‘Finally Rajkummar Rao in a new genre': Fans react to action-packed Maalik trailer, cheer for Prosenjit Chatterjee too
The trailer shows how Rajkummar Rao's character rises up from a world where the powerful show no mercy for the poor, and establishes his own kin with time. He says, 'Maalik paida nahi hue to kya, bann toh sakte hain (What if I wasn't born a ruler, I could become one).' However, he has rivals in his path to power, as Prosenjit Chatterjee's character (a police inspector) arrives. He openly tells Maalik's love interest (played by Manushi Chillar) that he has been sent to hunt him down. What unravels is a cat-and-mouse game which turns violent and ruthless. Fan reactions
Reacting to the trailer, a fan commented, 'Maalik trailer promises a well-made gangster drama, but the cut could've been better. The director of Bhakshak gives me a lot of hope. Also, Rajkummar Rao will be seen in a different avatar after a string of similar roles and by the looks of it, he means business here. Excited!!' 'It is nice to see that Rajkumar came out of middle class idol guy image and is now experimenting with new types of characters. He is a versatile actor and will definitely succeed where others failed. Best wishes to him,' wrote another fan.
Another fan said, 'The #MaalikTrailer hints at a compelling gangster drama, though the edit leaves room for improvement. With the director of Bhakshak at the helm, expectations are high. Rajkummar Rao appears in a refreshing new avatar, breaking away from his recent streak of similar roles—and he looks all set to deliver. Excited for this one!' On Prosenjit's cop avatar
Many fans also loved Bengali star Prosenjit's turn in the trailer. One comment read, 'OMG Prosenjit Chatterjee! He is going to steal the show!' A second comment read, 'Bumba da looking so good as a dashing cop. Jiyoh bumba daa..' A fan said, 'Rajkumar Rao and Prosenjit Chatterjee combo and their performance will be massive!'
Also starring Saurabh Shukla and Saurabh Sachdeva in pivotal parts, Maalik is set against the gritty backdrop of 1980s Allahabad. Produced by Kumar Taurani under the Tips Films banner, along with Jay Shewakramani of Northern Lights Films, Maalik is slated to release in cinemas on 11th July 2025.

When a 'traumatised' Rakhee Majumdar decided to end her marriage with Gulzar after he showed concern for Suchitra Sen: 'We deserve an award for the best split couple'
Veteran actress Rakhee Majumdar's marriage to lyricist Sampooran Singh Kalra, popularly known as Gulzar , became an emotional topic for her fans when their bond ended on a traumatic note. However, after parting ways unofficially, they grew closer to each other. Rakhee Majumdar's failed marriage with Ajay Biswas Rakhee had married Bengali filmmaker Ajay Biswas at a young age, but they separated in 1965. Later, fate brought her together with Gulzar. The acclaimed lyricist and writer married Rakhee in 1973, and the couple welcomed their daughter Meghna Gulzar the same year. Reportedly, Gulzar asked Rakhee to step away from her acting career after marriage. Rakhee Majumdar's marriage with Gulzar Trusting that her passion could still find space in Gulzar's own productions, Rakhee agreed. She turned down multiple film offers, hoping her husband might cast her in his films. However, those expectations were dashed when Gulzar repeatedly chose other actresses for his projects. Rakhee's tolerance reached its limit during the J&K shoot of Gulzar's Aandhi. A post-shoot gathering led to a tense moment when lead actor Sanjeev Kumar allegedly misbehaved with actress Suchitra Sen . Gulzar intervened to de-escalate the situation and later escorted Suchitra to her hotel. Though his intentions may have been noble, Rakhee felt hurt and questioned him about his actions. Rakhee Majumdar's return to Bollywood The confrontation turned violent. According to reports, Gulzar hit Rakhee for questioning him. The incident left her traumatised. The very next day, filmmaker Yash Chopra offered her a role in Kabhi Kabhie. Rakhee returned to films, despite her husband's disapproval. Kabhi Kabhie marked a powerful comeback for her, and the duo decided to live apart. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like local network access control Esseps Learn More Undo Their daughter Meghna was unwilling to see her parents officially part ways, so they never legally divorced. The duo later maintained a respectful bond with each other. Rakhee Majumdar's bond with Gulzar after separation In an old interview with Stardust, Rakhee spoke about the dynamics of their post-separation relationship. 'We deserve an award for the best split couple. We are more well-adjusted than most married couples. Gulzar and I are there for each other. He treats me as if I were still his wife. He calls me from his house and tells me, 'I've called four friends for dinner. There's no food at home. So please, quickly send some jhinga curry. ' I send it across.' Rakhee also opened up about how Gulzar's films often mirrored intimate aspects of their personal life. Over the years, she observed that he drew inspiration from their shared moments and translated them into scenes and characters on screen. She believes that only the two of them can truly recognise the real-life situations behind those cinematic moments. Recalling their time as a married couple, she shared that their evenings often involved creative exchanges—Gulzar would read his stories aloud while she translated Bengali stories for him. She would remain by his side as he continued writing late into the night. Two of those stories were eventually adapted into his films, Parichay and Khushboo. She also mentioned a call she once received from Gulzar, during which he praised her role in 'Ram Lakhan'.

Metro In Dino Day 2 India Box Office: Anurag Basu's directorial shows reasonable growth to net Rs 5.50 crore on first Saturday; Total remain under par
Dino, directed by Anurag Basu and starring Ali Fazal, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Nina Gupta, Anupam Kher, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma and others, showed reasonable gains on day 2, after a low opening day. With Rs 5.50 crore net on day 2, the total of the movie stands at Rs 8.75 crore. Sunday should see a slight jump from day 2, and the movie will end with a weekend of Rs 14.50 crore net or so. The Day Wise India Net Collections Of Dino Are As Under Dino's Rs 8.75 Crore Net Total In 2 Days Is Under Par; Strong Weekdays Required The collections of Dino in India so far are not up to the mark. Being a multiplex-oriented, metro-centric film with a low opening day, a Saturday growth was obviously coming. What the film essentially needs is a very strong weekday trend so that it can retain good screens in week 2 amidst stiff competition from Superman, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan and Maalik, apart from the already strong holdover releases. Dino Needs To Net Rs 55 Crore In India/Gross Rs 75 Crore Worldwide To Breakeven The weekday trend will determine whether Dino will barely cross Rs 30 crore net in India, or go on to do around Rs 40 crore net if not more. With the overseas collections not as strong as they should be, all the pressure is precisely on the India theatricals. As stated earlier, a Rs 75 crore gross worldwide collection is the bare minimum that the movie needs to do, in order to ensure that no one in the value chain loses any money. Given roughly Rs 10 crore gross will come from international markets, the Anurag Basu directorial needs to net around Rs 55 crore net, atleast. Dino In Theatres After Dino, Anurag Basu moves onto his next with Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela. Dino plays in theatres now. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates on Anurag Basu and his Dino.
