promoting the Hundred as an entertainment show. "Former England cricketers Alex Hartley and Isa Guha and will lead the presenting team, as they know the sport inside out. Rick Edwards from Radio Five Live will be used in the Chris Hughes role." The Mirror have contacted Chris' reps and the BBC for comment. This is the second sports job that Chris has lost in the last few months. Back in April, it was revealed that he was leaving ITV Racing after six years with them. This was reportedly due to a dispute over pay. Chris' cricket presenting career wasn't all smooth sailing as in 2023 he was formally reprimanded by the BBC for making comments that were "not appropriate" after he told a female cricketer on air she was like "a little Barbie". All-rounder Mailan Brown, who plays for the Southern Brave team, was talking about how the team had watched the Barbie Movie in order to bond. She said: "We watched Barbie the other night all together and it was really good team bonding." Chris then responded by saying: "You're a little Barbie yourself, aren't you, with your blue eyes." Brown then laughed as Chris added: "She's blushing now." His comments then attracted criticism online and a BBC spokesperson said: "We have spoken to Chris and explained that his comment was not appropriate." Chris then returned to work for the BBC the following year. Chris first found fame when he appeared on Love Island. He struck up a spark at the time with Olivia Attwood but the pair didn't last. He has since gone on to appear on several reality shows, most recently Celebrity Big Brother. This is where he met his now-girlfriend JoJo Siwa after the duo got on like a house on fire during the series. The pair seemed to just be friends while on the show but as soon as the cameras were off them, they chose to take things to the next level and are now in a relationship.

BBC launches investigation into Strictly stars' ‘cocaine use'
The BBC has launched an investigation into alleged cocaine use by two of the stars of Strictly Come Dancing. Reports in The Sun allege their drug use was discussed on the BBC dancing show, and said that the corporation had appointed law firm Pinsent Masons to lead the investigation. According to reports, the allegations were made in a legal submission by law firm Russells in March on behalf of former contestant Wynne Evans, who was dropped by the BBC after apologising for using 'inappropriate language' during the launch of the Strictly tour. Others have also reported drug use on the show. A BBC spokesperson said: 'We have clear protocols and policies in place for dealing with any serious complaint raised with us. 'We would always encourage people to speak to us if they have concerns. It would not be appropriate for us to comment further.' it is understood that the BBC often appoints external law firms to help it lead investigations, while reporting back to an internal team. The cast members involved in the investigation were not named by The Sun. It comes after the BBC launched a review into Strictly in 2024 that looked into allegations of bullying and harassment against former professional dancer Giovanni Pernice, made by his former dance partner Amanda Abbington. The corporation upheld some, but not all, of the complaints made – and introduced a series of new measures aimed at improving welfare. This included the introduction of a chaperone who is present 'at all times' during training room rehearsals. EastEnders star James Borthwick was also suspended from the BBC after a video emerged of the actor using a disabled slur on the set of the dance programme.
