A.P. Police agree to handover mortal remains of three top Maoists gunned down in exchange of fire to their family members

The mortal remains of the three Maoists, who were gunned down in an exchange of fire in Maredumilli forest, would be handed over to their respective families to conduct last rites in a respectful manner, Rampachodavaram Deputy Superintendent of Police G. Sai Prasanth said.
On June 18, three Maoists were killed in an exchange of fire and they were identified as Central Committee member of the banned CPI (Maoist) and secretary Andhra Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC) Gajarla Ravi alias Uday and Raavi Venkat Chaitanya alias Aruna of Pendurthi in Visakhapatnam district, South Zonal Committee member and party member Anju of Konta block in Chhattisgarh, confirmed the DSP.
The exchange of fire took place along the Pamuleru stream near Akooru village in Maredumilli forest cover in Alluri Sitharama Raju district.
Speaking to The Hindu, Mr. Sai Prasanth said: 'We have shown the mortal remains of the three Maoists to their family members at the Rampachodavaram Area Hospital. The mortal remains of all the three Maoists will be handed over to their families in a very respectable manner. If need be, we will also provide logistic support for the transportation of the mortal remains.'
The inquest on the dead bodies of the Maoists has been completed for the post-mortem. The dead bodies are likely to be handed over to the family members by Thursday evening.

1 2 3 Jamshedpur: The security forces recovered 14 live IEDs from the forest on the borders of West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Sunday. The explosives were defused at the spot in a controlled way by the bomb disposal squad of the West Singhbhum police. Agency: PTI Last Updated: Chaibasa, July 20 (PTI) Security forces on Sunday recovered 14 IEDs planted by Maoists from the forest area on the border of West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharswan districts in Jharkhand, police said. West Singhbhum SP Rakesh Ranjan said he had received an intelligence input that explosives in large quantities were planted in a forest area on the border of the Toklo police station area in West Singhbhum and the Kuchai police station area in Seraikela-Kharswan to disrupt the ongoing anti-Naxal operation. A joint team was formed with personnel of CRPF, Jharkhand Jaguar and armed police of the two districts, he said. During the operation, security personnel recovered 14 IEDs, each weighing 2 kgs, from the forest, he added. They have also recovered a country-made hand grenade, ammonium nitrate powder, and a steel container. All the explosives were defused by the bomb disposal squad on the spot, the SP said.
