Defaulting consumers issued notices: Various federal, provincial depts owe over Rs3.7136bn to SNGPL
Among the defaulters, government hospitals owe a substantial amount. Hospitals under the Federal Government owe Rs 183.62 million, those under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Government owe Rs 106.08 million, and Punjab Government hospitals owe Rs 1.1228 billion. The total outstanding dues from these hospitals amount to Rs 1.4125 billion.
Police departments are also among the major defaulteRs The Federal Police owe Rs 141.5 million, KPK Police owe Rs 63.13 million, and Punjab Police owe Rs 295.04 million, bringing the total outstanding dues from police departments to Rs 499.7 million.
In the prison sector, jails in KPK owe Rs 38.58 million, while those in Punjab owe Rs 569 million. The total outstanding dues from jails come to Rs 607.5 million.
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) of the Federal Government owes Rs 251.2 million.
The Public Works Department (PWD) is a major defaulter. The Federal PWD owes Rs 118.46 million, KPK PWD owes Rs 5.028 million, and Punjab PWD owes Rs 18.114 million. The combined outstanding dues from all PWDs total Rs 141.6 million.
Educational institutions have also accumulated unpaid dues. Federal institutions owe Rs 65.58 million, KPK institutions owe Rs 17.14 million, and Punjab institutions owe Rs 32.554 million. The total outstanding dues from educational institutions stand at Rs 115.28 million.
Miscellaneous government institutions owe substantial amounts as well. Federal institutions owe Rs 198.88 million, those in KPK owe Rs 76.92 million, and Punjab-based institutions owe Rs 410 million. The total outstanding dues in this category amount to Rs 685.8 million.

The Medical Superintendent, Surgical Tower, Mayo Hospital, Lahore, is liable for Rs 85.7 million.
The Deputy Director, Mechanical Division 2 (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Room No. 1, Block Q, Pak Secretariat Building, Islamabad, for Pak House, owes Rs 61.66 million. Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), G-8/3, Islamabad, has dues of Rs 61.4 million. The Superintendent Jail, Central Jail, Gujranwala, owes Rs 60.99 million. The Medical Director, Children Hospital, Ferozepur Road, Lahore, owes Rs 60.3 million.
The Medical Superintendent of Surgical Ward, ENT Ward, and Medical Wards No. 1 and 2, Bahawal Victoria Hospital, Bahawalpur, has outstanding dues of Rs 55.21 million. The Assistant Executive Engineer, PM House Complex, Islamabad, owes Rs 51.76 million. The Superintendent, Adyala Jail, Rawalpindi, is liable for Rs 49.67 million. The Medical Superintendent, District Headquarters Hospital, Mianwali Road, Sargodha, owes Rs 44.26 million.

Volvo Cars sales fall 12% in June, fully electric tumble 26%
STOCKHOLM: Sweden-based Volvo Cars reported on Wednesday a fourth straight month of falling sales volumes, pressured by trade tariffs and weaker electric vehicle demand. Volvo Cars, which is majority-owned by China's Geely, said in a statement it sold 62,858 cars in June, a 12% drop from a year earlier. The group, which in April withdrew its earnings forecast for the next two years in the face of tariffs, said sales of fully electric cars fell 26% to account for 22% of total sales volumes. Sales of electrified cars as a whole, also including plug-in hybrids, were down 19% to account for 44% of total sales volumes. 'This month's performance is an example of the tough conditions that we have indicated,' a Volvo Car spokesperson told Reuters in an emailed response to questions. Volvo Cars to cut 3,000 jobs in restructuring 'We anticipated 2025 would be a challenging transition year on the path to our long-term growth ambitions,' she added. Volvo Cars said in May it would cut 3,000 mostly white-collar jobs as it struggles with cost increases, a slowdown in electric vehicle demand and global trade uncertainty. Its sales volumes in Europe were down 14%, while in the U.S. and China they were down 7% and 3%, respectively. Shares in the company were up 4.8% at 1348 GMT, but have fallen 24% so far this year.

Palm ends higher on better demand, likely lower June production
JAKARTA: Malaysian palm oil futures closed higher on Wednesday, snapping two straight sessions of losses, supported by higher demand, a soyoil rally and the possibility of lower production in June. The benchmark palm oil contract for September delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange gained 95 ringgit, or 2.39%, to 4,063 ringgit ($961.4) a metric ton at the close. 'Overall market sentiment has improved and demand has returned to normalcy. With our preliminary assessment on lowerproduction in June and the soyoil rally, all helped palm prices to remain competitive,' said Paramalingam Supramaniam, director at Selangor-based brokerage Pelindung Bestari. India's palm oil imports soared to an 11-month high in June, driven by lower domestic inventories and a price discount to rivals soyoil and sunflower oil that encouraged refiners to ramp up purchases. Dalian's most-active soyoil contract rose 0.63%, while its palm oil contract gained 1.52%. Soyoil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade were 1.12% higher. Malaysian palm oil slips Palm oil tracks the price movements of rival edible oils as it competes for a share of the global vegetable oils market. Exports of Malaysian palm oil products for June rose 4.3% month-on-month, according to independent inspection company AmSpec Agri Malaysia, while according to Intertek Testing Services, they grew 4.7%. Indonesia's crude and refined palm oil exports soared 53% in May from a year ago, data from the statistics bureau showed, as the tropical oil started trading at a discount to its rivals, boosting demand from key buyers. The ringgit, palm's currency of trade, weakened 0.71% against the dollar, making the commodity cheaper for buyers holding foreign currencies.

NEV levy: all vehicle categories' prices surge in Pakistan
KARACHI: The New Energy Vehicle (NEV) levy on all internal combustion engine motor vehicles and motorcycles has come into effect from July 1, 2025, increasing prices significantly. According to the details, the NEV levy covers all vehicle categories from basic motorcycles to luxury SUVs. Atlas Honda has released new prices after NEV implementation. The CD70 now costs Rs 159,900 compared to its previous price, with the NEV levy adding Rs 1,500. Higher-end models like the CB150F face levies of up to Rs 4,720. All major car manufacturers have also adjusted their pricing, which are going to be revealed in a day or two. FBR imposes new levy on locally-made, imported vehicles The policy exempts new energy vehicles (electric and hybrid cars), vehicles manufactured exclusively for export, diplomatic mission vehicles, and those belonging to international organizations with diplomatic privileges. 'This levy is designed to encourage the adoption of cleaner transportation alternatives while generating revenue for the federal government,' said a senior government official, speaking on condition of anonymity.
