Sanjay Dutt romanced Aishwarya Rai in these two films, one had many bold scenes, both flopped badly at box office, Amitabh Bachchan was...

In early 2000s, Bollywood witnessed two notable collaborations between legendary actor Sanjay Dutt and a younger leading lady, Aishwarya Rai. Despite their star power, they failed to make a mark at the box office. These films, though ambitious in their storytelling, didn't resonate with audiences as expected. Which films are these? The first of these films, 2005's Shabd, directed by Leena Yadav, featured Sanjay Dutt and Aishwarya Rai in lead roles. The narrative revolves around Shaukat Vashisht (Dutt), a celebrated author grappling with writer's block, and his wife Antara (Rai), whose real-life experiences begin to blur with the fictional world he creates. What was the storyline of this film and its box office reception? The film delves into the complexities of imagination and reality, exploring themes of obsession and control. Notably, Shabd presented a more intimate portrayal of its leads, with scenes that were considered bold for their time. Despite its intriguing premise and the chemistry between Dutt and Rai, the film underperformed commercially, earning just over Rs 10 crores against a budget of approximately Rs 9 crores. Critics appreciated its artistic approach, but it failed to attract a wider audience. What was the other collaboration between Aishwarya Rai and Sanjay Dutt? Before Shabd, in 2002, the duo had shared screen space in Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin, helmed by David Dhawan. This film boasted an ensemble cast, including Amitabh Bachchan as Dr. Rastogi, Aishwarya Rai's on-screen brother, and Ajay Devgn as her love interest. Sanjay Dutt portrayed Munna Bhai, a gangster who finds himself entangled in a love triangle. What was the box-office reception? The film attempted to blend elements of comedy, romance, and action, drawing inspiration from the Hollywood film Analyze This, starring Robert De Niro and Billy Crystal. Despite its star-studded lineup and high expectations, the film managed to collect around Rs 22.80 crores worldwide, falling short of its potential and being labeled a flop. These two films marked the only collaborations between Sanjay Dutt and Aishwarya Rai. While both projects offered unique narratives and showcased the actors' versatility, they didn't achieve the desired success. The reasons could be attributed to various factors, including audience preferences at the time and perhaps the unconventional themes explored.

Rohit Shetty's Surprise Cameo In Son of Sardaar 2 Leads To Golmaal 5?

Last Updated: Rohit Shetty's surprise cameo and a Golmaal 5 tease add spark to Ajay Devgn's latest comedy. Ajay Devgn's much-awaited comic entertainer Son Of Sardaar 2 hit theatres on August 1. The sequel comes 12 years after the first film and brings back the fun and energy of the original. While fans were excited for the film's humour and star cast, they were in for an extra treat: a surprise appearance by director Rohit Shetty. Shetty, known for his action-packed and comedy blockbusters, appears unexpectedly in the film, as per Bollywood Hungama. Viewers get a small clue before he shows up on screen, and the moment is said to be one of the film's highlights. What makes it even more interesting is that his cameo has a subtle link to the upcoming Golmaal 5, which he is directing. Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty have a long history of hit films together. From Zameen in 2003 to Singham Again in 2024, they have worked in 12 movies. Golmaal 5 will be their 13th. The buzz around it is likely to grow after Shetty's surprise entry in Son Of Sardaar 2. This strong partnership has produced fan favourites like Golmaal, Singham, Bol Bachchan and Sooryavanshi. Their consistent success has made them one of Bollywood's most loved actor-director duos. What's New in Part 2 Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, Son Of Sardaar 2 also features Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, Neeru Bajwa, Deepak Dobriyal, Kubbra Sait and many others, including the late Mukul Dev. The film is backed by Devgn Films and Jio Studios. The original Son Of Sardaar (2012) starred Ajay, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt and Juhi Chawla. That film had a popular cameo by Salman Khan, which was revealed before its release. In contrast, Rohit Shetty's cameo in the sequel was kept under wraps. Box Office and Streaming Plans Son Of Sardaar 2 clashed at the box office with Dhadak 2. While the film has reportedly received mixed reactions, some viewers have appreciated its humour and performances, while others felt it didn't live up to expectations. The film was originally set to release on July 25 but was postponed by a week, reportedly due to the success of Saiyaara. After its theatrical run, Son Of Sardaar 2 will stream on Netflix. Son of Sardaar 2 opens slow: Only 27,000 tickets sold despite 50% discount

Son of Sardaar 2 Advance Booking: After much anticipation, Son of Sardaar 2 has finally arrived in cinemas, but early box office numbers suggest a rocky start. The sequel to Ajay Devgn's 2012 comedy hit was expected to draw big crowds, yet it has opened to a lukewarm response. With Dhadak 2 heating up the competition, the film now faces an uphill climb. Packed with chaos, colourful characters, and laugh-out-loud moments, the multi-starrer—featuring Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, Kubbra Sait, and more—promises a wild comedic ride in true Son of Sardaar style. But will it find its footing amid fierce competition? Meanwhile, Ayan Mukerji's War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, and Mohit Suri's Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, which is having a dream run, will be fierce rivals to the film. On the first day, the audience received a 50% discount when advance bookings for Son of Sardaar 2 opened on Tuesday night. About Son of Sardaar 2 tickets on day 1 Originally scheduled for release on July 25, Son of Sardaar 2 was rescheduled for August 1. The movie's producers, Jio Studios, revealed that on BookMyShow, viewers may purchase tickets for the opening day at a 50% discount. 'Laugh out loud. 50% off tickets! Bring the whole family to watch #SonOfSardaar2. "Get 50% off (T&C applied) by using code SOS2," they added as part of their offer. The coupon can save up to ₹200 and can only be used when purchasing two tickets. Son of Sardaar 2 struggling for screens? Son of Sardaar 2 sold about 27,000 tickets on its opening day in the top three national chains (PVR Inox and Cinepolis), according to a Pinkvilla report. The pre-sales for the movie have been rather modest, indicating a slow start at the box office. The movie will be released in 2500 and 3000 screens in India, which is a calculated decision considering the rivalry from Dhadak 2 and earlier films, Saiyaara and Mahavatar Narsimha at the box office. Even though Son of Sardaar 2 is a sequel to a popular movie, it is anticipated to open with a modest Rs 6.5 to Rs 7 crore. Pinkvilla had claimed that the movie's distributors have been trying to obtain a substantial 60% of the total number of showings, but certain exhibitors have refused to cooperate. The report says, 'While some single screens have agreed on two shows per day, the non-national chains are willing to give not more than 35 per cent shows to Son of Sardaar 2. This has left PVRInox fuming, and the fight is on to secure more shows." Son of Sardaar 2: Cast and Crew Ajay Devgn, Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, Neeru Bajwa, Deepak Dobriyal, Kubbra Sait, Chunkey Panday, Vindu Dara Singh, Roshni Walia, and others are featured in Son of Sardaar 2. Ajay Devgn would return to his role as Jaswinder "Jassi" Singh Randhawa in the film, which Vijay Kumar Arora directed. In order to make amends with his wife, Jassi will travel to Scotland in the film. Once there, he gets caught up in a violent wedding and a mob fight. Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande are the producers of Son of Sardar 2, which is distributed by Jio Studios, Devgn Films, and SOS 2 Limited. The film was co-produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak and N R Pachisia, and Pravin Talreja.
