In an earlier promo, Mohanlal hinted at a stricter tone this season, warning against 'overcuteness,' 'overemotions,' and the ever-popular 'angry youth' persona. Look: Amitabh Bachchan's fan tattoos megastar's face on his arm

Even after more than five decades in the spotlight, Amitabh Bachchan's bond with his fans remains unshakable. On Sunday, the legendary actor stepped outside his Mumbai residence, Jalsa, to greet the sea of admirers who had waited for hours just to catch a glimpse of him. That's a ritual he has maintained for over 40 years. Bachchan later took to his blog to share a series of photos capturing the heartfelt interactions. In the images, he is seen greeting fans with folded hands and waving with a warm smile. One photo revealed a tattoo of Amitabh's face inked onto a fan's hand. Alongside the photos, the 82-year-old penned a brief message: 'Ever in gratitude and affectionate love. Life endears and moves on .. To the next life?' The megastar's Sunday Darshan has long been a sacred tradition for both him and his admirers. In a previous blog post, he had mentioned that he removes his shoes before stepping out to meet them, calling it an act of 'devotion.' Reflecting on how times have changed, he noted that the once-thunderous cheers have now been replaced by raised mobile phones, capturing memories in silence rather than sound. On the work front, Amitabh was last seen in Vettaiyan, a 2024 Tamil-language action drama that marked his Tamil film debut. The film, directed by T J Gnanavel, featured an ensemble cast including Rajinikanth, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, and Manju Warrier.

Kannada actor Santhosh Balaraj, star of 'Ganapa' and 'Kariya 2', dies at 34

Kannada actor Santhosh Balaraj, best known for his roles in Kempa (2009), Ganapa (2015) and Kariya 2 (2017), died on August 5 following an illness. He was 34. The actor, according to The Federal, was suffering from jaundice for the past few days and was admitted to a private hospital recently. His condition began to worsen and was admitted to the intensive care unit early on August 5, when he breathed his last. The son of Kannada film producer Anekal Balaraj, Santhosh began his acting career with the action drama Kempa. The movie, which also starred the veteran actors Pradeep Rawat and Avinash, opened to mixed reviews. Santhosh's father had died in a road accident in 2022. He is survived by his mother. However, he was noticed for his role. He later starred in the romantic drama Olavina Ole (2012) opposite Neha Patil, but the movie was panned for its formulaic plot. His performance in the actioner Ganapa, his third film, put him on the big league. The movie was based on real-life incidents of the Bengaluru underworld and saw him play an orphan who's forced into turn a gangster. Reviews for the movie were largely positive, underlining Santhosh's performance. In a 2021 interview to The Times of India, Santhosh said that he refused to be typecast and indicated his willingness to do varied roles. Kariya 2, his last movie, was a sequel to the 2003 blockbuster headlined by actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, who is presently in jail on murder charges.

Veteran Malayalam actor Shanawas passes away at 71

Malayalam cinema has lost one of its veteran actors. Shanawas, the son of iconic Malayalam film star Prem Nazir, passed away late Monday night at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram following prolonged health issues. He was 71. According to family sources quoted by Indian media outlets, Shanawas had been battling serious ailments for a long time. His condition reportedly worsened in recent days, prompting his admission to the hospital, where he later breathed his last. Shanawas began his acting journey in 1981 with Prema Geethangal, directed by Balachandra Menon. Over the years, he carved out a space for himself in Malayalam cinema, starring in over 50 films and several television serials. Some of his most notable performances came in films such as Mazhanilavu, Neelagiri, Manithali, Gaanam, Aazhi, and Human. After a long break from the industry, Shanawas made a return to the silver screen with the Mohanlal-starrer China Town in 2011. His final film appearance was in the 2022 blockbuster Jana Gana Mana, headlined by Prithviraj Sukumaran. Condolences poured in from across the Malayalam film industry and beyond.
