Telugu actor and comedian Fish Venkat passes away at 53
Widely recognised for his distinct and effortless comic timing, Fish Venkat was a familiar face in Telugu cinema, with a career spanning more than 100 films. He was introduced to the industry by the late filmmaker Dasari Narayana Rao in the movie Sammakka Sarakka. His performances in films like Kushi, Bunny, Adhurs, Gabbar Singh, DJ Tillu, Slum Dog Husband, and Coffee with a Killer earned him a loyal fanbase and critical appreciation.

In recent weeks, Venkat's daughter Shravanthi publicly appealed for financial assistance to fund his kidney transplant, which was estimated to cost around Rs 50 lakh. While some misleading reports claimed that actor Prabhas had extended financial aid, the family clarified that these were part of a scam involving impersonation. They told Suman TV, 'Actually, nothing like that happened. We have been answering every call we get to see if anyone can help us. Some unknown person called us pretending to be Prabhas Anna's assistant. We found out after that it was a fake call. He doesn't even know something like this is happening. We have not received any financial help yet.'
However, genuine contributions did come in from actor Pawan Kalyan, who donated Rs 2 lakh, actor Vishwak Sen, and a Telangana state minister. But a suitable kidney donor could not be found in time. Fish Venkat is survived by his wife and three children. His untimely death has left fans, colleagues, and the Telugu film fraternity in mourning. The loss comes on the heels of other recent tragedies in the industry, including the deaths of Kota Srinivasa Rao Garu and actor Ravi Teja's father, Rajagopal Raju, deepening the sense of grief within the community.

'Won't run for even a day...': Made for Rs 10 crore, this film was initially tagged a flop due to..., yet made the makers rich, movie is..
It is still a mystery what exactly can make a movie a superhit or a super flop. Maybe it's the casting, a scene, a song, or even a dialogue. Something similar happened with the film we're going to discuss today. This movie, made for Rs 10 crore, did not perform well in its initial days. However, as days passed, the film garnered attention and eventually turned out to be a huge hit. It earned the title of a cult classic, and perhaps in the coming days, we might even witness a franchise based on the movie. Twenty-three years ago, one of Bollywood's ace directors helmed the movie and cast three of the finest actors in the industry — Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, and Boman Irani. Now, all these characters might ring a bell in your mind, and let us tell you, we are talking about none other than Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. Was Initially a Flop Would you believe it if we told you that Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. was initially a flop? Yes, the film initially faced challenges, with reports of empty theaters on the first day. No Distributors Wanted to Buy Munna Bhai M.B.B.S Vidhu Vinod Chopra is counted among Bollywood's top producers. He has produced films like Pradeep Sarkar's Parineeta, Rajkumar Hirani's Munna Bhai franchise, 3 Idiots, and PK. But in a recent interview with Screen, he revealed that no distributor from South India wanted to buy Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. Despite that, the movie made Vidhu rich. He recalled that the film opened to nearly empty theaters but became his most profitable venture, mainly because it wasn't sold outside Mumbai initially. Vidhu recalled a discussion with a South Indian distributor who purchased the movie for Rs 11 lakh. The distributor arrived to collect the film just four days before its release but expressed doubts after watching it. 'Sir, this film won't work even for a day. Nobody outside of Mumbai would understand the language of Munna Bhai,' Chopra recalled him saying. Adding further, the filmmaker revealed that he once offered to refund the Rs 5 lakh advance paid by another South Indian distributor. However, the distributor preferred to keep the money, expressing faith in Chopra and his belief that Chopra's next film might be a hit. Chopra explained, 'The bottom line is I had no distributor for South India. I had friends — Shyam Shroff and Bala Shroff — who had a company.' He shared that there was a cinema in Chennai where he secured only a single morning show at 11 a.m. He sold his print there for Rs 5 lakh, but the final business from that one centre crossed Rs 1 crore.

Every time Salman Khan releases a movie, it creates a frenzy among fans. From long queues at the booking counters to social media being flooded with love, a lot happens whenever a Salman film hits the screens. However, did you know that Salman was once denied a UK visa? Yes, you read that right! Scroll down to know the reason. Why Was Salman Khan Denied a UK Visa? In 2014, Salman Khan's movie Kick was released. The spy-thriller became a huge hit and minted Rs 200 crore. But did you know that during the shoot of the film, a major chunk was supposed to be filmed in the UK? Half of the unit had already reached the UK. However, when it was Salman's turn, his visa was denied. According to reports, the visa was rejected because Britain's rules prohibit the entry of any person convicted of a crime in any court. Salman Khan was convicted in two pending hunting cases for killing a chinkara. Another interesting aspect of Salman Khan's blackbuck case is that Jagdeep Dhankhar, who recently resigned from the position of Vice President of India, helped Salman secure bail. For the unversed, Jagdeep Dhankhar was the counsel for Bollywood actor Salman Khan and the other accused in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case. Salman Khan's Film Still Became a Hit Despite this hurdle, Salman proved his mettle. Made on a budget of Rs 140 crore, Kick grossed Rs 372.50 crore worldwide at the box office. The movie was produced in collaboration with Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and UTV Motion Pictures. The film earned Rs 26 crore on its first day, which was the second-biggest non-holiday opening at the time. The film earned Rs 82 crore in its first weekend and Rs 155 crore in its first week alone. It became Salman Khan's first film to enter the Rs 200 crore club and was one of the biggest blockbusters of 2014. Box Office: Fantastic Four takes a mediocre start in India, Opens below Superman & Jurassic World Rebirth
The Fantastic Four: First Steps has finally been released in cinemas today. The Marvel Studios movie has taken a mediocre start at the box office in India and got heavily dented by the blockbuster performance of bollywood romantic film, Saiyaara. Fantastic Four debuts with Rs 5.25 crore, opens below Superman and Jurassic World Rebirth Starring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn, The Fantastic Four: First Steps couldn't make it big in India on its opening day. The superhero action movie opened with Rs 5.25 crore net, which is not an expected start for such a well-budgeted MCU film. The Hollywood movie managed to flirt with Brad Pitt 's sports-drama F1 opening day but remained below James Gunn's Superman and Scarlett Johansson's Jurassic World: Rebirth. For the record, Superman had taken a decent start of Rs 6.75 crore in India while the Dinosaur movie stormed over Rs 8.25 crore net on its opening day. Did Saiyaara affect Fantastic Four's Day 1 box office? The superhero movie faced the wrath of Mohit Suri's sensational blockbuster film, Saiyaara, which is not stopping anytime soon. The Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda starrer clocked over Rs 18 crore net today on 2nd Friday. The difference between the box office numbers clearly shows how the audience is inclined more towards the holdover release than the new Hollywood movie. One must note that Saiyaara has also got more showcasing and screen count in Week 2 than its opening week, which eventually affected Fantastic Four's business. All eyes are now on the weekend growth of the Pedro Pascal movie. If the superhero flick manages to hold well and clocks a decent figure, it might help it in sustaining at the box office for a couple of weeks. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.
