Officials were uncertain about the status of 10 to 12 workers who were present during Monday's blast but remain unaccounted for.
Trade unions alleged the actual number of missing could be higher, claiming several daily-wage workers were excluded from company records. "Since their names aren't on any record, no one knows what happened to them," said Athimela Manik, vice president of Centre of Indian Trade Unions in Sangareddy district.
"Most of them belong to Bihar, Bengal, and Odisha."
The company's senior management and govt officials insisted that clarity would emerge over the next couple of days as the rubble of the collapsed factory is cleared.
At the govt area hospital in Patancheru, doctors received a severed leg, hand, and other human remains recovered from the wreckage. "We are yet to verify if these remains belong to the deceased who have been identified or other victims who are yet to be identified," said hospital superintendent Srinivas Reddy.

"Efforts are on to locate the missing workers as rescue operations continue for those who may have been trapped in the rubble of the collapsed building," said Pritish Panda, officer on special duty with directorate of Odisha Parivaar, who was sent to the site by the Odisha govt.
The missing workers are Chaita Bhadra and Ramesh Gauda from Nabarangpur, Prasant Mohapatra from Ganjam, Purna Chandra Sahu from Cuttack, and another Siddharth Gouda whose native place is yet to be confirmed.
In Ganjam's Chhatrapur, the family of Rajnala received his body on Wednesday. "We found only his charred body when we rushed to the plant," said R Sai Yashwanth, the deceased's elder son.
Dolagobinda from Jajpur's Erabanka village had worked as a fitter at the unit for four years. "We managed to identify his mangled body and transported it back to our village via ambulance," said his father, Harihar Sahu, adding that the Telangana govet provided Rs 1 lakh as compensation.
"We want punishment for the chemical factory owner who is responsible for the death of 38 people, including my brother," said Sumit Sahu, Dolagobinda's elder brother.
Samir Padhy (24), a machine operator from Baharapur, is fighting for life with 35% burns in a Hyderabad hospital. His colleague, Papu Kumar Choudhury, recalled, "I had just left the area when the first explosion occurred. The entire area was plunged into darkness with smoke, trapping several workers inside."
The bodies of the deceased have been sent to their native places by ambulances.

‘Squinted version': Rahul Gandhi's lawyer on ED allegations in National Herald case
New Delhi: In the National Herald money laundering case, Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi told a Special Delhi Court on Saturday that the All India Congress Committee's attempts to revive the pre-Independence newspaper were misconstrued as a bid to sell its assets. Appearing before Special Judge Vishal Gogne, Senior advocate R.S. Cheema, representing the LoP, slammed the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) 'squinted version' which accused the AICC of looking for profit from the sale of the assets of Associated Journals Limited (AJL) – the company which owns the newspaper. Cheema said that the AICC never intended to sell the assets of AJL but aimed to revive the media outlet of the freedom struggle vintage. LoP Rahul Gandhi's lawyer also questioned why the ED had not presented before the court a Memorandum of Association (MoA) of AJL, which said that the policy of AJL will be the policy of the Congress. Highlighting the non-profit objectives of the company, Cheema said that the newspaper was never a commercial institution. The AICC just wanted to bring AJL back on the rails, he said. The ED alleged the Gandhis held a majority 76 per cent share in the private company Young Indian, which fraudulently usurped Rs 2,000 crore assets of the now-defunct newspaper by paying a nominal price of Rs 50 lakh. On Friday, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, representing Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, described the ED case against her as 'really strange' and 'unprecedented.' He questioned the allegations of money laundering, claiming that no tangible assets were involved. The ED on Thursday concluded its oral arguments before the Rouse Avenue Court as to why cognisance should be taken on a prosecution complaint filed against Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, LoP Rahul Gandhi, and other accused in the alleged National Herald money laundering case. After Additional Solicitor General (ASG) S.V. Raju, representing the ED, finished his oral submissions, Special Judge Vishal Gogne ordered the filing of submissions by the proposed accused, including the Gandhis, Congress Overseas Chief Sam Pitroda, and Suman Dubey. ASG Raju argued that Young Indian Ltd -- in which Sonia and LoP Rahul Gandhi are majority stakeholders – was used for usurping around Rs 2,000 crore assets of the now-defunct newspaper by paying a nominal price of Rs 50 lakh. Further, the ED claimed that the shareholding in Young Indian is just in name, and all the other accused are puppets of the Gandhi family. The controversy over its assets came into focus in 2012 when BJP leader Subramanian Swamy filed a complaint in a trial court, alleging that Congress leaders had engaged in cheating and breach of trust in the process of acquiring AJL. In the course of the investigation, the ED found that Young Indian, beneficially owned by the Gandhis, effectively took control of AJL's properties while undervaluing their market worth. In November 2023, the ED attached immovable properties valued at Rs 661 crore and AJL shares worth Rs 90.2 crore, terming them suspected proceeds of crime.

BTech graduate fakes own kidnapping to buy car, held
Ara: In a bizarre attempt to fund the purchase of a second-hand car, a 23-year-old BTech graduate faked his own kidnapping and sent a video of his supposed torture to his family, only to be arrested days later by Bhojpur police. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The man, Govind Kumar, had earlier worked in Pune. According to police, Govind, a resident of Sihuli village in Samastipur district, colluded with a friend to stage the fake abduction. In the video he sent to his wife and parents, Govind appeared half-naked, tied to a tree and bearing what looked like injury marks. He claimed that his captors would kill him unless a ransom of Rs 60,000 was paid. The footage, filmed in a forested area near Garhani, was created with the help of his accomplice. "Actually, Govind wanted to buy a second-hand car. To fulfil his dream, he resorted to hatching a conspiracy with one Rajnish Tiwari of Rohtas district for his own fake kidnapping," said SGO of Garhani police station Kamaljeet. "Govind had sent a video of his fake abduction to his wife and parents, demanding a ransom of Rs 60,000. His family even transferred Rs 10,000 to him initially. However, his mobile tower location helped the police in zeroing in on them near Garhani station. Eventually, both were arrested from Piro in Bhojpur and sent to jail on Friday." Police said the so-called abduction had been meticulously planned with Govind playing the role of the victim while Rajnish filmed the staged scene. The investigation, aided by forensic and technical surveillance, unraveled the ruse. Govind's uncle, Anil Kumar, told reporters, "On a previous occasion too, he had demanded and received Rs 50,000 on some pretext or other. Initially, he had been given a big amount of money for starting a business in the village, but the business failed. The sooner he mends his ways, the better it will be for his family."
