''Second Acts Live' brings the craft of theater into the world of sports storytelling, creating an original
experience for audiences and superfans across the country,' said Tre' Scott, co-founder of Folk
Productions, a division of Folk Media Group. 'We are not just producing a live show with Front Office
Sports, we are launching a brand new platform for sports stories within live entertainment.'
Scott told Variety, 'We're really making sure to differentiate this from a live podcast or TED Talk.'
Front Office Sports CEO Adam White explained that when the team was creating the show, they looked at how Cirque du Soleil had borrowed elements from Broadway. 'That is a literal example of when we were creating the show, this is our North Star, and how do we borrow from those elements in the way Cirque du Soleil was built, and build a new product?'

The inaugural show will take place in Seattle this September and feature Bird. Additional shows this
year will include Wojnarowski in Philadelphia this October, exploring his transition from breaking news to shaping the landscape of a new era of college athletics. In December, Vick will take the stage in Atlanta to discuss the multiple acts that led him to leadership. New York, Los Angeles and Chicago are planned for 2026.
Scott described what audiences can expect from this immersive theatrical experience: 'You're going to be taken on a journey, and that journey may not look and feel the same every show, and it's going to be refined to what each guest's story is.'
'Second Acts Live' is directed by Miranda Haymon. Scenic and video design is by Lisa Renkel. General
Management is by Sarah Battaglia of Evan Bernardin Productions. Adam Rodner produces for Folk
Productions.

‘Freakier Friday' First Reactions Call Disney Sequel a ‘True Delight' With Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis Delivering ‘Hilarity and Emotion' in a ‘Great Feel-Good Film'

'Freakier Friday' has been unveiled to members of the film press, and first reactions are calling it a 'great feel-good film' that is 'hilarious' as it is 'touching.' TV host Jeff Conway took to X to share his praise. He gushed that the film was 'double the fun' with 'twice the heart' as the original 'Freaky Friday.' 'These 22 years later, Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis haven't missed a beat! Their on-screen chemistry is truly something special,' he wrote. 'A true delight that the entire family will enjoy.' Variety's senior artisans editor Jazz Tangcay wrote on X that the film was 'an absolute riot,' adding that she 'laughed' out loud and 'cried' during the tender family moments. 'It's such a great feel-good film,' she wrote. 'Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis deliver hilarity and emotion in this funtastic sequel. I never knew I needed this film! Oh and Manny Jacinto, I love him.' Entertainment journalist Brandon Davis echoed the praise, writing on X that he was 'howling' with laughter during Tuesday night's premiere screening. 'Jamie Lee Curtis is having the time of her life and it's a blast to watch,' Davis wrote. 'It's silly and sometimes confusing but hilarious throughout, even touching at times. Absolutely some of the most fun I've had watching a movie this year.' 'Freakier Friday' takes place years after the original. Anna now has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As she attempts to navigate the struggles of merging her two families, Anna finds herself, her mom Tess, her daughter and her stepdaughter in a four-way body swap. What starts as pure chaos soon helps them find some understanding amid the complicated family transition. Original stars Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis return as the leading mother-daughter duo. Other cast members include Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Manny Jacinto, Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan. While speaking to Variety at the Las Culturistas Culture Awards, Curtis said she has learned a lot from Lohan since returning for the Disney sequel. 'She has taught me so much,' Curtis said. 'She has her team, where her two people would be standing on either side of a camera holding a big light. It's Lindsay lighting — that would have been good branding — they hold lights so that we look better. So, I've learned a lot from her already. We had a good time. We love each other.' The original 2003 'Freaky Friday,' based on Mary Rodgers' 1972 novel, follows widowed mother Tess and her teenage daughter Anna. During an impasse in their relationship, they find a magic fortune cookie that causes them to swap bodies, resulting in a deeper familiarity between them. Adam Sandler on a Potential 'Billy Madison' Sequel: ‘Let's Write That Tonight'

The list of iconic Adam Sandler movies from the 1990s and early 2000s is lengthy, and the release of Happy Gilmore 2 is set to give fans a blast from the past. The decision to remake the beloved 1996 film has now sparked hope from some fans that there could be more on the horizon. While there doesn't appear to be any other Sandler-led sequels in the immediate future, the topic of one memorable film was brought up at the Happy Gilmore 2 premiere on Monday, July 21. Billy Madison. During the press segment of the movie premiere, Sandler was asked by Variety when the Billy Madison sequel is coming, and he had a great (yet seemingly sarcastic) response. "Let's write that tonight," Sandler said. In the 1995 film, Sandler plays a spoiled rich kid who spends his days partying, but when his father gives him an ultimatum, he must reconsider his priorities. If Madison doesn't retake and pass every grade in school within 24 weeks, his father's hotel business will be given to his business associate, Eric, instead of Madison. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem likely that Sandler will run back another one of his popular films anytime soon. However, if he did choose to do so, fans would surely love to see the 58-year-old bring Billy Madison back to life. After all, who wouldn't want to know what the former man-child Madison is up to after his grueling 24-week stretch of school?Adam Sandler on a Potential 'Billy Madison' Sequel: 'Let's Write That Tonight' first appeared on Men's Journal on Jul 22, 2025 Solve the daily Crossword

Dodgers put Tanner Scott on IL, but hopeful he returns this season

The Dodgers still want, and need, to acquire a reliever in the next nine days. But, at some point after July 31 trade deadline, they are hopeful of adding Tanner Scott back into the bullpen mix too. In what could be the latest bullet the Dodgers have dodged on the injury front recently, Scott was put on the injured list Tuesday with what was initially described as 'elbow inflammation' — preserving hope that his season might not be over after exiting Monday's game with a 'stinging sensation' in his forearm. As of Tuesday afternoon, manager Dave Roberts and general manager Brandon Gomes said the club was awaiting its medical staff to fully review the results of an MRI that Scott had earlier in the day. But both noted that Scott, who turned 31 on Tuesday, reported improvement in his elbow compared to how he felt Monday, when he walked off the mound flexing his throwing arm after spiking a slider in the dirt during the ninth inning of the Dodgers' series-opening win over the Minnesota Twins. 'Tanner came in feeling pretty good,' Gomes said, 'so we'll wait to see the full report and go from there.' 'I'm still hopeful that we'll get Tanner back at some point,' Roberts added. Scott has underwhelmed in the first season of his four-year, $72-million contract with the team, posting a 4.14 ERA in 47 outings with only 19 saves in 26 opportunities. However, losing him for the season would have been a significant blow to a Dodgers team that has already seen key reliever Evan Phillips undergo Tommy John surgery, and navigated around long-term injuries to Blake Treinen (who is nearing the completion of a rehab assignment), Michael Kopech (who is hopeful of returning from the 60-day injured list when eligible in late August) and Brusdar Graterol (who is still expected back from an offseason shoulder surgery that has sidelined him all year). 'He's not throwing the baseball as well as he's gonna be throwing the baseball,' Roberts said, maintaining hope not only that Scott will return but also flash improved form down the stretch this year. 'But just to have somebody that's there, that takes the baseball, has been huge.' Of course, Scott's troubles (along with similar scuffles from fellow offseason signing Kirby Yates) have highlighted the need for the Dodgers to target another high-leverage reliever at this year's deadline and bolster a bullpen that ranks 24th in ERA and a far-and-away first in innings pitched. Before Scott's injury Monday, president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman said 'any time a needle-moving player is available, we're gonna get involved,' when asked how aggressive the team will be in addressing its bullpen need. To that end, there should be no shortage of attractive options, with as many as nine top relievers expected to be available to some degree — from Minnesota Twins flamethrower Jhoan Durán, to multi-time All-Stars like Emmanuel Clase of the Cleveland Guardians and David Bednar of the Pittsburgh Pirates, to established veteran closers such as the Tampa Bay Rays' Pete Fairbanks and Baltimore Orioles' Félix Bautista, and maybe even young Athletics star Mason Miller. Outside of St. Louis Cardinals right-hander Ryan Helsley, however, almost all of this year's biggest relief targets are under team control beyond this season. That means acquisition costs will be high; at least in the eyes of a Dodgers' front office that has long been wary of overspending on relievers at the deadline. 'The prices are always crazy come the deadline,' Gomes said. 'That's why we did everything we could this offseason to not have to be in the position to buy.' The Dodgers do have internal depth they like. This week, the team called up Edgardo Henriquez, a hard-throwing right-hander who missed the start of the year with a broken foot, and Alexis Diaz, the former All-Star closer for the Cincinnati Reds. Friedman also suggested that, with Blake Snell and Roki Sasaki working toward returns from injury, there could be surplus starting pitchers who eventually get moved into the bullpen later this year. 'We feel like we're gonna get to a place where we're not gonna have enough starting pitcher spots for our starting pitching,' Friedman said. 'So there could be some spillover of that into the bullpen.' However, adding another high-leverage arm to the back end of the group remains a priority. Had Scott been lost for the year, that burden only would've grown. 'Once we get Dr. ElAttrache's take on it, we'll obviously have more clarity,' said Roberts, who plans to go closer-by-committee in Scott's absence. 'But right now, him talking to the training staff, we feel good about it.'
