GOF seizes 6 tonnes of coconuts, 8.5 tonnes of rice in border ops
Two lorry drivers were also arrested for possession of the smuggled goods.
GOF Southeast Brigade commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abd Hamid said in the first incident, a patrol team spotted a suspicious lorry at an illegal jetty in Pengkalan Kubor around 4.30pm.
"Upon inspection, they found about 6,000kg of mature coconuts loaded in the back of the vehicle.
"The driver failed to produce valid documentation for the goods.
"The total value of the seizure, including the lorry, was estimated at RM210,000," he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 3(1)(a) of the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority Act 1965 (FAMA Act).
In a separate operation at 12.30am, another GOF team stopped a lorry at Jalan Kampung Bendang Pak Yong in Simpangan.
"The vehicle was found to be carrying 8,500kg of white rice suspected to have been smuggled in from Thailand.
"The 23-year-old driver is believed to have been delivering the rice for sale in the local market," he said.
The total value of the seizure, including the lorry, was estimated at RM159,000.
The case is being investigated under Section 20 of the Control of the Padi and Rice Act 1994.
Ros Azhan said both cases reflect the persistent smuggling activities along the Malaysia–Thailand border, particularly through ungazetted routes.
"The GOF remains committed to intensifying operations such as Op Taring Wawasan Kelantan to curb the flow of contraband and safeguard the country's economic and agricultural interests," he said.
He added that enforcement teams would continue to monitor hotspots along the border.

Indonesian embassy urged to speed up travel documents for detainees in Sabah
TAWAU: The Indonesian consulate or embassy has been urged to expedite the issuance of travel documents in lieu of passports (SPLP) for 969 of its nationals currently detained at immigration depots in Sabah. Sabah Immigration director Datuk Sh Sitti Saleha Habib Yusoff stressed the need for cooperation to ensure detainees can return home promptly. 'The last transfer was in March this year. Imagine, these people have now been detained at immigration depots for three to four months. Without the SPLP, their detention will be prolonged,' she said. The same requirement applies to Filipino nationals, who also need valid travel documents before repatriation. Speaking during an inspection of the repatriation of 108 Indonesian illegal immigrants via the Tawau Ferry Terminal, she reiterated that embassy-issued documents are mandatory for detainees to be sent home. In a separate operation, authorities detained 11 Pakistani men in Semporna for failing to produce valid documents. Two claimed spousal ties with Malaysians, while one held a temporary employment pass but was found outside his designated location. - Bernama

Parents Reject RM100,000 Settlement, Demand Justice
Subscribe to our FREE A heartbreaking case has emerged from Johor Bahru, where the parents of 5-year-old Teo Yu Zie, who died after being left in a school van for 5 hours, have rejected a RM100,000 settlement offer from the kindergarten. On 30 April this year, Yu Zie was found unconscious in his school van at around noon. The boy had been left forgotten inside the vehicle for approximately five hours and died from suffocation. The 57-year-old van driver was scheduled to appear in court on 17 June but failed to show up, prompting the issuance of an arrest warrant. Parents' Emotional Plea At a recent tearful press conference, Yu Zie's mother and father expressed their devastation. 'Can RM100,000 buy back my child's life? Even if you gave me RM1 million, I don't want it. I just want my child back!' sobbed the mother, her eyes red from crying. The Chinese national mother criticised both the kindergarten and van driver for refusing to accept responsibility, saying they only offered the money out of 'sympathy' rather than admitting fault. The family's lawyer announced they will formally reject the settlement and file a lawsuit at the Johor Bahru High Court in August. The family is seeking RM2.059 million in compensation from four parties: Tadika Perintis Indah kindergarten YK Education Group Sdn Bhd Double Tree Transport Sdn Bhd Van driver Yao Zhi Rong (transliteration) Attendance Mystery The mother, a Chinese national, criticised both the kindergarten and the van driver for refusing to accept responsibility, saying they only offered the money out of 'sympathy' rather than admitting fault. The school claims they took attendance that day, but my child never appeared in class. Who signed him in? No one can answer. She believes the tragedy could have been prevented if proper attendance and sign-in procedures had been followed. The lawyer plans to write to the Attorney General's Chambers, requesting them to overturn the Johor state legal advisor's decision not to charge the kindergarten operators. Currently, only the van driver faces charges under the 2001 Child Act. The kindergarten owner is the driver's employer and failed in their supervisory duties. Why can't they be charged when even parents have been prosecuted under the Child Act before? READ MORE : Based on original reporting by Share your thoughts with us via TRP's .
