Florida official under state investigation after hosting LGBTQ event
A protester makes a sign during a protest in San Francisco. Drag performances have because a flash point in culture wars, particularly in Florida where a local official is under investigation for possibly exposing children to a sexualized performance. File Photo by Terry Schmitt/UPI | License Photo July 22 (UPI) -- A small town elected official in Florida is under investigation by state Attorney General James Uthmeier for hosting a drag show that may have exposed children to a "sexualized performance." Uthmeier announced Tuesday he had subpoenaed Linda Moore, the vice mayor of Vero Beach, over a "Pride Tea Dance" held last month at the Kilted Mermaid, a wine bar she owns in the town on the Atlantic coast. However, it's unclear what charges Moore might face and questions remain concerning Uthmeier's legal basis for the investigation. Uthmeier's office cited evidence that the event was promoted as being open to all ages and included sexualized adult performers who "wore revealing attire and burlesque outfits while interacting with the children." "In Florida, we don't sacrifice the innocence of children for the perversions of some demented adults," Uthmeier said in a statement. The subpoena demands Moore turn over employee schedules, surveillance videos, contracts with performers, ticket sales records, the bar's age-verification protocols and other documents by Aug. 8. Moore told NBC News that the subpoena did not make sense to her because it did not accuse her of a crime. "We have the event every year; it's our gay pride event, and it is all ages," Moore told the news outlet, adding that the bar has hosted it for at least the past five years. "It's a family-friendly event, and then once the drag show actually starts, we tell the parents who have small children that they can't stay for the show." She said that the performances can be a "little racy" but do not include any nudity. Jennifer Pippin, a member of a local chapter of conservative parents group Moms for Liberty, called attention to the events at the Kilted Mermaid on social media. She alleged that Moore had violated Florida's "Protection of Children Act," which was signed into law by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in 2023. However, the law has been held up in court as federal judges have suggested it is likely unconstitutional.

LA junkie charged with killing ‘American Idol' boss Robin Kaye and her husband allegedly used couple's gun in double murder
The maniac accused of murdering 'American Idol' executive Robin Kaye and her husband Thomas Deluca used the couple's own gun to kill them — and then called police on himself, according to prosecutors. Raymond Boodarian, 22, allegedly broke into the couple's $4.5 million Encino mansion on July 10 and found their firearm as he rummaged about, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said during a public meeting at the neighborhood's community center Monday. When the couple, who are both 70, came home from grocery shopping and walked in on the burglary, Boodarian allegedly turned their own gun on them and fired. Advertisement 3 Robin Kaye and her husband Thomas Deluca, both 70, were shot to death at home on July 10. Facebook 'It was Robyn and Tom's gun,' Hochman said at the meeting, which was attended by more than 100 concerned residents, NBC News reported. 'It wasn't his gun. It was exceptionally tragic.' Boodarian then called police with his own cell phone after the killing and gave his name, which Hochman said ultimately led to police tracking him down and arresting him a day after the bodies were found. Advertisement 'Mr. Boodarian got caught because he used his cell phone to contact police concerning the situation, actually identified himself by name,' Hochman said. 'Police were able to ping the cell phone, find out where he lived, go to his residence and arrest him.' But it remains unclear when Boodarian made that call to police, or exactly what he said in it. 3 Raymond Boodarian, 22, was arrested at his home two days after the 70-year-old couple's bodies were found. TMZ Officers responded to Kaye and Deluca's home on the day of the killing after neighbors reported seeing somebody jump the fence. But nothing was apparently wrong as they looked into the property from the street, so they left. Advertisement It wasn't until four days later when they returned to the home for a welfare check that they found the bodies — with a trail of blood winding to the home's front door, and a back door smashed open. Inside, Kaye was found dead in the pantry and Deluca in a bathroom, according to PEOPLE. Boodarian was arrested the next day at his own home, located about 15 minutes away from the crime scene. 3 The $4.5 million mansion where Kaye and Deluca were murdered is 15 minutes from Boodarian's home. BACKGRID Advertisement And the arrest wasn't his first for violent behavior. He was arrested three times between November 2023 and June 2024 for allegations of battery and threatening family members with a knife. But all the charges were dropped over mental incompetency after he served just six months in custody, and he was turned loose. His neighbors also told The Post that he was a nuisance on their street, and that he regularly wandered about high on drugs and menacing residents. Encino locals expressed alarm that he'd been freed after such a record of arrests — especially since their neighborhood has been plagued by an uptick in crime in recent years. 'We're having phenomenal numbers on crime reduction,' LAPD Deputy Chief Marla Ciuffetelli said, according to ABC7 Los Angeles. 'That being said, when two wonderful people end up dead in their own home, those crime statistics fall kind of flat.'

Breakthroughs in Artificial Skin Regeneration
Regenerative artificial skin is a bioengineered material designed to mimic the structure and function of the natural skin, which promotes treatment in patients with severe lesions, burns or skin disorders. It often involves living cells, scaffolds and growth factors to support tissue regeneration and integration with the body. With the increasing demand for advanced wound care solutions, the market is growing for regenerative artificial skin due to increasing burn, chronic lesions and increasing incidence of surgical processes. Technological progress in tissue engineering, increasing awareness about regenerative medicine, and support government and healthcare investment ahead market expansion. Key Growth Drivers and Opportunities Increasing Demand for Advanced Wound Care Solutions: Increasing demand for advanced wound care solutions is a major driver of regenerative artificial skin market, as traditional treatment is often less in complex or chronic lesions. The regenerative artificial skin provides rapid treatment, low infection risk, and better cosmetic results, making it highly attractive to treat burns, ulcers and surgical lesions. As healthcare provider and patients want more effective, long-term treatment options, adopting innovative skin regeneration technologies, promotes market growth. Challenges The regenerative artificial skin market faces high production and treatment costs, which can restrict access, especially in lower and medium-or-income areas. Complex regulatory approval, limited availability of skilled professionals, and obstructing challenges in mass manufacturing more widely. Additionally, risks such as immune rejections, infections and variability in the patient's results can slow down the commercialization of clinical acceptance and advanced skin options. Innovation and Expansion Urgo Invested USD 107 Million in Artificial Skin Engineering Lab in France In January 2023, Urgo launched a USD 107M artificial skin engineering laboratory novel tissue engineering laboratory to create artificial skin to help the health care professionals in the effective treatment of severe wounds and quickly curing patients. Thus, the increasing research and increase in investments in introducing new products are expected to drive market growth in the forecast period. Inventive Sparks, Expanding Markets The key players operating the regenerative artificial skin market includes, Smith & Nephew, Integra Life Sciences Corporation, Johnson & Johnson Services, Inc., Mylan N.V. and Mallinckrodt plc.
