Guardians pitcher Luis Ortiz place on paid leave amid MLB investigation
The nature of the league's investigation was not immediately known.
Ortiz, in his first season with the Guardians, will remain on paid leave through the end of the All-Star break due to an MLB investigation, the league said, adding that it will not comment further until their probe is complete.
The Guardians also released a statement following MLB's announcement.
"The Guardians have been notified by Major League Baseball that Luis Ortiz has been placed on leave per an agreement with the Players Association due to an ongoing league investigation.
"The Guardians are not permitted to comment further at this time, and will respect the league's confidential investigative process."
The 26-year-old right-handed pitcher was acquired by Cleveland in a trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates that also included Michael Kennedy and Josh Hartle in exchange for Spencer Horwitz.
In 16 starts with the Guardians, Ortiz is 4-9 with a 4.36 ERA and 96 strikeouts. His losses are tied for the most in the American League currently.
After getting scratched from Thursday's lineup, Cleveland called up left-hander Joey Cantillo, who is 1-0 with one save and a 3.81 ERA in 21 appearances this season.

Orioles acquire Alex Jackson from Yankees after Gary Sánchez becomes their 4th catcher on IL
ATLANTA — The Baltimore Orioles acquired Alex Jackson from the New York Yankees on Sunday after Gary Sánchez became their fourth catcher on the injured list. Sánchez left Saturday night's game against Atlanta with right knee pain and an MRI revealed a sprain. Interim manager Tony Mansolino said he did not have a timetable for Sánchez's recovery. Baltimore, which has 14 players on the IL, sent the Yankees international signing bonus pool allocation and a player to be named or cash. Two-time All-Star Adley Rutschman has not played since June 19 because of a left oblique strain, Maverick Handley has been on the concussion IL since a collision at the plate with the Yankees' Jazz Chisholm Jr. on June 22 and Chadwick Tromp hasn't played since June 30 because of a lower back strain. Interim manager Tony Mansolino said he did not have a timetable for Sánchez's recovery. Jacob Stallings, who replaced Sánchez in Saturday's 9-6 win over the Braves in 10 innings, and Jackson, who was with the team for Sunday's game in Atlanta, will form the restructured depth chart at catcher. Stallings' contract was selected from Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday. Mansolino said he is confident Jackson and Stallings, who started on Sunday, have the experience needed 'to quickly catch up and make themselves an asset.' Jackson, 29, hit .226 with 10 homers in 44 games for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season. He made his major league debut with Atlanta in 2019 and also has played for Miami and Milwaukee. 'Obviously you have a whole lot of time in the big leagues now with multiple teams,' Mansolino said, adding the Yankees are a 'very forward-thinking organization.' Infielder Jorge Mateo, who last played June 6 due to left elbow inflammation, was transferred to the 60-day IL to clear a roster spot for Jackson. ___ AP MLB:

People Are Sharing The Things That Immediately Made Them Lose Interest In The Person They Were Dating, And My Mouth Is Agape
When you know what you need from a romantic partner, all it takes is one wrong move from someone (no matter how big or small) to destroy any romantic interest you thought you had in them. So, when Reddit user r/divine_delirious asked the simple question, "What killed your interest in someone?" in r/AskReddit, people flocked to the comments to share their horror stories: 1."I overheard him (a grown man) shouting and insulting his mother for not washing his laundry sooner." —u/WildeHilde00 2."First date. We sat down at a table for dinner, and the previous customer's tip was still sitting there. She picked it up and put it in her purse." —u/TaroFuzzy5588 3."We ate in the car, and on our way back home she opened the window and took the ARMFUL of trash and FLUNG it out the window. No warning. Fucking degenerate." —u/Obvious-Yesterday-98 4."Told me he was single, then opened up that he lives with someone who thinks they're still in a relationship even though he's 'done.'" —u/ProfileNew1071 5."They trolled kids online. I don't understand how people get joy out of hacking games to terrorize people who did nothing wrong." —u/AccomplishedScene966 6."He complained about everything, and if he couldn't find something to complain about, he'd make something up so he could complain about that. I can't get behind that compulsive need to be miserable." —u/painandpets 7."She smoked a cigarette outside my house (already a red flag) and threw the butt in my garden with zero hesitation. It was like a movie where the butt spun in the air in slow motion, and the camera cuts to my face, also in slo-mo... making a single, telling, and extended blink." —u/MagicianCompetitive7 8."Lying about his height and then getting mad at women for being lied to. We matched online, and he told me he was short, like 5'6" on a good day. I said that's totally fine because I'm 5'3", so I didn't mind that at all." "He rolled up and was absolutely 5'0" or 5'1". I thought I'd give him a chance anyway. He spent the date talking about how shallow women are because they don't like that he's short. Maybe, my guy, we don't like that you lie to us." —u/tatotornado 9."Too superficial. He needed to always be wearing designer, have a fancy watch, let everyone know within minutes of talking to him that he went to Stanford, said he never liked to have a car for more than a year (he would lease them), and it always had to be some expensive car, etc." —u/dumbandconcerned 10."He was codependent with his mom. He seemed like a nice guy. A bit immature, but he didn't seem too bad at first. A few dates in, he starts insisting his mom join in on everything." —u/Knotical_MK6 11."She would always talk about her IBS issues. I can sympathize, but talking about your literal shit half the time — especially when we're still just getting to know each other — isn't exactly a turn-on." —u/Own_Cost3312 12."I was on a date, and as we were walking to our destination, I noticed a man experiencing homelessness struggling to step up onto a curb. So I walked over and helped him up; no big deal, it all lasted less than 30 seconds. My date was absolutely DISGUSTED that I would touch a person experiencing homelessness. She was convinced I was covered in piss and was weird the rest of the date. We didn't go on a second date; it was mutual." —u/ChiliCorndogs 13."It felt like I was begging for his attention and demanding his time and presence. Then I remembered how I was treated in my most recent past relationship and how I cried a lot. I promised myself I won't let myself be in the same situation again." —u/Katya_Ivelle 14."She mocked and mimicked how my mom talked as a mom literally had ALS and couldn't articulate properly." —u/---Calliste--- And finally, here's a deeply troubling one that I'm glad this person took a stand against and got very, very far away from: 15."I'm mixed (Black and white), and I was talking to a boy who was dark-skinned. One day, out of nowhere, he said he's glad I'm not dark because my skin color is 'perfect.' He started making comments about how dark-skinned women are ugly, and he would never date one. His MOTHER is a dark-skinned woman. I immediately lost all interest and feelings for him and never spoke to him again. Colorism is disgusting!" —u/Creepy_Budget_9074 Have your own story to tell about something someone did that totally killed your interest in them? Let me know in the comments.
