'This preseason series of matches is not just about preparing to compete; it's about honoring our roots and stepping onto the global stage,' says Sporting JAX President and CEO Steve Livingstone. 'Hosting Hibernian FC Women is especially meaningful as we pay tribute to the late Ron Gordon, a beloved friend, mentor, and one of our founding investors. Ron's leadership revitalized Hibs and helped bring Sporting JAX to life. This match is dedicated to him and the Gordon family.'
On August 10, Sporting JAX will host Wrexham AFC Women, the Welsh club owned by 'Deadpool' actor Ryan Reynolds and 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' actor Rob McElhenney. Wrexham's story gained notoriety thanks to the popular FX docuseries 'Welcome to Wrexham.'
'We're also thrilled to welcome Wrexham AFC Women to the First Coast, a club whose story has captured hearts and headlines around the world,' says Livingstone. 'Their story has ignited incredible energy for the sport and introduced new fans to the women's game, especially here in the U.S. They're the perfect preseason opponent as we introduce Jacksonville's first professional women's sports team to the community and world.'
Sporting JAX says both matches are part of Sporting JAX's 16-game season ticket package, along with 14 regular season home games. Fans who already bought season tickets will automatically receive tickets to the games. Single-game tickets for the two international friendlies are on sale now. Fans can also purchase a combined two-game 'Euro Pack.'

Regression or progression for Commanders QB Jayden Daniels in 2025?

This week, there was more talk about Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels potentially experiencing an NFL sophomore slump. But in this case, the two hosts weren't buying the talk of Daniels falling into the dreaded sophomore slump. Nope, Robert Mays and Derrick Klassen on their "The Athletic Football Show" podcast actually held firmly that they don't see Daniels falling off drastically. Advertisement For example, they discussed how NFL teams will adjust their strategies this year and employ different blitzes against Daniels. Thus, yes, a quarterback's performance against the blitz can vary from year to year. When suggesting that Daniels could fall back slightly against the blitz, a reference came to how, when being blitzed late in a game, he threw a deep touchdown. That no doubt was referring to the MNF win, when Daniels connected with Terry McLaurin down the right sideline, in the end zone, ensuring the Commanders' road win in Cincinnati over the Bengals. It was admitted that though Daniels might not maintain the rate to make a large gain against the blitz, the two ended up agreeing that they actually can easily see Daniels making enough of the plays he needs to make against blitzes in 2025. Comical is not the accurate description when listening, however, it was evident that both hosts agreed that when watching the film of the 2024 games, Daniels showed more than a few times that under duress, he already had an understanding of where to go with the football against certain blitzes. No, Daniels was not in the top ten quarterbacks in yards passing, but that's okay; he wasn't in the top ten in passing attempts either. Advertisement Maintaining a level of objectivity, Daniels did have a weakness last season of taking sacks. Being sacked 47 times, he was sacked the sixth most by an NFL quarterback in 2024. How much of that was the line? How much of that was Daniels? It's not a simplistic answer, as there were times last year when the line was inadequate; there were also instances where Daniels is clearly holding the ball and ends up being sacked. One side note, I recall numerous times when Daniels didn't throw the ball away and instead ran, only to get sacked for a loss of only a yard or two. Look for Daniels to be more consciously aware in this second NFL to taking sacks vs throwing away the ball. Who knows, having the same offensive coordinator (Kliff Kingsbury), might the learned familiarity with the same offense, result in Daniels not experiencing a slump at all? Todd Chrisley, Julie Chrisley Detail Reunion After 28 Months in Prison

Originally appeared on E! Online Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley found strength in one another. The couple reflected on meeting for the first time in 28 months after being pardoned by President Donald Trump amid their respective prison sentences. 'It was surreal,' Julie explained on a clip from the June 28 episode of My View With Lara Trump. 'People have asked, 'Was it weird? Was it awkward?' It really wasn't.' Todd didn't feel so far from his wife of 28 years, despite serving his 12-year sentence in Florida while Julie was serving her seven-year sentence in Kentucky. 'I was never away from her because she was in my spirit the entire time,' he explained to Trump's daughter-in-law Lara Trump. 'I thought of her every second of my day. So, when I hugged her the first time, it was like I was home.' 'It was not like I had been missing,' he continued. 'I knew I was coming home to the same woman that I left. Now, when I say the same, I'm talking about in my heart spiritually.' More from E! He added, 'We have changed, and if we did not change in these 28 months, it would have been wasted.' As the patriarch begins a new chapter with his family, he's still standing by his innocence. After all, he vehemently denied committing tax evasion and wire fraud, which he and Julie were convicted of in 2022. 'I would have remorse if it was something that I did,' Todd said during a May press conference. 'The corruption that went on in our case is going to continue to unfold.' E! News reached out to the Department of Justice at the time of the press conference, but the agency declined to comment. While Todd continues to emphasize his innocence, he knows it was Savannah's advocacy that ultimately led to their release. "She has fought a long fight, and for any parent to see their child fight this hard, it's a double-edged sword,' he said at the podium. 'It's a blessing, and then your heart breaks because your child has been placed in that position to fight for you, when, as a parent, you're supposed to fight for your children." 4 former Steelers poised for huge 2025 seasons including Justin Fields

The Pittsburgh Steelers took a huge risk this offseason by completely gutting out their skill-position players from top to bottom. Quarterbacks Justin Fields and Russell Wilson are both set to start for other teams, running back Najee Harris as well and wide receiver George Pickens now gets to line up with an elite running mate at receiver. Ultimately, how these four players perform in relation to their replacements will go a long way in terms of public perception of the job head coach Mike Tomlin has done. Let's break out the positions these four find themselves in. Quarterback Justin Fields Fields got a raw deal in Pittsburgh. After going 4-2 as a starter in 2024, Tomlin chose to bench Fields in favor of Wilson, which ended any opportunity to re-sign Fields. Now Fields is the new starting quarterback of the New York Jets and has some excellent weapons around him and a coaching staff willing to tailor things around his skills. Quarterback Russell Wilson No one expected Wilson to come in and win a Super Bowl. But after missing the first six games with a calf injury, Wilson returned last season and started off hot. But after going 6-1 in his first seven starts, the wheels fell off and the team crumbled down the stretch. Now, Wilson is set to start but compete with rookie Jaxson Dart to run what is set up to be an explosive Giants passing game. Running back Najee Harris When Harris signed with the Los Angeles Chargers, we immediately felt like this was the best thing that could happen to him. We love Harris as a player and never felt like he was the best fit in Pittsburgh and didn't have the offensive line to help him be successful. Now, even with rookie Omarion Hampton with the Chargers, Harris is in a great spot to be a much more effecient runner, even if he isn't the full-time starter. Wide receiver George Pickens We hated to see the Steelers trade Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys. Even with all his issues, we felt like having DK Metcalf on the team as well as Aaron Rodgers to be the offensive leader would have been great for him. Now, he goes to a near-identical situation with quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb to push his game to the next level.
