Today's Fast/FestivalShani Pradosh Vrat Jyestha month's Krishna Paksha Trayodashi Tithi falls on Saturday, 24th May this year and the vrat has thus been referred to as the "Shani Pradosh Vrat." Pradosh Vrat is observed on Trayodashi of the Krishna and Shukla Paksha. It takes on a lot of significance if it falls on a Saturday, in asking for Lord Shani (Saturn)'s blessings.On this day, pray to Lord Shiva by pouring water, Belpatra (Bilva leaves), etc., on the Shivling and reciting the mantra "Om Namah Shivaya." For the gratification of Lord Shani, light a sesame oil lamp, give black sesame seeds as donation, and feed the poor.By performing this vrat (fast), the devotees attain the grace of Lord Shiva and Lord Shani. It is especially beneficial for those experiencing the ill effects of Saturn.

Pradosh Vrat Puja Vidhi: Wake up early in the morning in Brahma Muhurat, bathe, and pledge to observe the fast.
Wear fresh clothes and purify your home temple.
Put a red cloth on a wooden platform and fix idols or photographs of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
Present Belpatra, Ganga jal, Datura, Bhang, white flowers, agarbattis, and a lamp to the Shivling or Lord Shiva.
Present fruits and sweets as naivedya (offering) to Lord Shiva.
Chant the mantra "Om Namah Shivaya" or chant the names of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
Light a ghee diya and do the aarti of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
