Metro In Dino Box Office Day 1: Anurag Basu Film Opens At Rs 3 Cr, Beats Life In A Metro By 300%
As per early estimates by Sacnilk, Metro In Dino first-day collection marks a 300% improvement over Basu's 2007 sleeper hit Life In A Metro.
Metro In Dino Box Office Collection Day 1: Anurag Basu's much-anticipated romantic drama Metro In Dino opened in theatres to a decent start, earning Rs 3.04 crore on Day 1 at the box office. As per early estimates by Sacnilk, the ensemble film's first-day collection marks a 300% improvement over Basu's 2007 sleeper hit Life In A Metro, which had opened at just Rs 80 lakh.
While Rs 3 crore may appear modest compared to blockbuster debuts, it's a solid opening for a romantic drama in today's theatrical landscape. The genre rarely sees high first-day numbers in India. The performance is particularly encouraging given the film's scale and its strong ensemble cast featuring Sara Ali Khan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Neena Gupta, Anupam Kher, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, and Ali Fazal.
The film is a spiritual successor to Life In A Metro and explores modern relationships across different cities through four interconnected love stories. Anurag Basu's signature storytelling style, combined with Pritam's soul-stirring music, has already received widespread acclaim. Konkona is the only actor from the original cast to return in this film.
Metro In Dino has been praised for its nuanced take on love and commitment. An excerpt from News18's review states, 'It's not every day that we get to see a Bollywood love story written with so much heart, maturity, intensity, intimacy and subtlety. Metro In Dino is a masterclass on modern-day love. It's for the lonely, for the ones who won in love and then lost some. It's as much Anurag's film as Pritam's. Zamaana Lage, Dil Ka Kya, and Mann Ye Mera stand out particularly. Rush to the cinemas now!"
The film's Day 1 success suggests it could enjoy positive word of mouth, similar to Life In A Metro, which went on to earn over Rs 24 crore domestically despite its slow start.

Kajol rejected this film that later went to Karisma Kapoor, Lolo won many awards, the film became blockbuster, movie is..., lead actor was... Kajol has been a leading actress for over 30 years now and her journey is truly considered remarkable. She first gained attention in the early 90s, and quickly became a renowned name with her captivating screen-presence and natural acting talent. With a series of blockbuster hits to her name, she is considered one of the most iconic Bollywood actresses. But do you know Kajol refused several movies that went on to become massive hits? One of them was with her all-time favourite co-star Shah Rukh Khan, with whom she makes a commendable on-screen paring with. Scroll down to know about the hit SRK film that Kajol said no to. Which film of Shah Rukh Khan did Kajol said no to? Released in 1997, the film we are talking about is Yash Chopra's musical romantic drama Dil Toh Pagal Hai. The film starred Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Karisma Kapoor, along with Akshay Kumar in a supporting role. The story revolved around the lives of members of a musical troupe, in which two dancers (Dixit and Kapoor) fall in love with their chorographer (Khan), getting entangled in a love triangle. Made in a budget of Rs 9 crore, the film earned Rs 12.04 crore overseas, and became the highest-grosser of the year. The film was highly praised for its direction, screenplay, soundtracks and energetic performances by the star-studded cast. Why Kajol rejected Dil Toh Pagal Hai? Interestingly, Karisma Kapoor's role was first offered to Kajol. However, the actress reportedly passed on the offer. During her appearance on Koffee With Karan S8 alongside Rani Mukerji, Kajol revealed that she said to Nisha's role, and it eventually landed in Karisma's destiny, for which she won a Filmfare and National Award for Best Supporting Actress. Recalling the time when she was offered Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Karisma shared on a reality television show, 'Every single heroine refused the film. The role came to me…it was a dance film and that too to work opposite Madhuri Dixit, they said 'How can we dance alongside Madhuri Dixit ji!' Initially, I too said no to it as it was a dance film and competition dance with Madhuri Dixit. I said, 'This isn't happening'. Then finally, Yash ji and Adi (Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra) narrated the story to me. My mother told me, 'You must take up the challenge. You are a big fan of Madhuri Dixit, you must do it. You work hard and you will shine.' Well, needless to say, Karisma Kapoor's portrayal of Nisha, and also her dance sequence with Madhuri Dixit is still considered one of her most cherished performances of all time.
