The retired striker never fully recovered from the injury as he did not return to top-flight football after the surgery.
The 39-year-old believes that his surgeon, Prof James Calder, performed an "unnecessary" and "destructive" operation on his ankle.
As a result, Ebanks-Blake says that the procedure caused his top-flight career to end prematurely.
His barrister Simeon Maskrey KC told Mrs Justice Lambert at London's High Court: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

It is also part of the footballer's case that he claims he was not asked for proper consent before the operation.
However, Prof Calder's lawyers have argued that Ebanks-Blake overestimated his skills.
They said he "had an overoptimistic view of his own powers of recovery".
Barrister Martin Forde KC added: "Far from curtailing the claimant's career, the defendant will argue that his clinical skills prolonged the career of a professional footballer, who had suffered a very serious injury."

The striker spent two years there before joining Wolves and established himself at the club.
He scored 62 goals in 193 appearances for the club, including ten in the Premier League.
Ebanks-Blake helped the club reach the top-flight in 2009 and was part of the iconic strike partnership alongside Irishman Kevin Doyle.
He spent five years at the Molineux before the broken fibula injury struck.
Ebanks-Blake left the club at the end of that season and bounced around clubs until he retired in 2019 at Walsall Wood following another leg fracture.

West Ham unlikely to start legal battle with the FA if Lucas Paqueta is cleared of spot-fixing after two-year saga and collapse of dream Man City move
West Ham are unlikely to start a furious legal battle with the FA if Lucas Paqueta is cleared of spot-fixing in a two-year saga that led to the collapse of an £85million move to Manchester City. The bombshell verdict on whether Paqueta deliberately picked up four yellow cards during Premier League matches to influence betting markets is due to land in the coming days with sources suggesting the Brazilian is expected to be cleared. Paqueta was on the verge of a mega move to Manchester City in August 2023 when Mail Sport broke the news that the Brazilian was under investigation by the FA for four suspicious bookings. City pulled the plug as soon as West Ham made them aware of the investigation, costing Paqueta a dream move, potentially his entire career, and West Ham a huge payday. The investigation and trial is believed to have cost the club nearly £2m in fees and it remains to be seen whether the FA will have to stump up the bill, though club insiders believe it unlikely. West Ham will look to sell Paqueta this summer to help fund Graham Potter 's squad overhaul but stand no chance of landing a fee anywhere near as large. Paqueta's potential clearing has led for calls from the fan base to take action against the FA for the club missing out on a huge windfall. They needed to sell players before they could buy this summer to keep in line with PSR rules and they didn't make their first signing until Mohammed Kudus's £55m move to Tottenham. West Ham are furious at how long the trial has taken, and the toll it has taken on Paqueta, however senior Hammers sources told Mail Sport the club would not consider taking action against the FA. It's understood West Ham don't think it would be good for football if they were to sue the game's custodians. An emotional return to hometown club Flamengo is a possibility for Paqueta, though sources say the Hammers would want in way in excess of £25m otherwise will not consider selling him.

Liverpool announce permanent Diogo Jota tributes including sculpture at Anfield
Liverpool have confirmed that a permanent tribute will be created to remember Diogo Jota and Andre Silva. Reds forward Jota died in a car crash along with his brother Silva in Spain on July 3, aged 28. Tributes have been paid at Anfield with flowers, scarves, cards and jerseys being laid around the stadium. Liverpool confirmed that physical tributes have been removed and stored, while floral tributes will be composted and used in flower beds at Anfield and training facilities. The remaining items will be recycled and used to create a permanent memorial sculpture at Anfield. Additionally, players will have a 'Forever 20' emblem – referencing Jota's now-retired shirt number – printed on their shirts and stadium jackets for the season. A club statement said: 'The club is now able to provide details on how it will create more permanent tributes moving forward. The thousands of physical tributes outside Anfield have been gradually removed over the course of the last week and carefully separated and safely stored. 'Floral tributes will then be composted and used in flower beds across all club sites, including Anfield, the AXA Training Centre and AXA Melwood Training Centre. 'The remaining artefacts will be recycled by a specialist company and used to help create a permanent memorial sculpture that will become a future focal point of remembrance at Anfield. 'In the meantime, a temporary area of reflection has been created at Anfield so people can continue to pay their respects.' The club announced earlier in the month that Jota's squad number 20 had been retired in his honour across all levels, including the women's and academy teams. Liverpool paid tribute to Jota and Silva during their friendly against Preston on July 13, where supporters chanted Jota's name. Respects will also be paid ahead of the Reds' remaining pre-season games, where a floral tribute will be laid before kick-off at their games in Hong Kong, Tokyo and Anfield. Liverpool's Premier League season kicks off with a meeting against Bournemouth on August 15 and a main commemoration is set to take place with a special fan mosaic and a minute of silence.
