Christian Eriksen sees Rangers as a transfer 'draw' with 49ers ready to fulfil recruitment pledge
The Denmark international remains without a club after leaving Manchester United at the end of last season Rangers would be a "draw" for Christian Eriksen this summer as he the free agent weighs up his next move. The former Manchester United playmaker is on the lookout for a new club after leaving Old Trafford at the end of last season. Murmurs have lingered throughout the summer that the new owners at Ibrox, 49ers Enterprises, could make a move for the experienced Dane. However, cash-rich English Championship side Wrexham have reportedly made their move to make the 33-year-old the latest big name added by Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. But former Red Dragon's striker Matt Jensen has told Eriksen that a move to the Scottish Premiership would be the better move - if Russell Martin 's men can navigate the Champions League qualifiers. He told OLBG: " Rangers are a huge club and they've got Champions League football. So that's probably a bigger draw. "I think it would take an awful lot of money for Wrexham to sign Eriksen. I know they have a lot of money, but do they have that much? "If he wants English football he should go to Wrexham but it depends on personal circumstances and whether he's happy to move. If he is, I would say Rangers were a stronger option. "Even with Eriksen, I've got Wrexham down to struggle next season. There is a lot of quality in the Championship and it's a massive step up. "Every league is a step up, but League One to Championship in particular is a very big step. "It's always difficult when a player is reaching those golden age years and coming towards the end of his career. "Then you have the expectation levels, because he'll be nowhere near as good as he once was in his prime. Again if Wrexham are going to struggle next season, is that going to suit the type of player that Eriksen is?" A blockbuster deal could fulfil one of the US owners early promises to the shareholders - with a "surprise" said to be on the cards. Speaking at Rangers EGM, Paraag Marathe of 49ers Enterprises - who now own the Glasgow giants alongside pharmaceutical tycoon Andrew Cavenagh - promised shareholders that there would be names emerging that would raise the eyebrows of fans. He said: "If we share who we're targeting that players becomes more expensive. It's best for you all if we surprise you with the players we bring in!" England fan, 8, left Ian Wright in stitches with response to Alex Scott question
England will be looking to win a second straight Euros title when they face Spain in the final on Sunday, with one young Lioness fan guaranteed to be tuning in England supporters are buzzing with anticipation for Sunday's Euro 2025 final against Spain, hoping to replicate the joy of three years ago. BBC pundits Ian Wright and Alex Scott couldn't contain their laughter when young fan Tess stole the show during the previous tournament's closing stages. Tess was just eight years old when she became a viral hit with her jubilant dancing in the stands. The performance even earned her a personal shout-out and a present from her hero, Alessia Russo. Tess, who is now 11 and playing in the Doncaster Belles academy, was caught on camera grooving to 'Sweet Caroline' as the Lionesses demolished Sweden 4-0 at Bramall Lane during Euro 2022. Her infectious energy landed her on BBC Breakfast and live during the coverage of the semi-final between Germany and France. The enthusiastic supporter scored tickets to the final and even earned a pass into the BBC broadcast studio. There, she was joined by Wright, Scott, Arsenal boss Jonas Eidevall and host Gabby Logan, while commentator Jonathan Pearce was left in tears over the incident. Logan had a special treat for Tess as she asked her: "I know Russo's a big fan of yours, well you're a big fan of hers, she probably is a big fan of yours. Do you still think she could be the difference today?" Russo was still a Manchester United player but has since made the jump to Arsenal, where she won the Champions League this season. And Tess was full of confidence as she responded: "Yeah. I feel like she could do a lot of things to help our team." Logan went on: "Yeah she's been doing brilliantly, hasn't she? Actually, speaking of her, I've got a little message for you. Just have a little look over there will you." The broadcast then switched to a pre-recorded message from Russo, aimed at devoted fan Tess. The England striker said: "Hi, Tess, it's Alessia here. Just wanted to say a massive thank you for all your support this summer. "We've loved hearing you on the TV and on Twitter. So much so I'd like to give you this shirt just to say thank you. I hope you love it, and we hope to see you soon." Tess was stunned as Logan handed her a jersey featuring Russo's name and number. England icon Scott then questioned the passionate supporter about whether she'd be displaying her dance moves once more for England. "I'm a huge fan and I'm a huge fan of your dancing as well," said Scott to their in-studio guest. "Are we going to see more of that today?" Tess replied with gusto as she said: "Yes, definitely!" Her response left both Wright and Scott in fits of laughter. Before the game, Tess radiated optimism as she a: "I'ddedm feeling very positive, and I feel like we can win this match." When pressed for a forecast, she predicted Sarina Wiegman's side would triumph: "Well, I think 3-2, but at the same time I just hope we win it." The final score may not have been spot on, but Tess got her wish as England triumphed over Germany 2-1 in extra time. Chloe Kelly's decisive goal in the 110th minute clinched the first major title for England's women, and they're now setting their sights on retaining the title in Switzerland. Kelly was instrumental in keeping England's title dreams alive, netting another crucial extra-time goal to secure a 2-1 victory over Italy in the semi-finals. However, they'll be counting on the support of their fans once more if they're to overcome the current world champions, Spain, this Sunday. Major Ridvan Yilmaz transfer update as Man Utd legend ‘approves' swoop for Rangers star
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THE future of Ridvan Yilmaz at Rangers has been an uncertain one for some time. Now, talk of a return to Turkey for the left-back is gathering further pace. Injuries have hampered his three-year stint at Ibrox and he's been consistently linked with a move back to his homeland in recent times. That talk only intensified when the defender lost his shirt number to new signing Max Aarons, moving from number 3 to number 33 instead. He was subsequently left out of Russell Martin's squad for the Champions League qualifier against Panathinaikos last week. All signs are certainly pointing towards Ridvan not having a future at Ibrox. The defender has been heavily linked with a return to former club Besiktas all summer long. Now, that move could have taken a step closer. Turkish outlet Fanatik claim that the club's boss - Man Utd legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - has approved a move for Ridvan. The report says that Solskjaer is "of the opinion that Ridvan would contribute both physically and technically." It also says negotiations are underway. Rangers fans unfurl giant tifo ahead of Russell Martin's first match There have been various different claims regarding the make-up of a deal for Ridvan, ranging from permanent to loan. The latest Fanatik report says Besiktas are hoping to a deal for 2m Euros, which would be around £1.75m. Other Turkish reports claim Rangers are looking for another million on top of that. Should Ridvan head to Besiktas, he could be joined by a former Gers teammate. The same report claims the club have 'accelerated' a move for Vaclav Cerny. The Czech winger, 27, was a huge hit at Ibrox during his loan spell from Wolfsburg last season. Cerny said his goodbyes to the Light Blues at the end of last season and there hasn't been any hint of a return since. He could now be bound for Turkey, with the report saying 'significant progress' has been made regarding a move to Besiktas. It could be a loan deal with an option to buy. 4 Besiktas are managed by Man Utd hero Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Credit: Getty 4 Vaclav Cerny could be on his way to Besiktas too Credit: Willie Vass Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page
