BA, BSc, BEd admissions begin online
The directorate of higher education (DHE) has begun the process of online admissions for the BA BEd (150 seats) and BSc BEd (50) programmes in the state for the academic year 2025-26.
The programmes are offered by
Vidya Prabodhini College
, Porvorim, and Harmal Panchakroshi Shikshan Mandal's Ganpat Parsekar College, Harmal.
The DHE has said that the last date to submit online applications is May 16.
Interested candidates must apply through the Samarth e-governance portal of the DHE website.
'The merit list preparation and counselling process will be conducted by the respective colleges,' DHE official Mahadev Gawas has said.
Applications without the GU-ART (conducted by Goa University) score will not be considered for admission, he said.
The DHE recently completed the first round of admissions to the first year of the general stream degree programme for colleges under the directorate's administrative purview.
Around 40 colleges across the state are participating in the admission process, offering more than 30 undergraduate programmes. Over 9,000 online applications were received.

Over 40k applications for 4.5k PG seats in GU & affiliated colleges
Guwahati: A rush for admission to Gauhati University (GU) and its affiliated colleges for postgraduate (PG) courses was witnessed this year, with the number of applications crossing the 40,000 mark. GU authorities on Saturday said this year, 15,000 students submitted 42,000 applications, a significant rise from last year's 28,000 applications, for admission in 50 subjects in PG. The total number of seats in PG courses, distributed in GU and its affiliated colleges, is around 4,500. While this trend is considered an encouraging sign for the premier public university of the state, it also exposes the dearth of an adequate number of seats in PG, with many of the qualified applicants being GU pass outs. Officials said this also highlights the need for students to prioritise other skill-based or professional courses that are available in Assam and under GU. However, the dearth of seats to accommodate the qualified graduates is a phenomenon witnessed across different universities in the country. More admission rounds to fill vacant GU seats
Panaji: The Goa University has announced an additional round of Goa University Admissions Ranking Test (GU-ART) to fill vacant seats left in 33 postgraduate programmes for the year 2025-26 after the first and second round. Round II of GU-ART will be held for four programmes of MA in psychology, MA in economics, masters of computer applications and MSc in data science. Round III of GU-ART will be held for 29 other programmes where seats are still vacant in GU and affiliated colleges. This include masters in public administration, international studies, Konkani, French, Portuguese, Sanskrit Studies, Marathi, sociology, social work, botany, biochemistry, AI, women's studies, among others. The last date to apply is July 15. 'The GU-ART Round II and Round III for the respective Programmes shall be held on July 18. The test shall be held in online mode. The results of GU-ART Round II and Round III of the respective programmes shall be displayed on the university website tentatively by July 22. Candidates answering the Round II GU-ART Rounds shall be ranked after the Round I and the candidates answering the Round III GU-ART Rounds shall be ranked after the Round II candidates,' the university notification states. The GU-ART is one paper of 100 marks, containing 50 objective multiple choice questions (MCQ) of 2 marks each. The duration of the test is 90 minutes.

Half of seats in MP colleges vacant after 3rd counselling
Indore: Despite three rounds of counselling, nearly half of the 6.5 lakh seats available across undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), and teacher education courses in Madhya Pradesh remain vacant. So far, over 3.4 lakh students secured admissions for the 2025–26 academic session, prompting the Department of Higher Education (DHE) to consider conducting another CLC round to maximise seat utilisation. Admissions for CLC round closed on Thursday for UG and NCTE courses. Of the total admissions, more than 2.4 lakh students enrolled in UG programmes, around 62,000 through the first College Level Counselling (CLC) round and over 1.8 lakh in the earlier phases of online counselling. Teacher education courses regulated by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) witnessed one of the highest response rates among all programmes, with over 50,000 admissions secured against 58,000 available seats. The high enrolment in NCTE courses highlights a continued demand among students to enter the teaching profession. Postgraduate admissions are also progressing, with more than 48,000 students already admitted. The registration window for the PG CLC round closed on Thursday, with over 25,000 fresh registrations recorded. DHE revised the PG admission schedule following directions from the high court. Applicants for subjects outside the major-minor format will receive interview notifications with details of date, time, and venue by July 14. Interviews will be held between July 16 and 17, with colleges entering the marks on the admission portal soon after. PG seat allotment will be released on July 21, and selected students must complete fee payment between July 21 and 25 to confirm their admission. "The CLC round concluded with encouraging numbers, and a substantial number of students also registered for PG programmes," said Dr Tulsiram Dahayat, officer on special duty, DHE. With nearly half the seats still vacant after three rounds of counselling, another round of admissions is likely to follow to ensure maximum seat utilisation.
