Corbyn Secures Parliamentary Backing to Introduce Inquiry Bill into Gaza Genocide

DayofPal– Former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has cleared a significant hurdle in his campaign to launch a formal investigation into the United Kingdom's complicity the Israeli 'genocide in Gaza.'
On Wednesday, Corbyn was granted permission by Parliament to introduce a bill that would establish a full public inquiry into the UK's military and political ties to Israel.
The inquiry, he said, would be modeled on the landmark Chilcot Inquiry, which examined Britain's role in the Iraq War.
'The public deserves to know the full extent of the UK's complicity in these atrocities,' Corbyn told MPs during remarks in the House of Commons.
'We cannot allow our role in the suffering of Palestinians to go unexamined.'
The motion was introduced by the newly formed Independent Alliance, a bloc led by Corbyn and composed of pro-Palestinian MPs elected during the last general election.
In a notable development, the motion passed without opposition from any sitting MP, allowing the bill to advance to a second reading.
If passed, the proposed legislation would establish an independent inquiry into UK arms sales to Israel, as well as the use of RAF Akrotiri, a British airbase in Cyprus, for potential military coordination linked to the ongoing war in Gaza.
Corbyn has proposed July 4 as the date for the bill's second reading, setting the stage for a potentially contentious debate on the UK's foreign policy and defence commitments in the Middle East.
The bill represents a historic political moment. It is the first time that the UK Parliament has formally considered launching an investigation into the country's role in the Gaza war, which has claimed tens of thousands of lives since the onset of the war in October 2023.
While the bill faces considerable legislative hurdles ahead, its introduction underscores growing pressure within Westminster to confront Britain's accountability in international war.

GMO: Famine Intensifies as Hundreds of Thousands Face Risk of Death

DaysofPal—The Government Media Office (GMO) in the Gaza Strip has warned of the worsening humanitarian situation in the territory, stressing that the threat of famine is growing by the day and endangering the lives of hundreds of thousands, including around 650 thousand children under the age of five. In a statement on Saturday, the office stated that the Israeli blockade on Gaza has now entered its 133rd consecutive day, with all crossings closed and the entry of food, medicine, and fuel prohibited, describing it as one of the most severe forms of collective punishment in modern times. The statement reported dozens of deaths in the past three days due to the lack of food and essential medicines, describing the humanitarian conditions as among the harshest the region has ever seen. The office emphasized that the Israeli occupation continues its deliberate policy of denying the entry of basic food and medical supplies, such as flour and baby formula, in a clear attempt to starve the population, particularly children, and deprive them of the most basic components of a dignified life. Moreover, it confirmed that 67 children have died so far due to malnutrition. In comparison, more than 650,000 children under five are at risk of severe acute malnutrition in the coming weeks, out of a total of 1.1 million children in Gaza. The office further reported that approximately 1.25 million people in Gaza are currently facing catastrophic levels of hunger, and 96% of the population is suffering from food insecurity, including over one million children, reflecting the scale of an unprecedented humanitarian disaster. Additionally, the Government Media Office strongly condemned what it described as organized crimes being committed against more than two million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, holding the Israeli occupation fully responsible for a systematic policy of genocide and starvation. It also harshly criticized the countries supporting or complicit with the Israeli occupation, particularly the United States, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom, accusing them of bearing moral and legal responsibility for the ongoing catastrophe due to their silence and failure to act to stop these crimes. The GMO called on the international community, Arab and Islamic countries, and all people of conscience worldwide to take immediate and urgent action to break the siege on Gaza, allow the entry of essential humanitarian and medical aid, and save the Palestinian people from the threat of death by starvation, as the disaster continues to claim the lives of children, the sick, and women. British MPs Call on Their Government to Recognize Palestine Immediately

DaysofPal- Dozens of Labour Party MPs in the British Parliament have called on their government to 'immediately recognize' the State of Palestine and take steps to prevent the Israeli occupation from displacing residents of the Gaza Strip. This came in a letter sent by around 60 Labour MPs (from the ruling party) to Foreign Secretary David Lammy. In their letter, the MPs urged the British government to take immediate action to stop the Israeli government from carrying out its forced displacement plan in the city of Rafah, southern Gaza, and to move forward with the immediate recognition of the Palestinian state. They noted that their letter followed the announcement by Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz of plans to 'forcibly displace all Palestinians in Gaza to a camp established on the ruins of Rafah city, without allowing them to leave,' to expel them later entirely. The British MPs considered Katz's plans to amount to 'ethnic cleansing' of the Gaza Strip. In their letter, they quoted prominent Israeli human rights lawyer Michael Sfard, who described the Israeli plan as an 'operational blueprint for committing crimes against humanity.' According to Sfard, the plan involves 'moving the population of Gaza to the southernmost part of the Strip as a prelude to deporting them outside.' Shortlink for this post:

Lazzarini: Israel Has Killed 800 Starving People in Gaza

DaysofPal—The Commissioner-General of the UN agency UNRWA, Philippe Lazzarini, stated that the Israeli occupation has killed more than 800 starving Palestinians in Gaza by shooting them while they were trying to obtain a small amount of food. In press remarks on Saturday, Lazzarini emphasized that 'an effective system has been replaced with a deadly scam, aimed at forcing people to flee and deepening the collective punishment of Palestinians in Gaza.' He pointed out that life-saving supplies are at risk of spoilage due to their nearing expiration, as over 6,000 UNRWA trucks loaded with food, medicine, and essential items have been waiting for more than four months for clearance to enter Gaza. Lazzarini noted that allegations of aid being diverted to specific Palestinian factions have not been raised in official meetings, nor has any evidence been presented to support such claims. He stressed the urgent need to allow the United Nations, including UNRWA, to carry out its duties in Gaza. He called for an immediate ceasefire, lifting of the blockade, and the release of detainees. Earlier today, at least 27 Palestinians were killed and dozens more injured in a new Israeli massacre targeting people waiting for aid in northern Rafah, in southern Gaza. Local and medical sources confirmed that Israeli forces opened fire and shelled the 'Al-Shakoush' aid distribution area in northern Rafah, killing 27 people and wounding 180 others, some of whom are in critical condition according to doctors. Video footage documented the bodies of the martyrs lying on the ground due to the lack of space, while dozens of injured people crowded the hospitals, which are already struggling with limited medical capacity, severe shortages of beds, and a lack of medical staff.
