REUNITED group The Maccabees celebrated their return to the Glastonbury stage with a surprise appearance from a festival legend.
The band initially split in 2016, but reformed this year and cemented their comeback by headlining the Park Stage at Worthy Farm on Sunday night.

An hour into their set, the band stepped things up for fans, and revellers with Florence Welch, the iconic lead singer of Florence and The Machine.
Florence is a Glastonbury regular, headlining on the main Pyramid stage back in 2015 and famed for songs including Shake It Off, You've Got The Love and Kiss With A Fist.
Together, the group performed track Love You Better, before Florence and The Machine's iconic crowdpleaser, Dog Days Are Over.
Florence declared: "Do we have any Maccabees super-fans in the audience? Because you definitely have one on stage.'
The Maccabees headline slot closed out The Park Stage after a massive weekend – with The Prodigy headlining The Other Stage and Olivia Rodrigo taking to the Pyramid Stage.
The weekend has proven to be filled with surprise collaborations – with Olivia Rodrigo bringing out The Cure's Robert Smith during her headline slot.
Rod Stewart, who took the Legends slot on Sunday night, reunited with his Faces bandmate – Rolling Stones legend Ronnie Wood – as well as Simply Red's Mick Hucknall and Lulu.
DJ Fatboy Slim also surprised fans by bringing out his son, Woody Cook for a performance, who he shares with Radio DJ Zoe Ball.
Glastonbury made sure fans knew this weekend would be one full of surprises when Lorde kicked off the festival on Friday with a surprise set – performing her entire new album, Virgin, on stage.
This was followed shortly afterwards by confirmation that Lewis Capaldi would be making his Glastonbury return on the Pyramid stage in the mysterious 'Secret Set' slot.

In honour of this, and in one of the more unexpected performances, fellow Scottish band Franz Ferdinand brought out "The Original Capaldi" for their hit Take Me Out – Doctor Who's Peter Capaldi.
Pulp made their comeback to the festival – 30 years since they headlined – after being revealed as the mysterious Patchwork which had been marked for a key spot on the Pyramid stage on Saturday.
Haim also had a surprise set on Saturday evening on the Park Stage.
However, the festival was dogged with crowding issues, with major stages having to lock off access ahead of major sets.
On Saturday alone, this included Charli XCX' s headline slot on the Other Stage, Scissor Sisters' headline slot on the Woodsies Stage, and Kneecap's performance on West Holts.

'They even infused her water with strawberries to suit her tastes. But Olivia didn't need anything special. 'She just chowed down on boiled eggs and toast before the show and hung out with Ed. Everyone was talking about how lovely and low key both her and Ed were.' The source added that there was no fuss made for the down-to-earth star who had a huge wardrobe with her but simply just chose one outfit and 'decided not to change again'. On the night she wowed in a pair of Union Jack hot pants as she shared her 'love' for England during her headline set. She put on a show-stopping performance on the Pyramid Stage as she closed the festival at Worthy Farm in the daring number which she teamed with fishnet tights and a graphic T-shirt. During her energetic set, Olivia paused to express her love for a variety of British foods as she gushed over Marks and Spencer sweets. She said: 'One thing you should know about me is f***ing love England, I love England so much. It's bands like the Cure that first got me acquainted with England but now that I'm older I have so many things I love about England.' The good 4 u hitmaker, who is dating British actor boyfriend Louis Partridge, also 22, revealed her greatest loves for the country and gushed that she 'really loves English boys'. Glastonbury festival-goer shares 'cool' encounter with Emily Eavis
A 12-year-old girl has spoken of her joy after a chance meeting with Emily Eavis, months after exchanging letters with the Glastonbury Festival Rapson-Woods, who lives in Faversham, Kent, wrote to the festival boss expressing her love for the event after visiting Somerset's Worthy Farm for the first time in 2024. She received a handwritten letter from Ms Eavis in response and could "not believe it" when she and her father bumped into her at this year's said she was struck by Ms Eavis' kindness during the "really cool" encounter and was shocked when the Glastonbury boss said she remembered Ava's letter. Ava decided to write to Ms Eavis after it was announced that Olivia Rodrigo - her favourite artist - would headline the she received a response weeks later, Ava said she "immediately started crying". Along with her dad, she was exploring the site on the Thursday, when she noticed the festival said she "couldn't believe" how kind Ms Eavis said the "really cool" encounter was made all the better when Ms Eavis suggested they take a picture together. Ava's dad Mike said she "had the time of her life" at the festival and has been "slightly obsessed" since her first visit in will "100%" be trying for tickets when the festival happens again in 2027, Ava said."It's paradise. You don't have to worry about a thing and everyone is so friendly," she added.
