Tej denies forming new party, says RJD is in his prayers
RJD
for revealing his relationship with a woman, party chief Lalu Prasad's elder son
Tej Pratap Yadav
on Friday dismissed reports suggesting he was preparing to launch a new political outfit to challenge the opposition party in the upcoming assembly elections.
In a post on X, Tej Pratap accused his detractors of spreading "rumours" and appealed to the public not to fall for such misinformation. "This is too much now. This 'Jaichand' has now spread the rumour that I am floating a new political outfit. I will appeal to the people of Bihar not to believe any such misleading news," he wrote.
In a surprising move, Tej also expressed goodwill towards the party that expelled him. "I pray for the success of the RJD," he added, offering a note of reconciliation despite his removal.
Accompanying his message, Tej posted photographs and a video with his father. In the video, he is seen standing behind Lalu, who is seated, while an emotional song plays in the background, referring to his father as his "life" and someone who is "more than God" to him. The public display of affection comes after his expulsion, which many viewed as a sign of familial and political estrangement.
Tej Pratap was removed from the RJD for six years following a viral photo with a woman. The action was taken after he publicly declared on social media that he was in a relationship, a revelation that came around six years after his separation from his wife Aishwarya Rai.

Opposition keeps up attack on Govt, Manoj Jha says House must apologise
From fixing accountability over the Pahalgam terror attack to clarification over US President Donald Trump's claims of brokering truce between India and Pakistan, Opposition parties kept up their attack on the government as the special discussion on Op Sindoor continued in Rajya Sabha Wednesday. RJD's Manoj Kumar Jha said the Pahalgam attack showed that no lessons had been learnt from previous terror incidents and that it warranted an apology from MPs across party lines. Stating that the killing of 26 civilians in Pahalgam on April 22 became 'collective pain' of the country, Jha said: 'Time has come for the entire House to apologise to the nation for all such incidents… We should say to the people that we are sorry, we do not learn from history… I am saying this for everyone, not one individual or party… It is said that there were intelligence inputs…if there were indications, what actions did they trigger?… we are clueless to this day…' Jha said. Jha hailed the country's 'unified front' in the aftermath of Pahalgam, but cautioned it should not be utilised to 'shield the government'. He also urged restoration of 'full-fledged' statehood to J&K, underlining 'an unprecedented change' in how the people there reacted to the Pahalgam attack. 'Kashmir is not just a piece of land… the people of Kashmir have also laid down their lives… but they have a government which has responsibility without power…,' he said. Jha also proposed a resolution condemning Trump for seeking credit for brokering the ceasefire. 'Come clean, we are with you Honourable Prime Minister…' he said. CPI (M)'s John Brittas said that for the government, a new normal meant 'celebration of failure'. He asked why did the Union Home Minister not resign after Pahalgam if former home minister Shivraj Patil did so after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, when the UPA was in power. 'Will history judge Shah as morally inferior to Shivraj Patil?' he asked. On Trump, Brittas said: 'We want our PM to say Trump is speaking rubbish… The moment you say, we will all support.' Independent MP Kapil Sibal said India does not have 'that many resources that we can destroy Pakistan,' which, he added, receives technological support from China. Sibal said, 'In October 2024, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh addressed the declining strength of the Indian Air Force squadrons, which had reached 31, the lowest since 1965.' Sibal also criticised Union Home Minister Amit Shah for not inviting J&K CM Omar Abdullah to a security review meeting before the Pahalgam attack. Sanjay Raut of the Shiv Sena (UBT) demanded Shah quit. 'The LG has accepted that there was a security lapse. Who is taking responsibility and who will resign… Pandit Nehru, J D Vance or Trump? The Home Minister has to resign,' he said. TMC's Susmita Dev asked why India abstained from the IMF meeting that approved a financial package to Pakistan. CPI's Sandosh Kumar P urged the government to fill over 1 lakh vacant posts in the Army urgently. In the later half of the discussion, Congress and TMC MPs demanded the PM address the House and staged a walkout. ‘Dog Babu' case: Political conspiracy suspected ahead of Bihar assembly elections
Patna: An investigation into the issuance of a residence certificate to "Dog Babu" in Patna district has suggested a political conspiracy, with the employee, who issued the document, suspected to be close to a local RJD legislator, an official said on Wednesday. Meanwhile, after "Dog Babu" and "Sonalika Tractor", it has been found that "Samsung" and one "Dogesh Babu" have also applied for residential certificates in Jehanabad and Nawada districts respectively, prompting the authorities to order an investigation. In the "Dog Babu" case, Mintu Kumar Nirala, the executive assistant at Masaurhi circle office in Patna, was arrested and jailed on Tuesday for his role as the alleged mastermind and key conspirator. "The arrested person is known to be a close relative of an RJD leader in Masaurhi," a source said, adding that Nirala admitted to uploading documents and falsely using another person's Aadhar card to apply for the residence certificate. The source added he fraudulently obtained approval of the certificate, and then circulated the fake document on social media to garner the spotlight. Nirala deleted all data from his computer following public attention, he said. Masaurhi subdivisional magistrate Abhishek Kumar said an investigation is being carried out to find out the possible involvement of others behind this act. Denying the charges, however, RJD legislator Bhai Birendra said this is a part of conspiracy to defame the main opposition party. "This charge is baseless. Now that the administration has been caught on the wrong foot, it is blaming the RJD," Birendra said. In Jehanabad, officials said they were scrutinising the applications received by the Modanganj circle office on Tuesday when they came across one "Samsung" applying for a residence certificate. Samsung is a South Korean manufacturing conglomerate headquartered in Seoul. Sources said they became suspicious when they found "Samsung" mentioning "Iphoan" as father and "Smartphoan" as mother, while describing "Battery" as its village. Further, the applicant described "govt service" as occupation. "We have taken the matter seriously and written to the cyber police station to conduct a thorough investigation into the case. Action will be taken against the accused once we get their report," local circle officer Mohd Asif Hussain told the TOI over the phone on Wednesday, describing the application as an attempt to tarnish the image of the local administration. Close on the heels of the case of "Dog Babu", one "Dogesh Babu" also applied for a residential certificate at the Sirdala circle office in Nawada district, and "Sonalika Tractor" applied for the same in East Champaran district. In both the cases, certificates were not issued, but the district magistrates (DMs) concerned ordered lodging of FIRs against the people who submitted the applications. "Copy cats, or rather I should say, copy dogs, tried applying for a residence certificate from Sirdala, Rajauli ... were caught in the act. FIR being registered for lame and stale attempt at humour (sic)," Nawada DM Ravi Prakash wrote on his social media handle.
