Now, Gaps Emerge On Pardi Flyover
While commuters have raised concerns about the gaps on the busy stretch, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), which implemented the project, has claimed that there is no cause for alarm.
TOI visited the spot on Friday and observed a big gap between the two spans of the flyover on the Itwari or Wardhaman Nagar leg. Apart from this, a gap was also observed on the joint at the rotary from legs coming from Manewada and Central Avenue sides.
These gaps have raised serious concerns among commuters, who claimed that they could lead to accidents or cause their valuables, like mobiles or other materials, to fall into them.
Since the five-legged flyover, dubbed as 'Khekda Flyover' for its crab-like structure, was announced, it has faced several controversies. The work on the 7 km flyover started in 2016 and was expected to be completed by 2019, but after missing multiple deadlines caused by complications, including changes in design and utility shifting, the bridge was finally completed after almost a decade.

The flyover was initially to be constructed at a cost of Rs448 crore, but the cost escalated to over Rs600 crore.
A span of the bridge collapsed in October 2021 during construction. The NHAI finally opened the Itwari (Wardhaman Nagar), Kalamna, and Bhandara Road legs of the flyover in September 2023, while the remaining two legs — Manewada and Central Avenue — were opened in February this year.
On the next day of its opening, a large chunk of loose concrete fell on a car passing below, damaging it completely.
The issue has been primarily witnessed on the leg that was opened in September 2023.
A senior NHAI official said that there is no need for alarm. "The gap in the joints is visible because of the rubber seal falling. We will soon install the rubber seals again. There is no problem with the structural integrity of the flyover," said the official.
However, locals and commuters are not convinced. "Since the flyover has opened, one issue or another is arising in it. It already took a decade to complete, and now these things are happening, raising serious questions about the quality of the work," said a commuter.

The Authority plans to install the traffic booths in high-density areas like NTPC Flyover, Sector 62 Underpass, Sector 15 Metro Hospital Chowk, Film City Flyover, DND Loop, Mahamaya Flyover, Shashi Chowk, Parthla Roundabout, and Sector 104 Hydel Roundabout. Each booth costs approximately Rs 1.5 lakh, totaling Rs 50–55 lakh. These booths will serve as shelters and operational posts to improve traffic monitoring and ease congestion, especially during peak hours, accidents, or rainfall, given Noida's heavy daily vehicle movement from Delhi and nearby districts. The Authority plans to complete the construction and installation of the booths over the next few months, pending the finalisation of the tendering process.

Based on the jury's decision, Tesla will be responsible for paying nearly $42.5 million in compensatory damages. However, as punitive damages were exclusively assessed against Tesla, plaintiffs' attorneys expect the company to pay the full $200 million, potentially bringing its total payment to around $242.5 million. Cracks develop on side slope of Bakhtiyarpur-Mokama road
1 2 Patna: The side slope of the newly inaugurated Bakhtiyarpur-Mokama four-lane in Patna district developed cracks on Monday. Use of substandard materials in the construction of the side slopes appears to be the reason behind cracks in a span of around 1km, alleged local residents. Sanjeevan Kumar, a local resident, while expressing concern over development of cracks in the side slope said the four-lane project was executed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). He alleged that corruption in the construction agency that executed the project led to the damage. He said, "The situation could lead to major accidents, and an investigation into the damaged side slopes should be initiated immediately. The company was informed of these issues previously. The road, which was supposed to provide access to several villages, including Chanda and Mahmadpur, remains incomplete, affecting the daily commute of residents from 10 villages. Only one flank of the four-lane is operational. " Rajeshwar Rai, a resident of Ranisarai, said that the one-way of the four-lane road has already resulted in eight to 10 accidents recently. However, project director of the Bakhtiyarpur-Mokama four-lane, Arbinda Kumar, said: "Due to heavy rainfall, slope failure occurred in the Bakhtiyarpur-Mokama project, against which rectification measures were immediately taken at the site. Further, rectification is almost completed." Built over a stretch of 44.6km, the four-lane project started in 2017 and was to be completed in Dec 2019, but it was delayed due to land acquisition issues along the route. The project completion was later extended to Dec 2021, but two lanes of one flank of the four-lane were inaugurated by chief minister Nitish Kumar in March. After travelling approximately 45 km on the Patna-Bakhtiyarpur four-lane, earlier commuters used to travel on the old two-lane road to go from Bakhtiyarpur to Mokama. Built at an approximate cost of Rs 870 crore, commuters are now travelling through the two lanes of a single flank of the Bakhtiyarpur-Mokama four-lane. The work on the other flank is still ongoing at some places. It is expected to be completed soon.
