CBSE Class 10th, 12th supplementary practical exams from July 10, guidelines released

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct the practical exams for Class 10 and Class 12 supplementary exams from July 10 to 15. The board, on July 2, released the exam guidelines for students and schools to conduct the practical exams. The CBSE Class 10 supplementary exams will be held from July 15 to July 22, and the Class 12 supplementary exams will take place in a single day on July 15.
CBSE has asked the students or the examinees to contact their schools or examination centres without fail by July 7 with a copy of their result and mark sheet and admit card. The students/examinees will have to note the date and time of the practical examination given by the school and report for the practical examination at the designated venue on time.
The principal or centre superintendent of each school must prepare a subject-wise list of all students scheduled for practical examinations.
They must also coordinate with the regional office in advance to arrange external examiners, if required. The regional offices will, in turn, compile subject-wise and centre-wise lists of all students appearing for practical exams.
For CBSE supplementary practical examinations, regular candidates will appear for practicals at their respective schools, while private candidates will take them at the theory examination centres allotted to them.
The practical answer books supplied by the Regional Offices are to be used for the conduct of the practical examination. It is to be ensured that the examiner completes all entries in practical answer books carefully and correctly. The Schools/Examination centre where practical exams are conducted during the Supplementary Examination-2025 shall upload the marks awarded to the candidates on the portal on the same day. The marks once uploaded shall be deemed final and no request for any change in the same will be accepted, CBSE added.

Muharram Holiday 2025: Will schools, colleges and offices be closed on July 6 or 7?

Muharram Holiday 2025: Muharram marks the start of the Islamic New Year. The government has marked July 6, 2025 (Sunday) as the tentative date for Ashura, the 10th day of Muharram. The day commemorates the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, who died at the Battle of Karbala in 680 AD. Since the Islamic calendar follows the moon, the holiday might shift to July 7 (Monday). If that happens, schools and offices in many states are likely to be closed on Monday instead. States like Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, and West Bengal are likely to declare a holiday if Muharram is observed on July 7. The final announcement will be made by local or state authorities based on religious and administrative coordination. Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar and one of the holiest times for Muslims. The 10th day, called Ashura, is especially important for Shia Muslims. It remembers the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, who died in the Battle of Karbala in 680 AD. The day is marked by the Muslim community with prayers, religious gatherings, and mourning processions. Most schools in India reopen in early July after summer vacation ends in June. In northern states like Uttar Pradesh, classes have already started. Other than Muharram, there are no major holidays in early July. The CBSE has released the 2025–26 academic calendar, which includes holidays for national festivals, regional events, and seasonal breaks. As per the calendar, Muharram is tentatively marked on July 6 (Sunday), but the date may change. The final holiday date will be confirmed after the moon is sighted. This will decide whether the public holiday falls on July 6 or July 7. (This article has been curated by Disha Gupta, who is an intern with the Indian Express)
