'How can everyone not want him!'
Speaking to La Nacion, he said: "Everything is logical, I can't imagine any other scenario: Julian [Alvarez] is 25 years old, he's an extraordinary player, with hunger, with enthusiasm, with humility, with work, with goals, with hierarchy... How could everyone not want him?

"And Barcelona, PSG, Arsenal, Liverpool... the best have to want him. And for us, Atletico fans, it should be a source of pride that everyone wants him. Why? Because he's ours. And since he's ours, we have to take care of him. We have to help him feel happy. How will he be happy? By winning.
"And to get there, we all have to give 110%. And not just for him, of course, but for everyone."
If there was every a rallying cry to the fans, denouncing rival club's attempts to sign Alvarez, then that was it - a firm and direct reminder that he is a player Atletico are unwilling to sell this summer.
And in fairness, it makes a hell of a lot of sense. The Argentinian is approaching the prime of his career, he only made the move from Manchester City last season and he's made 36 goals and assists in 54 games of his maiden season in Spain - if they can help it, he's not going anywhere.

Atletico Madrid monitoring Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi

Atletico Madrid are exploring a move to sign Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi this summer, according to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio. Los Rojiblancos continue to scour the Italian transfer market, having recently secured an agreement for Atalanta defender Matteo Ruggeri. They are looking to replace Rodrigo Riquelme and Thomas Lemar. Rodrigo De Paul also faces an uncertain future at the Wanda Metropolitano. Atletico are on the verge of signing Real Betis' midfielder Johnny Cardoso and want to add Frattesi to their ranks. They tried to include Guiliano Simeone as part of the deal, but Inter reportedly rejected the offer. Atletico are eager to know about Frattesi's availability. He is contracted to Inter until 2028. The 25-year-old has failed to showcase his full potential at Inter due to his curbed game time. Despite falling down the pecking order, Frattesi delivered some excellent cameos last season, including his decisive goals against Bayern Munich and Barcelona in the Champions League. A heated exchange with former manager Simone Inzaghi after the final defeat against Paris Saint-Germain fuelled speculation about his future. While the arrival of new manager Cristian Chivu may have handed Frattesi fresh hope to revive his career, his future at the San Siro is still hanging in the balance. Napoli have also shown interest in the Azzurri international, who is currently sidelined with a muscular injury. Petar Sucic's arrival could also hinder Frattesi's opportunities. The Croatian midfielder was excellent at the Club World Cup and looks poised for a prominent role in the upcoming season. Frattesi's profile perfectly aligns with Simeone's coaching philosophy. His ability to thrive in counter-attacks, attack the box, eye for goal, and defensive work rate would benefit the Spanish giants. Atletico have reached an agreement for Villarreal winger Alex Baena and are in advanced talks to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero as part of a summer overhaul.

Atletico Madrid to sign defender David Hancko after Al-Nassr reportedly backs out

MADRID (AP) — Atletico Madrid has reached a deal to sign David Hancko after the defender reportedly was turned away by Al-Nassr when he arrived at the Saudi team's training camp. Atletico said Wednesday it has an agreement with Dutch club Feyenoord for the transfer of the Slovak player. The deal was pending a medical, and financial details were not disclosed. Spanish and Dutch media said Feyenoord had originally reached an agreement with Al-Nassr for Hancko's transfer, but the Saudi team — where Cristiano Ronaldo plays — reportedly backed away at the last minute. The defender had already arrived in Austria, where Al-Nassr was training, but was told there by Al-Nassr that the deal fell apart. Atletico, the third-place finisher in the Spanish league last season, has been boosting its squad in recent weeks. It signed 22-year-old right back Marc Pubill from Almeria, 24-year-old Argentina international Thiago Almada from Brazilian club Botafogo, midfielder Álex Baena from Villarreal and 22-year-old Italian left back Matteo Ruggeri from Atalanta. ___
