UK police charge actor Micheal Ward with rape and sexual assault
The Metropolitan Police force said the 27-year-old faces two counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault. The charges relate to one woman and the offenses reportedly took place in January 2023.
The Crown Prosecution Service said it authorized the charges 'having carefully reviewed a file of evidence.'
Ward is due to appear at London's Thames Magistrates' Court on Aug. 28.
Ward has appeared in films including 'Blue Story,' 'The Book of Clarence' and the recently released American political satire 'Eddington.'
In 2020 he won the Rising Star award at the British Academy Film Awards, or BAFTAs. He was nominated for an acting BAFTA for Sam Mendes' 'Empire of Light' and for a BAFTA television award for the Steve McQueen-directed series 'Small Axe.'

Rare Hulk stretch toy sells for thousands of pounds at auction
A stretch toy of Marvel's The Hulk, which has been described as one of the 'rarest stretch toys in existence', has sold for thousands of pounds, according to Excalibur Auctions. The figure, which appears to be one of only 30 known examples of the original Hulk stretch figure from 1979 known to still exist, was sold to a private collector on Saturday at the Excalibur Auctions Vintage Toys, Diecast Models & Model Railways auction for £3,900. Originally estimated between £3,000 and £5,000, the final sale set a new record in the UK for 'a figure of its kind', according to the auction house. Jonathan Torode, from Excalibur Auctions, said: 'We were excited to offer this rare piece of nostalgia today, which set a UK auction record for a figure of its kind. 'We saw competitive bidding on the phones and internet, with it finally winning out to a UK private collector, where we hope it will be as cherished by its new owner as much as it has been by its previous one.' The character the toy is based on was created by the American comic book writer and producer Stan Lee and comic artist Jack Kirby, appearing in comic form for the first time in May 1962 under the Marvel name. He was later portrayed across TV, film, cartoon and video games as The Incredible Hulk – the alter ego of the physicist Dr Bruce Banner, who transformed into the superhero when he was angry or under extreme stress. A range of actors have since portrayed the character over the years, including Eric Bana in The Hulk (2003), Edward Norton in The Incredible Hulk (2008) and Mark Ruffalo in The Avengers (2012). The toy was described as being in 'mint' condition after being kept out of the light, upright, and in its original packaging over the years. The Hulk figure also came with its original instructions and has never been offered for sale since it was bought in 1979, according to the auction house. Produced by renowned toymaker Denys Fisher (1918-2002), the figure came directly from its original owner who had begged his mother for one as a child. It was originally part of Kenner's 'Stretch Armstrong' line and was later licensed under Denys Fisher in the UK. Fisher, who developed the Spirograph, grew up in the Leeds area and later lived in Dumfries and Cumbria. The Hulk stretch figure was filled with corn syrup to enable it to stretch and was made using the same latex and gel moulds as those used for the Stretch Armstrong figure. However, its green skin colouring, the Hulk head and the Marvel branding set it apart from the Stretch Armstrong toy. Manufactured in Thorp Arch, Wetherby, the toy was sold in limited quantities only in the UK, through select mail order catalogues and a handful of shops.

13-year-old threatens man with flare gun, tries to steal van using a screwdriver, Delaware State Police say
A 13-year-old boy was arrested after trying to steal a Ford Transit van from the Harry O. Eisenberg Elementary School in New Castle, Delaware, on Tuesday. According to Delaware State Police, a 64-year-old man went out to his Ford Transit in the school parking lot just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, where he found 3-4 teens in the van. The man confronted the teens and ran after them once they tried to get away. The 13-year-old boy pointed an orange flare gun at the 64-year-old, who eventually caught up to him. State police said the boy then punched the man. State police took the 13-year-old into custody and recovered the flare gun. The boy is charged with attempting to commit theft of a motor vehicle, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, aggravated menacing, as well as other offenses, according to state police. Investigators later discovered the Ford van's driver's side door was damaged by the teens, and a screwdriver had been shoved into the ignition. "This type of damage is consistent with the nationwide trend of vehicles being stolen using a screwdriver," state police said in an announcement about the investigation. The 13-year-old was sent to the New Castle County Detention Center. The other teens were not found and have yet to be identified. 14-year-old boy identified as victim in University of New Mexico dorm shooting
A shooting inside a dorm room at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque early Friday morning left a 14-year-old boy dead and another teen wounded, state police said. The suspect in the shooting, identified by police as 18-year-old John Fuentes, was taken into custody hours after the shooting during a traffic stop in Los Lunas, New Mexico, about 25 miles south of Albuquerque, New Mexico State Police said during a news conference Friday evening. Fuentes has been booked on one count of first-degree murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault and tampering with evidence. An initial investigation indicates that four young people were inside a dorm room at Mesa Vista Hall playing video games when the violence broke out, according to State Police. "At some point, for reasons still being investigated, the suspect began shooting a firearm at the other occupants in the room. The 14-year-old victim was fatally shot while the other occupants, along with the suspect, fled from the room," State Police said in a statement Saturday. The other person who was wounded in the shooting is 19, according to police, and had injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, the university said earlier. University of New Mexico Police officers responded to an alarm call at the dorm at around 1:30 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found broken windows and suspected blood, according to New Mexico State Police. University police then received two more calls reporting gunshots and a second from UNMH that a 19-year-old male came in with a gunshot wound and said he had been shot at UNM campus, according to state police. While conducting a sweep of the surrounding buildings, officers found a 14-year-old dead, state police said. Fuentes remains in state police custody. Authorities said he will be booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center in Bernalillo County. The university initially issued a shelter-in-place, which lasted much of the day. By Friday afternoon local time, the university said there was "still an active crime scene" in the central part of the campus, but that the shelter-in-place order had been lifted. The central campus remained closed, the university said. New Mexico State Rep. Marianna Anaya said new student orientation was underway this week. "Waking this morning to the news of this act of violence has shaken the entire UNM community," she said in a statement. "It is especially heartbreaking that this occurred during the time of a new student orientation -- a time when students and their families should be filled with hope, excitement, and a sense of possibility." She added, "This heartbreaking incident is yet another reminder of the urgent need to address gun violence and historical trauma in our state."
