BBC pundit predicts Rangers fans could get ‘very, very angry' with Russell Martin's style – even if they're WINNING
The former Scotland international took over as Gers boss this summer and has been steadfast in his belief that he can turn the squad around and mount a challenge on Celtic.

Some supporters look at his Southampton team's failures in the Premier League and fear similar problems for the Light Blues in the Scottish Premiership.
Pat Nevin, the former Chelsea and Everton winger who's now a pundit, feels that even if Martin irons out those problems that the Ibrox faithful could become frustrated - because it might seem BORING.
Nevin told Compare.bet: 'Am I thinking Rangers are going to win the title? No, not yet. Because Celtic have got so many advantages over Rangers at the moment.
'But with Russell, what will be intriguing and the thing I'm most interested in is the style.
'Russell's played a certain style which is lovely as long as you're winning. And then you're not winning, fans get very, very, very angry about it.
'And Rangers fans will get angry very quickly if it's not winning.
'They'll get really angry with that system because it looks dull and it looks predictable. But it's very considered. We all know what it is. We've watched it. It didn't work in the Premier League but it did work before.
'But the expectation at Rangers is you don't keep on doing the process when you're 2-0 down to Falkirk.'
Nevin conceded that the uniqueness of the Glasgow means that Martin basically HAS to win the league this season - even though such expectations are unfair.
He said: 'Rangers have got to be winning the league. It is so unfair. Celtic have got so many advantages.
Rangers boss Russell Martin opens up on transfer plans as he delivers updates on Dessers and Igamane
'Celtic have been in the Champions League for so long. They've got so much more money behind them. They've got that base with the good managers that they've had with Brendan Rodgers and Ange Postecoglou before it. They have got so many more advantages.
'Rangers, they're a big club. They're obviously financially better off than any other club in Scotland apart from Celtic.
'But you're asking so much. They've come back from a long way down, we all know that. But for Russell, in my eyes, if you challenge for the title right up to the end, well done, you deserve another year, mate. Well done.
'Whether the Rangers fans will put up with that, I don't know. But in my eyes that should be good enough to let them build for a couple of years. That's what I think. But that's just not what it's like up here, I'm afraid. It's just not what it is.
'There has been an astonishing amount of change at Rangers. Not just the manager, but the moves out.
'Rangers fans' heads must have been spinning. Really, Leon Balogun and Tom Lawrence, Ianis Hagi and Vaclav Cerny all going. These are players that were playing all the time - gone.
'But they brought a whole bunch of players in as well. Lyall Cameron's come in as well, which is a very interesting one actually. Down south you go, really? Is he that all? Up here that can make a difference. That can make a big difference. So, it's interesting.'

‘We may be close to next step' – Alexander Isak's agent breaks silence on Newcastle star's future amid transfer interest

The much-loved Magpies star has garnered interest from Premier League rivals Liverpool, as well as Saudi Arabian outfit Al Hilal this summer, leading him to miss the 4-0 pre-season defeat to Celtic. Last week, Sun Sport exclusively reported the Magpies would not sell Isak, even if he wanted to talk to Liverpool about a British transfer record fee. Now, his agent has revealed 'all options' are being analysed this summer, and that an outcome may be finalised soon. Gonzalo Gaitan told Saudi Arabian newspaper Arriyadiyah: 'We are indeed studying and analysing all options, and we may be close to finalising the next step for the player. Liverpool's hopes of signing Isak were boosted after the Sweden international wasn't offered a new deal by his current club. The Premier League champions have hijacked Newcastle's swoop to bring in Hugo Ekitike from Frankfurt to partner him, too. Should Isak move to Anfield, his transfer fee would surpass the British transfer record, currently held by Florian Wirtz who signed for the Reds for £116million this summer. According to L'Equipe, the club have already started talks with the Swede's entourage who have agreed to listen to their proposition. Last week, Magpies boss Howe revealed he sent Isak home before their defeat to Celtic amid the speculation surrounding his striker. However, he said he remains 'confident' the Swede will stay at the club. 3 Isak has been a hit since signing from Real Sociedad He said: 'I chose to send him home. 'The last thing Alex wants if he is not playing is to be sat in the stand and under that scrutiny, then if he wasn't going to play today, we mutually agreed he shouldn't be here. 'It was my decision. He travelled back to Glasgow with us, but I decided to send him home due to the speculation around him. Both [Joelinton and Isak] are fit but not ready to play. Alex has trained and is fine but we didn't want to take the risk with him.' Howe added: 'I think it's difficult for me to ever give 100 per cent clarity on any player, I'd never do that. 'All I can say is Alex is happy at Newcastle, he loves the players, the staff, the team. 'I've never had any issue with him and I'm confident he's going to be here at the start of the season.' Isak has three years remaining on his current deal at St James' Park.

Rio Ferdinand hails Man Utd for 'not buckling and paying over the odds' for Bryan Mbeumo
Rio Ferdinand is convinced that Manchester United have stood their ground admirably regarding getting the right price for Bryan Mbeumo, as the Brentford forward looks set to join the Red Devils Rio Ferdinand is adamant Manchester United stood their ground and didn't 'buckle' when it came to the transfer of Bryan Mbeumo. The former United defender feels that the hierarchy at Old Trafford ultimately refused to budge on the number they had in mind for Mbeumo, and this is the reason why the transfer discussions went on for so long. The Cameroon international looks set to join the Red Devils after a bid worth up to £71million was accepted by Brentford over the weekend. United previously had two bids rejected by the Premier League side for the 25-year-old, which Ferdinand believes was the club playing the long game in order to get their man for the right price. Speaking on his YouTube channel Rio Presents, the 46-year-old said: "I think the Mbeumo deal, I think Man United in past years would have buckled and just given Brentford exactly what they wanted. "I think this one they didn't. I think they stood firm and said, 'Listen, we're not going to move. We've got other targets and we'll go to them, we're willing to wait but we're not going to budge on the number.'" Discussing United's transfer strategy of old, Ferdinand added: "I think before, the old regime would have buckled and just said, 'We'll give you what you want and paid over the odds,' like we have with numerous players over the years. "So I think yes, it did take longer than we thought or expected or anticipated, but it got done and I think it was nearer to the price that Man United wanted to pay rather than what Brentford were trying to ask for and demand. So in that sense I'd say that's good." The Premier League icon is one of very few who believes United's transfer plans for Mbeumo were the correct way to go, as the move took over six weeks to complete. This lengthy saga frustrated many supporters as the player snubbed interest from the likes of Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur to focus solely on a move to Manchester. Even Mbeumo's new team-mates were quick to comment on the time it took for him to join, as Leny Yoro offered an insight to the dressing room's reaction to the signing. Speaking after United's 0-0 draw against Leeds United in their pre-season friendly on Saturday, the French defender was full of praise for the club's next signing. "Bryan is a really good player, I am really happy he has come to the club," Yoro told United's Scandinavian Supporters' Club. "That is my guy. I am waiting for him now! That was long, that was long, but he is here now and I'm really happy!" Join our new MAN UTD WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Manchester United content from Mirror Football.
