Metro2 days ago
As Celebrity Gogglebox comes back to screens, new and returning famous faces are taking to the sofa to entertain the nation.
The star-studded Channel 4 reality show brings together celebrities from across UK culture to share their weirdest, wildest and wackiest takes on the hottest TV shows in the land.
It boasts an impressive alumni, including father-and-daughter duo Danny and Dani Dyer; married reality stars Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash; Spice Girls icon Mel B and her daughter Phoenix Chi – to name just a few.
The seventh series is welcoming a fresh new cohort of stars to gain their Gogglebox stripes, with everyone from comedy legends to pop icons.
As the full lineup is slowly revealed, there are even exciting rumours of exactly who will complete the cast, such as Alison Hammond and her son Aiden, who have already done a travel show together.
So, without further ado, here's who to expect cropping up on your screen every Friday night from June 7. https://www.instagram.com/p/DKg3uLSoUFD/?hl=en
Phoenix Nights star Paddy McGuinness and BBC Radio 2 host Vernon Kay are going to be bringing Bolton's finest laughs to Celebrity Gogglebox this year.
The two will be sharing a sofa to give their commentary on the nation's favourite TV shows – news was confirmed by Channel 4's Gogglebox Instagram account when the full lineup was announced. https://www.instagram.com/p/DLrpTJGiHbU/?hl=en
Good news for any fans of This Morning, The Great British Bake Off, or Alison's own Big Weekend show, Alison Hammond is going to be on the couch with her lovely family.
Famous for her unique and infectious laughter, Channel 4 viewers will surely be giggling along as they watch Alison react loudly to the latest big moments in TV.
On Instagram, Channel 4's Gogglebox account posted: 'Say hello to @alisonhammond55, her sister, Saundra and her son, Aidan. Catch them tonight at 9pm, @channel4 📺👀'
The Inbetweeners star James Buckley has delighted fans after confirming he and his wife Clair will appear on the show this year.
The 37-year-old actor, best known for portraying Jay Cartwright in the hit 00s sitcom, took to social media to share the exciting news.
'Hi guys, how's it going? We are joining the Gogglebox family. We're going to be watching some great TV and some not so great TV. And you'll be able to join us on Friday on Channel 4 at 9pm,' he said.
James and Clair have already won fans over with their joint YouTube/podcast/book brand, At Home With The Buckleys, which tackles 'the wild ride that is modern marriage, parenting and adulting'. https://www.instagram.com/p/DKZ_FwvCanh/
The parents of two children – Harrison and Jude – are candid about their 'early lives, years of cult TV fame, having children and setting up their YouTube channel', cultivating over 250k subscribers.
If that wasn't enough, they also have another podcast, In Sickness and In Health, which focuses on discussing 'relationship non-negotiables.'
As such, there is plenty of excitement to see this dynamic duo bring their witty rapport to the Gogglebox sofa.
'Can't wait to see you on it jay cartwright you legend,' Chris_leeds_united_woodrow said.
'Omg I'm buzzing!! Cannot wait!' jessica_sellwood95 echoed.
'These two are class. What an addition to Gogglebox this is gonna be,' kellyann83 agreed. https://www.instagram.com/p/DKkkt_OssjN/?hl=en
Geordie Shore legend Vicky Pattinson and Strictly Come Dancing star Pete Wicks will be offering their verdict from their sofa in the new series of Gogglebox specials.
Vicky and Pete have been friends for years, with the two often standing by each other during their personal lives and professional careers.
Both made their names through reality TV, with Pete coming through the ranks over on TOWIE, so audiences will be keen to get their backstage gossip on any reality shenanigans they might be watching.
The pair will be joined by adorable dogs Milo and Max.
Next up, we have pop singer Jess Glynne, 35, and her partner Alex Scott, 40, who is a well-known former Lioness and sports commentator.
Taking to Instagram to share their involvement in the new series, the loved-up couple said: 'We are both so excited to be joining the Gogglebox family.'
Alex then turned to the Hold My Hand hitmaker and asked, 'Are you ready to watch some TV?' to which Jess responded, 'Yeah, are you?' and Alex replied in the affirmative, encouraging viewers to join them on Friday. https://www.instagram.com/p/DKe0DC4isSC/?hl=en
The brand-new stars have been in a happy relationship since summer 2023 and have been seen together at plenty of red carpet events.
Jess spoke about the joy she has found in life to Metro last year: 'I am happy, I feel like I've found a really good balance in my life. I've got support in my family, my business, my partner, everyone around me.'
Of course, they have sparked plenty of excitement among fans.
'Aww looking forward to this weeks episode even more,' user raerubyraek said.
'No place I'd rather be,' officialanmollakhani joked.
Former Spandau Ballet bassist Martin Kemp and his radio host son Roman will be giving viewers their thoughts on the TV zeitgeist of 2025 thus far.
It's not the first time the duo will have appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox, with the Kemps already familiar faces to those who've watched it before.
The pair have been on the show for six years now, with their first appearance coming in the celeb version's inaugural year back in June 2019. https://www.instagram.com/p/C74Rpg-iVBN/
After a standout year of cameos from Big Boys to Doctor Who, Rylan is charming the nation for another year as he returns to the sofa with mum Linda.
First joining the show in 2019, the mother-and-son duo have been staples of the Channel 4 reality show.
In a recent Instagram post, they confirmed this dynamic duo would be shaking things up again with Rylan joking: 'Cor, someone's had her makeup done, look!'
Fans celebrated their return, calling them 'the best'. https://www.instagram.com/p/DLIwozZMKLM/?hl=en
The 90s nostalgia will be off the charts when former Big Breakfast co-hosts Johnny Vaughan and Denise Van Outen reunite on the Gogglebox sofa.
Denise and Johnny hosted the Channel 4 breakfast show from 1997 until 2001, following a huge shake-up of the lineup after its first group of presenters were replaced.
The two have reunited on a few occasions since, but this will be the first time Channel 4 audiences have seen them together on the broadcaster in 24 years.
In a fun statement, Johnny told viewers: 'There's a box and we're goggling it, join us.' https://www.instagram.com/p/DKed5aJiNJR/?hl=en
The Happy Monday rockers are back at it for another series, as they announced on social media.
'We're back on Gogglebox with crisps, chocolate, jelly babies, popcorn, and we're gonna watch tele and what?', Bez asked Shaun.
'Talk a right load of b****,' Shaun gleefully responded.
The pair have made quite the splash on the show, with such vibrant chemistry that fans have been calling for them to get their own show all together.
In 1993, the pair formed Black Grape together and have remained close friends since then. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DKfInRdivHs/?hl=en
Do you think Channel 4 are likely to show Larry Lamb the full Gavin & Stacey Christmas finale from 2024? Or was that too long ago? We can live in hope.
The Edmonton actor and his presenter son George will be giving us their views on the latest from the world of TV when Celebrity Gogglebox returns on Friday, June 7.
In a short statement announcing the news, Channel 4 said 'the Lambs are in the house', with the dad-and-son pair sharing a video saying how happy they were to be joining this series and inviting viewers to 'join in'. https://www.instagram.com/p/DKeRYPwCp1Q/?hl=en
British swimmer Ellie Simmonds and close friend, radio personality Richie Anderson – who were co-stars on Strictly Come Dancing in 2022 – are returning for another series of Gogglebox.
'When I got the call, I did wonder whether I should do it. Then I thought I'd do a leap of faith. You don't know until you try,' Ellie said about her decision to join at the time.
The retired Paralympian, who recently featured in a new documentary, Ellie Simmonds: Should I Have Children, called their return to the show 'so exciting'. https://www.instagram.com/p/DKhy0LfiTPV/?hl=en
Comedy mother-and-daughter duo Jennifer Saunders and Beattie Edmondson will be joining famous faces on the brand new series of Celebrity Gogglebox.
The 80s and 90s comedy legend, 66, will be sitting alongside her daughter, 37, to give us their thoughts on the best TV of 2025 thus far.
In a video statement, Jennifer said, 'Hello, it's Celebrity Gogglebox and we're back,' before Beattie joked that they'd be 'watching TV [while] on TV'. https://www.instagram.com/p/C77PIRmttam/
The famed Radio 1 broadcaster Nick Grimshaw – who first appeared on the show in 2019 – is returning for another series of Gogglebox shenanigans with his niece, Liv.
In a chat with The Times last year, the regular joked: 'I love watching telly in the evening, but watching myself watching telly on Gogglebox is a step too far.
'When I do, I spend the next few hours thinking, 'Wow, I really shouldn't be on the TV,' which I think is a healthy reaction.'
This year has seen another big career milestone for the DJ and presenter who has recently joined the 6 Music Breakfast Show. https://www.instagram.com/p/DKcxGvzi8yW/?hl=en
Comic duo – Babatunde Aleshe and Mo Gilligan – are back, back again.
As Mo said: 'We're back, we hope you're back too. Come on! No scary movies, though, please.'
Babatunde was in full agreement, although they both seemed to quickly accept their fate, that there was likely a scary movie in their future.
The longtime friends and collaborators decided to join Celebrity Gogglebox when their work dried up over the pandemic.
The I'm A Celebrity star recounted: 'Then the pandemic hit, and the tour got postponed. I was like, OK, right, back to square one.
'But then [Mo] said, 'Look, we're still guaranteed to do the tour, but in the meanwhile, do you want to join me on Celebrity Gogglebox?' And I said, 'Hell, yeah!' And so it all fell into place. I started doing that, and then my manager at TfL informed me that they had to let me go.'
Last but certainly not least, Diversity duo Jordan Banjo and Perri Kiely are back.
The Britain's Got Talent winners and self-proclaimed 'besties' are sitting shoulder-to-shoulder in the new series, as they told fans.
They first appeared on the show with brother Ashley Banjo in September 2021 and have been regulars since then. More Trending
'Perri kills me. I will be watching this,' Simsimma1992 declared in the Instagram comments.
'Yay!! Excited to see you,' Aberdeenlass echoed.
Celebrity Gogglebox airs Fridays at 9pm on Channel 4.

Mel B's olive branch for Geri as she plans second ceremony after London wedding

Spice Girls icon Mel B and Rory McPhee recently tied the knot at St. Paul's Cathedral in London on Saturday afternoon, but three of the singer's former bandmates weren't in attendance Melanie Brown, better known as Mel B, recently tied the knot with long-term partner, Rory McPhee, at an intimate ceremony at St. Paul's Cathedral in London this weekend. They said their 'I dos' at the venue after their three-year engagement. Mel and family friend Rory, 37, have known each other for years, and he has worked as her hairstylist. Things are thought to have turned romantic between the pair in 2018 and Rory proposed to Mel back in 2022. While fans were eager to spot fellow Spice Girls in attendance, only Emma Bunton, 49, was photographed at the event. As Mel C couldn't attend, she took to her Instagram page to pay tribute to her pal. ‌ READ MORE: Oasis have released new tickets for UK tour - how to buy yours if you missed out ‌ Meanwhile, Geri Horner was noticeably absent as Mel tied the knot with fiancé Rory. Geri also chose not to post any well wishes to Mel B on social media, adding further fuel to the fire on their rift. It's said Mel B and her new husband, along with their guests, enjoyed a lavish reception at the Shangri-La at The Shard for drinks, food, followed by an evening filled with dancing. Although the couple already enjoyed a ceremony, it has been revealed there will be a second ceremony abroad this summer, which Mel B says will be "more informal, sexy and beautiful". It will act as a second chance for Mel's former bandmates to celebrate her marriage. She told The Sun: "In one incredible afternoon I found two perfect dresses. One beautiful classic dress by Josephine Scott, a British designer, and one stunning dramatic dress by a US designer, Justin Alexander.' ‌ Meanwhile, Victoria Beckham, who was notably absent, took a moment to acknowledge Mel's special day via Instagram. Posting a glamorous throwback of the two bandmates, Victoria captioned it with: 'Sending love to you @officialmelb! @rorymcphee is a very lucky man! xx.' Mel C, who was also unable to attend, shared her congratulations online. Posting a happy photo of the bride and groom, she wrote: 'So so happy for you both and beyond gutted I couldn't be there. Excited to celebrate with you really soon. Yipee!' Scary Spice recently took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes image from her special day. Captured from behind in her gown, Mel stood with her back to the camera, revealing the words 'Just Married' delicately embroidered on her dress. ‌ Her bridal look featured a gorgeous long veil and pearl embellishments at the collar and cuffs, giving the ensemble a timeless and regal finish. Her husband Rory, 37, opted for a nod to his heritage, wearing a traditional Scottish kilt. The happy couple shared a smooch on the steps of the cathedral before leaving the venue in a white, horse-drawn carriage - a fairy-tale moment for the newlyweds. Guests followed in true British style, riding to the reception in classic red double-decker Routemaster buses.

Geri breaks cover at F1 British Grand Prix after snubbing Mel B's wedding

Geri Halliwell has stepped out at the F1 British Grand Prix with her family, just one day after she snubbed her former Spice Girl bandmate Mel B's wedding to Rory McPhee Spice Girl Geri Halliwell has made a public appearance at the F1 British Grand Prix, looking stunning in an all-white ensemble, just one day after missing her former bandmate Mel B's wedding. The 52-year-old Spice Girl was noticeably absent as Mel tied the knot with fiancé Rory McPhee at St Paul's Cathedral in London on Saturday, surrounded by a host of A-list guests. Geri also chose not to post any well wishes to Mel B on social media, adding further fuel to the fire on their rift. ‌ Her relationship with Mel B has famously been turbulent over the years, with tensions between the pair making it difficult for them to share the same space without conflict. ‌ Geri, who is married to former racing driver Christian Horner, stepped back into the spotlight at the sporting event along with her two children, eight-year-old son, Monty, and 19-year-old daughter, Bluebell. The race itself wasn't short on drama due to the heavy rainfall, which caused a fair amount of chaos on the track. Geri continued to snub Mel B online while many other celebrities rushed to send Mel B congratulatory messages on social media, including Heidi Klum, Paloma Faith and Kerry Katona. Fans hoping for a full Spice Girls reunion were left disappointed, as only Emma Bunton, 49, was seen at the celebration. Baby Spice looked effortlessly chic in a blush pink dress, complemented by a matching hat and sparkling silver heels. ‌ Victoria Beckham, who was noticeably absent from the celebrations, took to Instagram to mark Mel's big day. Sharing a glamorous throwback photo of the pair, she wrote: 'Sending love to you @officialmelb! @rorymcphee is a very lucky man! xx.' Mel C, who was also unable to attend the wedding, sent her well-wishes on social media. Sharing a joyful photo of the newlyweds, she wrote: 'So so happy for you both and beyond gutted I couldn't be there. Excited to celebrate with you really soon. Yipee!' The beautiful wedding marks the third marriage for 50-year-old Mel B. She married 37-year-old hairstylist Rory McPhee, following her divorce from Jimmy Gulzar and Stephen Belafonte. ‌ Last year she said of Rory: 'When I went back to England, he would come over and give me hair treatments... and as he was nurturing my curls back, I guess he was nurturing my trust and belief in a relationship.' Rory popped the question in October 2022 at the Cliveden Hotel in Berkshire, after decking the room in flowers and going down on one knee. Being awarded an MBE in 2022 for her services to charitable causes and vulnerable women meant the star was able to tie the knot at St Paul's.

My husband thought I'd zoned out of our marriage & left the family home… but it was Alzheimer's, says Fiona Phillips

SHE had the dream job, a famous husband and two gorgeous sons – but behind closed doors, TV favourite Fiona Phillips was secretly crumbling. Best known for fronting GMTV for over a decade, the broadcaster was a breakfast telly icon with a glittering career and a huge smile. Advertisement 6 Fiona Phillips has opened up about her ongoing battle with Alzheimer's in a new book Credit: Camera Press 6 The star with Eammon Holmes on GMTV in the Noughties Credit: Rex 6 Fiona with her husband and now carer Martin, in 1998 Credit: Shutterstock Editorial But while she looked every inch the success story, her personal life was marred by tragedy and a devastating diagnosis that she did not see coming. Fiona, 64, revealed she was battling Alzheimer's in 2023 — the same cruel disease that claimed both her parents. The heartbreaking news made headlines, but the truth behind her journey is even more raw and emotional. In her new memoir, Remember When: My Life with Alzheimer's, Fiona lifts the lid on her private pain and the devastating toll it took on her marriage to former editor of ITV's This Morning, Martin Frizell, 65. Advertisement Martin also shares his side of the story in the book, which they wrote together. And he makes the brutally honest admission that he wished his wife had been diagnosed with cancer instead, calling Alzheimer's a 'cruel, drawn-out torture' that has turned their world upside down. Martin has now stepped back from work to care for his wife full-time. 'Left to cope alone' The pair, married for 28 years, have chosen to speak out to raise awareness of dementia, which an estimated 982,000 people live with in the UK. Advertisement Being brutally honest, I wish Fiona had cancer instead. It's a shocking thing to say but at least then she might have had a chance of a cure. Martin They want to highlight that it is not just a condition that affects the elderly, and how the level of care is severely lacking. Martin writes: 'Being brutally honest, I wish Fiona had contracted cancer instead. Fiona Phillips reveals her heartache as she's diagnosed with Alzheimer's 'It's a shocking thing to say, but at least then she might have had a chance of a cure, and certainly would have had a treatment pathway and an array of support and care packages. 'But that's not there for Alzheimer's. Advertisement 'Just like there are no funny or inspiring TikTok videos or fashion shoots with smiling, healthy, in-remission survivors.' He goes on: 'After someone is diagnosed with Alzheimer's, they are pretty much left to their own devices. 'There is nothing more that can be done and you are left to cope alone.' Back in January 1997, Fiona felt like the 'luckiest woman alive' when she landed the job of a lifetime as lead presenter on GMTV. Advertisement But behind the scenes, it was pressure-cooker stuff — 4am starts, non-stop stress and a producer 'barking' in her earpiece. At home, life was just as intense. With two young sons, Nathanial and Mackenzie, plus a weekly newspaper column, radio show and endless TV gigs, she was 'running on empty'. Weekends were spent away in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, caring for her mum Amy, who was slowly slipping away due to Alzheimer's and died in 2006. Advertisement Soon after losing his wife, her dad Phil was diagnosed with the same illness. Fiona previously said the drive from London to Wales every other weekend with the two boys strapped in the backseat 'nearly cracked me up'. She left GMTV in December 2008 — reportedly midway through a £1.5million contract, which cost her £500,000 — to spend more time with her family. Fiona admitted back then that the decision was the 'hardest I have ever had to make — like jumping off a cliff and hoping someone will save me halfway down',. Advertisement But she revealed she had 'finally discovered that I can't have it all' and felt like she was 'dropping balls' all over the place. While Fiona finally had more time to dedicate to Martin and the boys, her career never quite recovered. She took on bits and pieces of work — including a stint on Strictly Come Dancing in 2005 and presenting a Channel 4 documentary titled Mum, Dad, Alzheimer's and Me in 2009. But Fiona admitted she never felt 'completely right' and became 'disconnected' from her family. Advertisement Meanwhile, she was starting to struggle with mood swings, erratic behaviour and an inability to complete everyday tasks, such as going to the bank. 6 Fiona with her dad Phil, who died in 2012 after battling Alzheimer's Credit: Channel 4 6 Martin said he wished his wife had been diagnosed with cancer, because at least there was hope of a cure for sufferers Credit: Getty Things came to a head with Martin in 2021 and he moved out of the family home, accusing her of 'zoning out' of their marriage. Advertisement After three weeks apart, the couple met at a hotel and agreed they wanted to stay together — but things had to change. Fiona had initially suspected the exhaustion, anxiety and brain fog she had been battling was a side effect of Long Covid. She contracted the virus in 2020. But by then, Fiona was wondering if her symptoms were down to menopause. Martin urged her to talk to telly doctor Dr Louise Newson, who specialised in menopause and recommended a course of hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Advertisement But after several months of seeing little change, Dr Newson recommended she was properly assessed. In 2022, a consultant broke the heartbreaking news to the couple that Fiona, then 61, had early onset Alzheimer's. It's something I might have thought I'd get at 80…but I was still only 61. My poor mum was crippled with it, then my dad. It keeps coming back for us. Fiona Fiona had secretly feared that one day it would come for her, too, after it 'decimated' her family. But the news still came as a shock. Advertisement Writing in her book, she recalls: 'Neither of us said a word. 'We sat rigid, locked in suspended animation between everything our lives had been before this moment and everything they would become beyond it.' She previously told the Mirror: 'It's something I might have thought I'd get at 80 . . . but I was still only 61 years old. "My poor mum was crippled with it, then my dad, my grandparents, my uncle. It just keeps coming back for us.' Advertisement Fiona and Martin kept her diagnosis quiet for a year, as she hated the idea of becoming 'an object of gossip or even pity'. 'Horrible secret' Gradually, the couple began to feel they should tell more people, so Fiona would be understood and not judged if she began behaving strangely. Realising the impact she could have by raising awareness of the disease's symptoms, the star decided to go public in July 2023. Fiona characteristically insisted she was 'getting on with it', adding of her illness: 'I'm not taking notice of it. Advertisement 'I'm just doing what I normally do. 'I don't want to not work, be sitting around playing with my fingers or watching telly. 'I just like doing things.' She told the Mirror: 'All over the country, there are people of all different ages whose lives are being affected by it — it's heartbreaking. Advertisement 'I just hope I can help find a cure which might make things better for others in the future . . . it's a horrible bloody secret to divulge.' While there is no cure for Alzheimer's, Fiona is currently taking drugs to slow the illness's progression. She also joined a trial programme for a drug called Miridesap at University College Hospital in London, in a bid to slow the effects of the disease. But Fiona now needs a lot of help with everyday tasks including showering, brushing her teeth and getting dressed. Advertisement Martin said his wife is 'existing', unable to remember 'anything from 30 seconds ago', and she 'can't think about or imagine a future'. At times, she becomes distressed and confused, shouting at him that he isn't her husband. It is something he finds difficult, but understands that the illness has 'taken her mind'. Martin admitted the journey is an exhausting and lonely one, writing that it breaks his heart to see his 'strong, independent wife has become so vulnerable'. Advertisement He adds: 'I'd like to tell you Fiona is content in the situation into which she has been forced. 'I'd like to give readers some sense that she is at peace. 'But that wouldn't be the truth. 'She isn't — she is frustrated every single day. And depressed. Advertisement 'I miss her. I miss my wife.'
