Rangers drew Motherwell 1-1 in their first match of the Scottish Premiership season.Scorers: Tavernier 14' ; Longelo 87'
Rangers took an early lead as Joe Rothwell's corner was met by a firm header from club captain James Tavernier.
Rangers controlled the remainder of the opening half, taking nine shots to Motherwell's two.
However, Motherwell began the second-half on the front-foot, creating numerous chances including a rebounded shot which forced a last-ditch clearance from John Souttar.
In spite of an energised second-half performance and several nervy moments from Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland, Motherwell were seemed unable to find an equaliser.
Then, in the final minutes of regulation, Emmanuel Longelo found the bottom corner with a left-footed finish having fallen over just seconds earlier.
As a result, Russell Martin comes away from Fir Park with a disappointing draw in his first league match as Rangers manager.
Martin will be hoping his team can improve on tonight's result as they face Czech side Viktoria Plzen on Tuesday in UEFA Champions League qualifying.

Parker pleased with chance creation in first Saints Women friendly

NEW Saints Women boss Simon Parker was pleased with the number of chances his side created during their first pre-season friendly of the summer. Southampton FC Women put in a comfortable first-half performance against AFC Wimbledon to earn a 4-2 win on Sunday. Parker's first match in charge saw new forward Emma Harries score a goal and provide two assists, as fellow summer signings Kiera Sena, Jess Simpson, and Abbie Ferguson also netted. Saints led 4-0 at the break before making wholesale changes for the second half, introducing a number of under-21 players. Six new Saints started overall in Parker's first half line-up, including a first start for young goalkeeper Ella Pettit, who played the entire game. After a few weeks of working with his new squad, a number of whom are new to the club, Parker feels the team is already forming an identity. "In regards to the two halves, I thought the first was very good. You could see there was an idea of what we wanted to do. We were more purposeful," Parker outlined. "We were getting into the wide areas, which we wanted to do, and we scored from crosses and cutbacks - we should have scored more, actually. "They had a particularly high line. We just needed to read the offisde trap better, but I'm ultimately pleased. The pitch was quite small. "I thought it was good loading for our players, a good first half where we created good chances and could see what we are trying to do." Saints get their 2025/26 Women's Championship campaign under way against newly-promoted Ipswich Town on Saturday, September 6. Rianna Dean and Paige Peake, who were at Saints last season, have joined the Tractor Girls this summer after leaving the St Mary's side on a free transfer.

🎥 Happy Joe Bryan Day to all Fulham fans

Covid football was weird, wasn't it? As the world went into lockdown, games carried on in the summer of 2020 to crowds of zero. One of those games happened five years ago today as Fulham played Brentford in the Championship play-off final. It was a day that would go into folklore for Cottagers fans with Joe Bryan scoring twice in extra-time as the west London outfit beat their neighbours to return to the Premier League. That first goal, by the way. 📸 Shaun Botterill - 2020 Getty Images
